Get over yourself, I've never said or tried to be the font of all knowledge. Darts was on TV before Indoor League, that's a fact. Yes it had only just begun but it was on already - World Championship had already begun by then and was shown on ITV. He did help raise the profile of darts and still does, that's not in question.
Quote ="barton baird"Whether or not you like Waddell or Taylor, they have both helped to bring darts to where it is today.'"
I like Waddell, he's great for darts and his commentary is so unique it's great we have him in darts I just don't like when he commentates on Taylor. I like watching Phil Taylor too, when he's playing at his best it's a joy to watch, I just think he's a bit of a kn0b off stage, his interview's are so patronising and Dave Clark is so far up his ar$e it's untrue but he's the best player there will ever be so you can see where they come from but now we've got the best group of darts players ever and will regularly challenge Taylor and it seems SKY especially Clark need to mention him everytime they speak.

Agreed.
Quote ="barton baird"Oh and I know there was darts before Taylor,I might be getting on a bit but I remember watching Jocky,Bristow,Low, Rees etc on the t.v. so less of the sarcasm if you don`t mind.'"
There was no sarcasim in my post. I never questioned that you didn't know there was darts before Taylor, either so I've no idea what you are on about.

| How do I go about a large booking for the Premier League? Looking at maybe 10, 12 lads heading down. On Ticketmaster the max is six per person. Is it possible to get more from the box office hotline?
And anyone know how sales are going for the MEN?

Not sure for Premier League but have seen large groups at other Tournaments (stag do's & the like containing more than the max tickets per person) so might be a way of doing it to get you all sat together. Try phoning the MEN Box office. Failing that you'll have to do 2 lots of bookings and hope for the best.
Ticketmaster has been misleading on the ticket sales as the Lower Tier sales (£20 + booking fee) were only sold once the floor seats (£30 + booking fee) had been sold (according to [urlhttp://www.pdc.tv/page/Home[/url). However there hasn't been any change in the ticket price on the initial screen and the £20 tickets only come up when you actually try and buy tickets (which I hadn't done) and now only group tickets I can get are for in the Arena corners which in recent years have tended to contain more people not very interested in the darts than other areas.
Might give this year's PL a miss and just do Blackpool or Bolton.

I think Seetickets are the best ones to approach as they are selling the majority of tickets and always deal with the pre sale tickets I get. This link has all ticket info on, it does say 6 is the limit per person so I think best would be to ring them and see what they say. I think they do normally do group bookings but not sure how you go about it

Indeed and I think we're both agreeing in a roundabout way anyway, we both know Taylor and Waddell are good, and always have been, fort darts. I think SKY over do their love for Taylor and as the others improve around him the most desperate they become to mention him.
Anyone watching Lakeside? A good mate of mine is playing in it this year, Stephen Bunting, beat Scott Waites last night and is the quarters against Dean Winstanley tomorrow night.

That's the one I meant - The News of the World Darts Championship.
Why is it ironic? I was watching a mate play in the biggest tournment of his year and the biggest games of his career, I'm a darts fan so I watch BDO and PDC although I have a preference to one over the other. I still don't see your point.

Gutted for him tonight, he didn't deserve that the way he played but again his finishing let him down. He went out in round one last year and had a dart to win most legs but didn't take his chances. I've sent him a text but he probably wasn't in the mood to reply. He's a cracking lad, he'll be back. To be fair he did say playing Waites was the biggest match of his career so to win that and get the experience of a quarter final can only do him good.
Martin Phillips against Wolfie should be a decent game tomorrow.

Just comparing World Championship averages, the top BDO average in their Championship this year (92.40) would make 19th on the PDC list.
Stephen Bunting over his 3 matches was 91.78 and that would be 22nd.

But yet there have been some utterly fantastic matches at the Lakeside mate, regardless of averages.
The difference between both is that the PDC commentators don't shut up about 3 dart averages, the graphic is on there for 5 minutes, Waddell goes on about the world record, it gets shoved down your throat every 10-15 minutes.
The BDO comms focus on the darts in hand, the graphic is on there for about 20 seconds, mentioned a couple of times and then back to the darts.
The averages discussion tends to only be used by PDC-ites in order to bag the BDO. The PDC-ites don't look deeper in to the BDO, they don't see the great matches that have been played. All they want to see is the 3 dart averages and then use that info to take the pish out of the BDO. Yeah, the BDO doesn't have the best averages in the world, but me personally I couldn't care less. I enjoy watching both organisations. I don't watch a match just to see what averages someone is having, I watch the match because I'm interested in darts.
Today's semi finals and a couple of the quarters have been really good matches, some very close indeed.

Couldn't comment on the 2nd semi did not see it, the first I found quite entertaining when it got going. I think the PDC to some extent does ram the averages down your neck, especially after one leg . The whole presentation of the darts on bbc I find really irritating, might be because Im used to the PDC the loud (sometimes ignorant) PDC crowd and a carnival atmosphere but thats no disrespect to the BDO. I really like that Bunting lad, Think in a few years He'l be challenging the rest of the BDO. From a financial point of view, If I had talent at darts (I Can count thats about it ) I'd probably get the experience on the BDO circuit and then go make a decent living on sky. RE: The debate about Taylors effect on darts. its obvious he has raised its profile along with sky and vice versa, they play off each other all in the games interest imo. Really looking forward to the Premier league too, no 'gimmes' like in recent years. Essay over
