| Quote ="Matt23"Frank Bruno and some other pundits tipped Harrison last night
'"
Come on, Bruno was stupid 20 years ago, all the problems he has encountered since won't have made him any brighter....He's probably as clued up on Boxing as most of us...
I think most sane people never gave Harrison a hope in hell....Why would this coward suddenly change from a scared fighter into a all-conquering World Champion overnight??
I actually thought that Audley might have, at least, shown a bit of guts with it being is 'destiny' fight and that it might have gone a little further, but, in hindsight, how it did end shouldn't be any surprise to anybody who has followed this gutless wonder throughout his career.
As for Pacquiao??....A wonderful display and I really hope they can get a fight on with Mayweather.....However, I still favour Floyd, purely because he won't be stood in front of Manny like a punchbag, unlike many of Pacquiao's recent opponents (Hatton, Cotto, Margarito) and I think Mayweather can definitely frustrate and dent Manny's defences.

| Stolen from 606:
My own postscript would be to reflect that we have finally lost (one ardently hopes) in Audley Harrison the living embodiment of Monty Python's Black Knight from the "Holy Grail". Still claiming that he was dragging Haye out of his comfort zone by throwing no punches whatever, Audley was carted into the night, I suppose. You can just hear the echoes of Cleese, minus arms and legs: "Come back and fight..."

Mararita was injured, but the injury wasn't getting any worse. There never really looked to be any point in the fight where Mararita was really in danger of suffering from not being able to defend himself. So IMO the ref was right to allow Mararita a puncher's chance of taking the fight.'"
Agree 100%. Yes he was injured, but it wasn't getting any worse. The ref asked him twice how many fingers he was holding up and he got it correct on both occasions. The pac man won comfortably, but Magarito did some damage to him several times on the ropes and kep coming forward. If he had not been throwing puches, there could have been more of an argument to stop the fight, but he fought for the whole 12 rounds.

| Harrison was a disgrace. To go in there and throw one jab in 3 rounds is a pathetic effort that any of us could've done. I would happily take a pounding off David Haye if I got the pay day Harrison will get for that. Truly embarrassing and he should retire and never return. As for Haye, he did nothing for 2 rounds and caught Harrison with his 1st right hand. You can't really judge Haye on it, Harrison was that poor. He should fight the Klitchskos next, where at least he'll be challenged consistently for 12 rounds.
As for Pacquiao, a truly brilliant performance. IMO, it was his best of his more recent fights as he fought a guy much bigger than him and completely dismantled him. His speed, power, angles, accuracy is sensational, I could watch a Pacquaio fight anyday and get my moneys worth. If Mayweather and Pacquiao don't fight next year it's a disgrace to the sport.

| I caught a bit of a radio interview with the Klitschko brothers manager today, and it seemed to me he was claiming as they both had the more distinguished titles that Haye should dance to their tunes, in other words a fight in Germany.
As Haye has already travelled to Germany before for a title fight, and the brother's reluctance to fight here a neutral venue should be decided upon, i think Madison Square Garden would be a fitting venue

The 3 fighters you mention are no 'punchbags'. They all are/have been top draw boxers in their time. Pacquiao just made them look very average. Very, very tough one to call but I reckon Manny has what it takes to stop pretty boy......

Didn't mean it to sound like I was questioning their abilities....I was questioning their styles, which are all walk forward, head relatively still type of thing.....Mayweather would be moving, countering Manny, and basically not getting his head taken off with those very fast combos.
Even though Manny won well, he also got tagged and hurt a few times by Margarito.....I'm guessing Floyd might stiffen his legs a few times too.

why?
unless audley was in on it too its upto the fighter to decide when he wants to finish the fight...
and he said he would finish him in 3 rounds.. nothing wrong with that
not like he has to make more money from the fight already made 5million

Because he said he told friends and family to bet big money on him winning it in the 3rd round. That is not right. You can't bet and compete in any other sport. Why should boxing be different?

