2-1 win to start the season for the shaymen.
that stretches the unbeaten home record in league action since 13th April 2009
few new players in the team, not the best performance but there was plenty of potential there for the rest of the season.
bring on Frickley'"
Last time I saw Frickley play was a 4-4 draw at Worcester City about 25 years ago and City scored 3 in the last 2 minutes to snatch the draw.

Don't knock your performance. Buxton did the double over us last season and are tough to beat. They usually finish just below the play-offs so that's a good marker for where you are at after the first game in a newer league.
How did Si Garner play?

Glad I didn't get there later anyroad...it was 2-1 to Chorley after 4 minutes!! Very impressive attacking performance from Chorley, and Shelton Payne looks class, but I still think they won't have it their own way once the pitches start to cut up and teams realise they just need to put five in midfield to stifle them.

| 0-0 draw at Frickley, Halifax played poor in the first half, took a while to get used to playing on the side of a hill.
2nd half we improved a lot, brought on a couple of players, had 3 or 4 one on ones with the keeper and didnt make the keeper work that often with them which is criminal.
we tend to create enough chances to win 3 or 4 games we just dont take enuogh of them.
the only difference between sides this season and last season is the teams are a bit more organised. our keeper was mainly a spectator ronight as he was for large parts of last season.
we have made the transition up a league pretty well i think, 4 points from 6, the signs are there once the new players have settled in more, plus we still have our top scorer from last season out injured and the best player in our team is still injured as well. the best midfeilder in the league that is Scott Phelan them 2 players will add a lot when they return to the side.

Good piece.
There's going to be a lot of people hoping Crawley fail this season.

Without a doubt, and I think it's completely justified to be quite honest - can't even imagine what would possess a club to allow Evans or any of his cronies to take control.

Garner, well he again showed his versatility in this game, he played at Left back to start with then when we were pushing on for a winner in the last 15 minutes, he took up more of an attacking role.
he is still beding into the new team, has shown some good potential so far.
his versatility will defonately be an advantage to us during the cold winter months where injuries will be a problem

| Brodie sold to Crawley for a quite unbelievable £300k. £100k more than Stevenage got for the considerably better Morison. Think will be shocked when they get Brodes in training. He's a very good goal poacher but beyond that he is very limited. Can't really head the ball and his control is shocking. Having said that we will miss him as we now don't have a true goalscorer in the team. £300k is too much to turn for a player who is limited and out of contract next summer. Wish him all the best.

| Far to much for the lad, we had to sell him.
Brodes really is a fantastic lad who i've been in the company of hi a number of times and he really did love York but unfortunately for the lad i think he's a bit of a marked man this year both physically being marked and the ref's knowing he dives etc so i only predicted a 15+ season from him this year even at York.

| A club like ours can't turn down that money, but we're a minor party in this story.
Crawley. That's over £750k they've spent on players alone this summer. We were in for Matt Tubbs as well as them, but Foyle is on record as saying we can't compete with their "silly wages". It's a house of cards. Boston fans know how the next act of this play goes.

Evans in particular? I'm sure I wouldn't have a clue (or the lack of awareness to post allegations on a public messageboard). But the whole set-up at Crawley, frankly, stinks. And lest I'm accused of sour grapes, I thought that prior to the Brodie move as well.

| So how was non-league day for you? Barely two thousand at the Crescent, despite the official attendance of over 2300. Hardly surprising given the standard of football. Truly dreadful.
