I think that's the fight most people want to see. Cotto is brutal and if he managed to open Mayweather's brilliant defence up he would cause huge problems for him. Not sure it'd be the greatest of fights, but it'd be an intriguing one.
Cotto v Margarito will be a superb fight on July 26th, don't miss that one!

| Watched the Hatton fight at the weekend and enjoyed it. Hatton controlled the entire fight and threw some great punches. Fair play to Lascano who did remarkably well to stay the distance. Fancy Hatton to get better after this fight next time out.

| So Floyd Mayweather announces his retirement from boxing.
However you feel about Floyd, and it hurt me when he beat Ricky the way he did, you can't knock his achievements in the sport and how good he was. I now feel privileged to have been present for his last performance in the ring.
On the one hand I'm gutted that Ricky won't get a chance to avenge his defeat, but on the other I'm kind of glad as I always feared the worst again anyway in any potential rematch.
Here's to Floyd, a great champion!

Hmmm, seems a strange one. The dream dies for so many boxers like De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto who would've loved a(nother) crack at Floyd. I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed I think he's got several good fights in him and I was personally desperate to see PBF v Cotto. Then again, he's announced he's retirement before, so you never know. Although his statements seem pretty final, this time.
You can't knock his achievements though. Top quality boxer and arguably the best defensive boxer ever.

Watched that fight as well, Appleby looks a real talent and just seemed too busy for Simpson to cope with. I really like the look of Paul Truscott as well, another young featherweight who won the commonwealth title on Sky a few weeks back.
Just been watching M'Baye v Ngoudjo on Eurosport and they bloody lost the connection just after the 12th round finished with both fighters celebrating and they never got it back so I haven't got a clue who won! Pretty annoying!

Cheers, the Eurosport commentators seemed pretty convinced M'Baye had done enough to win the fight so I'm surprised it was a unanimous decision. I can't see Ngoudjo beating Malignaggi really, well so long as he cuts his hair before getting in the ring this time.
Lockett v Pavlik tonight, I can't see an upset happening but it should still be worth a watch anyway.

| I read in the paper this morning that there is talk about the possiblity of a Ricky Hatton v Oscar De La Hoya Superfight in September now that PBF has retired. No idea what weight that would be and it doesn't make alot of sense in boxing terms, but financially it makes alot of sense.

| Unsurprisingly Lockett got his backside handed to him by Kelly Pavlik, who I reckon is going to boss that division for years to come.

Especially when Joe Calzaghe retires. Be interesting to see if they fight each other or not.

Not going to happen. JC has too much to lose. Roy Jones is the safest option and thats whom I expect him to fight.

It's on the BBC Sports Ticker at the moment, saying it wont happen, but there's no story at present.

Seems more likely that Hatton v Pacquio will take place next year by the sounds of that and that probably makes more sense for Hatton than De La Hoya does. For a start, he'd be at his natural weight. That would be brutal aswell, both exciting to watch and love to throw punches.

| Hatton v De La Hoya will eventually happen, I can see it being rickys second to last fight.
How does Hatton v Pacquiao make sense at all??? Manny is a featherweight compared to Hattons welterweight. Hatton would destroy Pacquiao

| How does Hatton v De La Hoya make sense? Hatton will have to go to at least 147, possibly to 150lbs to fight Oscar. His sheer size would be too much for Hatton. Pacman is stepping up the ranks and is now a lightweight. Neither fights are perfect matches, but they are "Superfights" and that's what attracts the money men.

Pacquiao fights at super-feather (130lbs) and is big at the weight. Hatton has been most effective at light-welter (140lbs). I reckon Pac Man could handle a move up to 140lbs without losing too much effectiveness.
