I know but being fit alone is a massive if. Even so, I'm not sure if Owen would score 15+ a season. What set him apart from the other top players was his pace, saying well he'd get bags of chances at United in ways is true, but a lot of sides when playing sides like us, United, Chelsea and so on, defend for 90 minutes. I don't see Owen as the type of player who is dangerous enough against these types of sides. I believe at the top sides, the strikers need to be almost complete to play, attributes like height, pace, movement, strength, control and finishing ability are usually required for the best. I know Owen's not going to be a star signing or whatever, but I'd have thought United would have higher standards. May as well let Wellbeck or Macheda play more.

Still one of the best finishers around, his strike rate is second to none, all he has to do is stay fit.

Your right about the pace I remember when he played for us we would have him on the heels of the defender and put balls in to run onto to go one on one with the keeper, it was his trademark finish.

Yeah, he's decent at putting chances away for sides like Newcastle, sides won't defend for 90 mins against Newcastle, so he gets space and isn't marked half as tightly. I just don't think he offers enough for a side like United, and maybe won't get as many chances due to his lack of other attributes.

Strange thing to say, I'm pretty sure we create more chances than Newcastle, Newcastle also don't have the likes of Rooney and Berbatov to contend with.

To be honest that young lad who saved you against Sunderland and Villa would be good enough to do the job, can't see you lot just getting Owen on a free and thats it I expect one big signing after selling Tevez and Ronaldo I know you signed Valenica but that one was pretty much done last season.

Yeah but the players you created those chances for get different kinds of chances. Ronaldo's pace, skill and aerial ability earned him plenty of chances, same with Berba although he doesn't have the pace, but he certainly has strength and ability in the air, he also brings the ability to hold up the ball and create from deep.

Owen's just a finisher, I think a side like United should look for something more.

I wouldn't welcome Owen as a player or person at the club, to be honest.

To be honest, if we're going to sign a striker, he doesn't have to be a massive name, just a young lad who can lead the line on his own. N'Gog has potential to be that player, but hasn't shown enough to be relied upon as a regular back up to Torres.
