| By my reckoning sussex are now down. bowled out for 243 in first innings, they can now reach a maximum of 157 points, and the other teams who were in danger have all exceeded that total with the bonus points already accrued in thier current matches.

| A frustrating day at OT today...on/off a few times for bad light then an early finish cos of GOOD light
But Laxman yet again proved his utter class with a score of 113 coming after he got some kind of injury very early on in the morning...Steven Croft batted extremely well for his 79 too and Andrew Miller bowled well for Warwickshire to get 3 wickets.
Declare overnight to stop Warwickshire getting any extra points then have 2 days to force the win - we can finish 4th here!!!

Indeed they are. Was always the likely outcome, but still bloody worrying.
Now to try and finish above our lovely neighbours...

| I know there isn't much difference in the division, apart from Durham and Worcestershire, but for Yorkshire to have to rely on a result in their last game to stay up 3 out of the last 4 seasons isn't really good enough.
The positive has to be that, out of the team that has played the last two games, 6 of them are relatively young home-grown players, and we have Bresnan and Rashid to add to that and, at times, they have shown that there is some quality there - the question is can it be developed and built on?

Ironically it wouldn't be bad news for Yorkshire in terms of the development of Patterson, Lee, Wainwright and Rafiq if they lost Bresnan and Rashid to international calls on a more regular basis.
It's still the batting that worries me though, the overseas player for 2010 really needs to be someone who can come in and bat at 4-5 to work with the younger players in the middle order.

| Lancs have today announced the signing of Stephen Moore after he decided to leave Worcestershire yesterday...potentially a cracking signing for us and should form a stable and potentially excellent opening partnership with Paul Horton....now, another couple of quality batsmen please Mr Moores - Solanki and Prince or Laxman would do me fine!!

Any idea/rumours where he may end up mate? There were rumours earlier in the season about Worcestershire but with them going down I doubt that...get to Lancs Hoggy - where better to prove the Yorkshire hierarchy wrong???

Wouldn't surprise me if he did end up at Worcester - they've got some recruiting to do to catch up for the players that have departed. Be a good upgrade for them to replace Kabir Ali IMO.
So at the minute, Yorkshire's new ball attack for 2010 is Tim Bresnan and Ajmal Shahzad (assuming Bresnan isn't away on England duty). Noises are being made about this supposed list of recruits Yorkshire have lined up for 2010, but like most things that come out of Colin Graves's mouth it'll be hot air.

What, how can you not be a fan of the self appointed saviour of Yorkshire cricket and owner of the 7th biggest supermarket chain in Harrogate?
The best you can say about the current Yorkshire board is that the likes of Graves and Regan deserve each other. I'd rather be back in the 70s with the bent committees of that era, at least then we were winning on the field even if we were stabbing each other in the back off it.
That they considered it appropriate use of resources to pay wedges of cash to crocks and pensioners like Kruis and Rana Naved but won't put their hands in their pockets for a 32 year old who finished as the county's leading wicket taker this year says it all.

It seems, despite his obvious qualities as a bowler, that Hoggy knows how to put people offside. There's never been an adequate explanation for his ejection from the England set-up, and England's subsequent refusals to pick him ever since.
An old-style Yorkshire committee would have fired him years ago.

| And to replace Hoggard Yorkshire have signed....
Ryan Harris, 30 year old Australian quick with one solitary ODI appearance for his country and an injury record as long as your arm.
Do I smell another Rana Naved in the offing...?

Up to two years ago he was barely good enough to play state cricket in Australia.

Seam bowler who can bat a bit. Failed to complete a short-term contract with Surrey last season after breaking down injured.
Looked ordinary on his Surrey debut away to Glamorgan, then in his second match at Northampton he broke down injured while bowling in the first innings before scoring a career best 94 at a run a ball (batting with a runner I believe - that was on the second day of four and I was only there for the following day) to help Surrey to an innings victory. He'd been due to play one more game for Surrey before joining an Australia 'A' tour, but I believe he was ruled out of that in the end.

| Any other signings or rumoured signings yet for the coming season??
David Hussey has signed up for Notts again with Adam Voges covering the early part of the season.
Billy Godleman has gone to Essex from Middlesex.
Andrew MacDonald is Leciestershire's overseas player and they've also signed Will Jefferson.
Murali Kartik has gone from Middlesex to Somerset as overseas player.
Rumours abound about Monty leaving Northants due to financial issues - where would he end up if he did leave?

And should he pick up an injury in the IPL, potentially not very much of it. Mind, that kind of thing would never happen would it?

| Darren Lehman seems to think he'll do well. He has to be better than Naved anyway.
Does anyone know who else we're meant to be signing? Cause this squad needs strengthening.

No, nobody gets injured in the IPL. It's an injury-free zone. Unless you fail to follow correct lifting procedure to hoist the sacks of money around.