| Fraudley does it again, what a joke.
Hope Haye can get a fight agreed with one of the brothers, there is no other fight to make.
Would love to see Manny v Floyd, first superfight in a long while that would be!

| So, Mayweather vs Pacquio.
I've been off work ill the last two days and because I've been under weather have been unable to do anything constructive so I've been catching up on some boxing stuff watching a popular online video sharing site etc.
Curious about the allegations Pacquiao is using performance enhancing drugs, I've done some digging and found out that it's not only the Mayweather camp who are suspicious of Pacquiao; but Cintron, Malignaggi, Cotto, De La Hoya and now Hatton have raised their concerns.
Malignaggi in particular has some interesting points regarding his claims on some online interviews.
There's also been Teddy Atlas (former Tyson & Moorer cornerman) and Tim Smith of the New York Daily News referring to emails sent to the Mayweather camp from the Pacquiao camp about what would happen if Pacquiao failed the test.
Regardless of the inconsistent reasons spouted by the Paquiao camp about why he won't agree to random drug testing, the most authoritive and damning interview I found was by the CE of USA Doping Agency, Travis Tygart's who was involved in the negotiations:- read for yourself here:-
[urlhttp://www.mlive.com/mayweather/index.ssf/2010/01/usadas_travis_tygart_current_d.html[/url
Another worrying interview with the guy involved in the BALCO scandal, Victor Conte and it leads me to the conclusion that random drug testing is the only way to rid boxing of cheats:-

| after the haye v harrison fight.. some proper boxing this weekend!!
froch v abraham... fancy froch in this, a fan of both but think abraham starts too slow and froch will build up a lead he cant get back... cant see any knockouts as both got good chins.. froch on points!
marquez v katsidis ... two more warriors.. fancy katsidis, tough and his brother dying last month will spur him on even more to become the champ!

I think Abraham will knock out Froch in the mid to late rounds. Froch keeps his guard too low and that spells trouble against a fighter with Abraham's power.
Marquez vs Katsidis has the makings of a classic, I think they'll both come out swinging and keep swinging untill one of them can't get back up. I'll say Katsidis 8th round stoppage.

froch does keep his guard low but still handled pascal and kesslers shots, think abraham is too slow to get to froch, he got showed up a little by dirrell who is also quick.
can get some fancy prices with the bookies for katsidis 8/1 to win on points, 10/3 to win by ko, 9/4 to win fight
froch & katsidis double £10 pays £71 with victor chandler...

Hopefully, people will now give him due respect.....He's a top fighter, real warrior, and best of all, doesn't dodge a fight!!

That was as good a performance that I've ever seen from any British boxer away from home. Totally dominated the fight from the first bell.

Froch gave Abraham the battering of his life. It's alright saying Abraham has power, and his record at middleweight shows that, but when he has the boxing ability of an arthritic snail compared to Froch, then you don't get any chance to show it.

| Abraham was completely out of his depth last night - couldn't get close enough to land and was clearly intimidated by Froch's attacks, especially to the body. Froch was immense, boxed perfectly throughout.

| I couldn't have been more wrong!
Froch fought a near perfect fight. Brilliant stuff.
Marquez got off the deck in the 3rd to stop Katzidis in the 9th and then called out Manny Pacquiao for a 3rd fight. I can't see it happening myself.

Kessler is finished with a bad injury....Froch's next fight will be a semi final of the SuperSix series, which is apparently going to be against Glen Johnson and then, hopefully, a final against Andre Ward or Abraham.
You have to give Froch credit....Despite all the bad mouthing he has received from Calzaghe, he is steadily building a legacy that the Welshman could only dream of.....Maybe if Calzaghe had shown more ambition in his choice of opponent, then perhaps he could have been remembered in a higher esteem that he presently is....Its because of this that you have to wonder if Calzaghe might be getting itchy feet?
