If Sky do get it though I hope they get the weekend games in HD. I dont always get to watch Monday night Football and if I know the result I dont like watching it the day after either.

Im the same I record it then hear the score and never bother watching it, although it will be hard this year because my sky+ box is fecked

Yeah the "he couldn't be more open if he was...." etc jokes add to the charm in my opinion. Would rather have him and Coombs than Cadle and Halling, Cadle falling over his dialogue and Halling with his insight that usually turns out to be incorrect. Not to mention the studio guests, the insight of the gladiator last season was incredible....

Also i find Carlsons inside the game section to be brilliant. Learnt an incredible amount about the game from it

I think generally Sky cater for the new fans that they might get interest from due to the Wembley games etc with them often stating the obvious whereas 5 seem to know that there audience is likely to be the more hardcore fan so they don't see the need to dumb down their coverage.

I'm playing through the Madden Moments mode at the moment and I've come to a level where you have to win a game as the Lions against the Redskins from your own 20, needing to score and convert 2 with no timeouts. The Lions are unbelievably bad. Must have attempted this about 50 times now and I'm so close to breaking the TV

Personally i find him unprofessional.

Cadle and Halling are OK IMO, nothing outstanding but i just prefer the set-up they have.

I remember Carlson repeatedly going on about Green Bay vs Chicago a year or two ago and how the teams were terrible, it was a terrible game to watch, the division was terrible. Now surely he should be bigging up the game not playing it down.

Each to their own i suppose. I'd dare say thats just him been honest. Don't get me wrong i still watch Sky Sports coverage, it just doesn't seem as personal but they have the money so won't be going anywhere soon

Mick Luckhurst and Gary Imlach are the best ever for NFL coverage in UK.

Not sure about Luckhurst but Imlach is a legend. He does a bit for ESPN Classic so if they win the rights maybe he'll get involved again.

I was in Vegas last November and watched about 3 games on the Sunday (ridiculous sports bar in the Planet Hollywood Casino) - maybe if ESPN get the rights they'll let us watch some of their other NFL shows.

I may be getting game pass myself.

Yes, I used it last year for redskins games that weren't on Sky or Ch5. I bought it on a game by game basis.

It was excellent. You can view ALL the games as many times as you like as well as pre and post game stuff. Really good.

If Sky don't get coverage I'll be ditching Sky Sports once the Sl is over and watching game-pass.

I remember watching the Monday night Redskins vs Cowboys game from 2005. It was 14-3 Cowboys in the 4th quarter and the Redskins had done nothing.

carlson was very disparaging about the Skins and basically said redskins fans should go to bed. Two Santana Moss TD's later he was very embarrassed.

Having said that, his analysis is far better than Cadle and Hallings. Hallings in particular annoys the heck out of me. He's like an enthusiastic fan but his understanding of the game feels to me to be less than mine and I don't want that out of a TV expert.

The thing that puts me off Nick Halling is he is too enthusiastic and it just looks fake and he is on every other sport it seems, baseball, ice hockey, iron man, football now too on the bbc and you can bet as soon as olympic snorkling starts he will be on that too telling us how great it is

Reported on TSN, he is on their negotiation list, seems there was a leek a bit too soon! Same with Charles Rodgers but he is ineligible to play in CFL as he is still suspended by NFL

A couple of weeks ago I posted that there was a thread on the NFLUK forumsaying no tv contracts had been signed so far for this season then on page 35 of this thread I posted Five had signed up to show the late game on sun night and that there was no news on a sky deal so far.

I like the fact that he's not afraid to have an opinion. Yes, he sometimes gets it wrong, but he's much more knowledgable than Halling. The worst pundit was Scott McCready. God, I hated him!
