The quotes are from 2010 apparently. Still doesn't stop sky sports spunkometer getting excited though.
On Aquilani, I'm disappointed to see him leave. It's turned out to be a terrible transfer but you wonder what might have been. I had him above Adam and Meireles in my pre season pecking order but Meireles 20 minite cameo on Saturday shows that we may not miss AA too much. I think he always wanted to stay in italy after having a good season there last year. Good luck to him, glad he's going to a good club.
The rumour mill is in overdrive at Anfield. Looking like the end for Aquilani (Milan) Cole and Degen (QPR) NGog (Bolton) Soto (Wolfsburg) with no definite signings but rumoured interests in Cahill, Shawcross and Rodallega. Very quiet whispers of Bellamy and Benayoun as well......can't see either though as they don't fit the profile we're looking for.

I'm just waiting for him to trial a good old fashioned short back and sides.

| Top performance by Man U in the 2nd half. Scary considering it was such a young team.
If I was a Spurs player I'd be a bit miffed with VDV. Shooting from long range everytime he got the ball. Thought Spurs looked sharp in the 1st half, but their heads went after the 1st goal.

Seemed to be a tactic that. Shoot on sight. Stupid really, they had a few opportunities to keep hold and have possession in the final third but spunked it away by shooting from 25-30 yards. If every team hope for a De Gea balls up I'll be delighted.
Spurs got what they deserved. Poor really. Solid display from the young Reds though, especially 2nd half. Clev upped his workrate, Welbeck got with it a bit more, Smalling was a constant threat and Jones was MOTM. Happy to see Evans play well too.
I still want a midfielder. Wouldn't be shocked to see Nasri or Modric end up at Utd. More likely to be no further business admittedly.

Was really impressed with Jones, the block on Bale was great. Smalling continues impress and Evans also played well. We must sign a cm as we don't have enough there for the season. Something is happening I think, Utd told Sky no transfer questions. Also think Diouf will be sold and Macheda to go on loan.

| Jones has always been a good player, he's not turned into one at Utd. He's been a rock at times for Blackburn in the last two years, I think one of his first if not his first game for Blackburn was against Chelsea on TV and he was marking Drogba and he was immense, not shirking the physicality whatsoever. He's got the lot, and appears settled as a human too, no edge to him.
In a Michael Atherton way, he's the new F.E.C

| Looking good for United. How impressive was Chris Smalling? I'd stick both him and Jones straight into the England team now, they're outstanding.
Wellbeck had a storming game as well. His finish was good and the backheel for Anderson's goal was brilliant.

He's also 4 years older and has played 120 more PL games than "the stupid quiff".
And I wouldn't say streets ahead either.

| Why has Joe Hart suddenly been deemed this God amongst insects?
I have a mate who supports City, we went into Manchester recently and he was bigging up Citeh and their signings, as they do. But then he said Hart was better than Reina, which I found unbelievably odd, because, even as a joke, it wasn't funny, it was just outright strange. I can't think of anything Hart is better than Reina at, maybe City fans will enlighten us? Maybe they will get those legendary alleged quotes from Iker Casillas?

He's playing well to be fair to him. Clearly the best English keeper and the best in the Premier League behind Tim Howard probably.

Liverpool fans would never do that, would they? When are they due to win the league? January? I guess you also think Suarez is the best player ever.
You appear to be increasingly bitter to City and the club’s fans. If you have a problem with City fans tell your mate and City fans face-to-face rather than being a soft lad coming on here behind your internet profile.
When you refer to what Casillias said, I can only assume you are referring to the time the Spaniard said that he is a talent who may benefit from playing at a big club. I don’t know of anything else he has said. I don’t know exactly what was said, so I am unable to back-up your mate.
Joe Hart is a very good young keeper who appears to be continually improving. He made some shocking mistakes last year but then Reina is hardly ‘safe hands’, is he? He was poor in his first year or two in the PL. Certainly not as good as Hart was in his first two full seasons.
I would say that Hart and Reina are about the same level but Hart has more improvement in him. Hart’s strengths are one-on-one, decision-maiking (esp when you consider he is young)
As for De Gaea…he seems to be slow at getting down to the ball and it looks like he will get crucified against a team who puts crosses/corners underneath the crossbar. His decision-making is questionable (he’s young after all) and he looks physically weak. These issues can be resolved though. Looking forward to see how he handles Huth and Shawcross.

I look forward to your replies, generally because they're well-balanced. You obviously didn't see much of Reina as he's been outstanding ever since he arrived with us. The weaknesses he arrived with have now been removed and he's arguably the most complete goalkeeper in Europe. There were a few media myths that he was crap and so on, largely due to one howler against Everton when we were already two down, but he was always class. He was far better than Hart was in Hart's first few seasons, that's why Reina stayed at Liverpool when we were competing for CL's and lingering just outside of the title race, whilst Hart was loaned out and had Shay Given of all people put in front of him. Given is, by the way, abysmal.
As I said, I think Hart is a good 'keeper, I felt he was a bit so so early on, I wasn't sure if he was going to become a first choice player or if he'd end up the way of Kasper, but I do believe Reina is on that 'level above' a player like Hart. Hart's a top player, but Reina's a top 3 'keeper in the world (IMO, the best, but I'm slightly biased), and he's proved that consistently over the past 5 years or so. We're lucky to have him, as he could probably have gone to Arsenal or United if the club allowed the approach.
As for hiding behind my profile, I don't really know what you mean? What do you want me to say to the face of a City fan? That Reina is better than Hart? I would stand in the middle of the Etihad and bellow it across the stadium if the chance arisen.
The Casillas quotes I'm talking about were allegedly from a collection of made up quotes from the Daily Star. The quotes were along the lines of "Hart will become the best 'keeper in the world when I'm in my 30's, he has natural attributes you just can't learn".
