| Quote ="Karlos13"17 wickets at Edgbaston so far today. Last 2 Lancs wickets from the first innings, Warwickshire bowled out for 113, and Lancs now 21-5.
Wonder why Lancs didn't enforce the follow on?'"
God only knows, big chance to get a innings win, or have a very small run chase.
Hope this shocking second innings won't throw away what should be a win. Still, if the tail can wag and get us up to 200, sets a target of 450-ish, which should be far too much, and 2 days to get 10 wickets.
Otherwise, seems the Yorkies are finally getting a game, seems we won't be the ones to bring them crashing down to earth in a giant fireball

| I think the reason for Lancs not enforcing the follow-on is to give Jimmy Anderson a chance to bowl

| Lancs need to get Trott out early in the morning or they could throw away what should have been an easy win after what happened in the 1st innings.

| Yorkshire are in danger of losing this game!
Not sure when the close of play is tonight but Somerset have a chance of winning it, could be a a blunder to declare so early.. espeically now it seems Notts will either beat Hampshire or their game will be a draw, after Hampshire looked comfortably earlier on in the day.

Yorkshire have indeed been beaten by Somerset! Superb effort by Somerset, Hildreth with an awesome 102 off 70 balls!
On the flip side, It looks like Hampshire will beat Notts too, surprisingly after one bit, interesting stuff with the top 2 sides losing. Opens everything out now.
Well it's 18:09 and Hampshire need 7 to win with 2 wickets left.

| Looks like there will be less of you Yorkies on here in the next few days going on and on about how good you are Notts well ahead of you and Lancs just 6 points behind you with both teams having a game in hand. It's not going to be as easy as you lot thought it would be is it.

Well done to Yorkshire and the people who changed the scoring system this year

Yup, there were only two realistic results on that pitch heading into the last day - Yorkshire were unlikely to be able to bowl Somerset out and force the win.
With the difference of only four points between a loss and a draw these days though, it was worth taking the gamble and seeing if they got reckless in their chase?
Isn't this the second year in a row Somerset have chased down a massive target to beat Yorkshire in the last innings at Taunton?
Given that Yorkshire were missing their two best bowlers and their captain it's a bit rich to start saying it's all gone belly up on the basis of that one defeat.

My comment was merely about the Somerset game, not the season

| This may have already been mentioned but cba/ too lazy to trawl through all 30 odd pages of this thread. How long have teams been able to use 12 players during a championship game? Notice Lancs did it in their last game against Warwickshire and Essex have nominated 12 playes today.

| Yorkshire back in the saddle straight away against Hampshire at Southampton today.
Put in to bat by the home side, 115-0 at lunch.
No Lumb or Pietersen for Hants, no Bresnan or Shahzad for Yorkshire. Gale back for Ballance, Pyrah in for Wainwright as the fourth seamer.

| Not looking good for Lancs unless they can skittle Essex for around 200 tomorrow. Need to sort our batting out or Yorkshire could give us a pasting. Opening the batting with two opening batsmen might be a good idea to start with.

IIRC if a player has been on England duty but is then released by the ECB back to their county they can replace a player in a Championship game which has already started providing the player being replaced has not yet batted or bowled in that match.
Hampshire did it in the current game with Michael Lumb, who wasn't in the 11 named at the toss. Might have been part of the reason why they opted to field on winning the toss, not that it did them much good with him being out for a duck and all.

No chance of the Yorkies giving us a pasting, only one possible winner in this and it ain't Yorkshire. Although a result relies on Lancs skittling Yorks for less than 216. 170/7 as I type this.

Scoring 18 runs will do enough I reckon. Typically it rains and guess which county is affected more?

Easier said than done given the way we are batting.
Not sure that Lancs can moan about rain, it's been accruing you points helping you stave off relegation for years
