sevilla made hard work of it 1st half. the keeper standing in for palop pulled off some cracking saves.

Depor were going nicely until Juan Rodriguez passed the ball to Xavi for the first goal. I know Barcelona are brilliant but as an opponent you simply cannot let yourself be so lax and sloppy - it will cost you dearly, more so than any other team. I thought Depor were alright but am baffled as to why Cristian started over the infinitely superior Lafita. Lotina seemed to be in damage-limitation mode before a ball had been kicked. Bodipo looked isolated all game. Fantastic appearance off the bench from Iniesta, also thought Abidal and Henry were superb.

Sevilla made very heavy weather of beating Numancia - who only have themselves to blame. Barkero and Brit missing good chances. Renato best player on the park by a mile. Diego Capel looked decent in the small patches of play when he wasn't throwing himself to the turf like a pansy. Pillock.

iniesta almost scored with his first touch, and WHAT a goal it would have been.

Well not quite, good late drama though with Athletic nicking it with an injury time penalty, good to see them going well.

Well a point at Almeria isn't really good enough, especially as they played for so long in the 2nd half with ten men, although at least Aguirre did make some positive changes to try and get a result, even if they didn't work.

Given Malaga's climb up the table in recent weeks at least this means that the game I'm going to next week is a pretty important one.

Barcelona's lead remains at 12, Real Madrid scoring three second half goals to end a scare at home to Osasuna. Valencia's slip-up in that entertaining game at the San Mames means there's a 4-point gap betwee them and Sevilla in third. Only goal difference keeps Malaga, unstoppable at the moment, out of the European spots as they leapfrog Deportivo. Villarreal's important win sees them fifth.

At the bottom, a big win away for Real Betis with Sergio Garcia scoring twice, that puts them six points clear of the drop. There's a gap opening up between the bottom three and the rest, Osasuna are 7 points from safety, Mallorca 6 and Espanyol 5. Racing's win at Getafe, thanks to Nikola Zigic, sees them enter the top half.

the ref who officiated the game yesterday at the bernabeu has been taken off the copa del rey game between espanyol and barça due to his terrible performance (terrible unless you're a madrid fan).

Which is a shame because he is a tryer, i think Aguero having a word will have him sat down for the next game aswell.
