Look, I know our squad isn't good enough. My point is that IF we keep our spine fit we'll be miles better than the 7th we finished last year, good enough for 4th place IMO. If the other 6 players step up and play to their potential we could possibly do a bit better. What's so funny? 2 years ago the same team give or take a couple scored 86 premiership points. The 2 main missing players Alonso and Mascherano scored 1 goal between them all season. I know teams have improved which is why I'mnot setting my sights on top 2 or 3. I'd take top 4 and I firmly believe we are capable.

Gerrard has been gash for 2 seasons now and the ladyboy was annonymous for the entire 2009/2010 season. if you really think they are suddenly going to recapture their best form under a mid table manager coupled with the arival of someone who does 25 step overs and then gives the ball away before getting injured, you are clearly mistaken.

As for the rest of the "spine", they would struggle to get in most of last seasons top half premiership clubs.

Nothing I 'don't like about him' he's a decent defender but hardly someone I would single out as top quality. The best thing going for Joe Cole was that he got limited opportunity at the World Cup and thus came home with a better reputation through not playing than he would have if he had played!

Just because he can play both positions doesn't mean he's any good there. Emile Heskey went the World Cup, England do pick , that means nothing. I bet two weeks ago you wouldn't have been so happy with a signing of Luke Young's calibre.

Torres was anonymous last year. Well,when he was injured he was. Other than that he scored 22 goals in 32 games. I don't know how he managed to get by being so anonymous with such a great record.

Neville is finished, Hibbert never got started (don't tell me that Everton fans like him,I know for a fact the majority despair when he plays) and Ferreira is possibly the most overrated full back I've ever seen. For £2million I'd take Luke Young over the £14 million it cost for Ferriera

You've clearly made yourself look like a tit too 'cos Heitinga hasn't been playing centre half for us he's been playing DM.

But we'll play your game anyway, no Agger wouldn't dislodge Heitinga or Jagielka from the centre of defense. Your spine isn't as wonderful as you make it out to be, on lasy year's showing Gerrard was gash and a bit more of the same will do nicely.

On last years showing I'd rather have Arteta, Fellaini or Cahill over Gerrard, all had much much better seasons.

I did see something about that, you can't blame the lad for trying. He might as well try and get an extra few quid warming your bench instead of Villa's dressing room. I don't see how he's an improvement on them too, he probably isn't any worse I'll give you but I don't think he's much better. Course he'll be lucky to get a game, he couldn't get a game for Villa, he shouldn't be playing for you.



I'm not saying a lot of Everton fans are big Hibbert fans but He's better than Luke Young. The thing with Hibbert defensively he's better than most would have you believe, his tackling is spot on and he does have a bit of pace, he doesn't get caught out very often. You know the main reason why Everton fans arn't big Hibbert fans (I think despair is going a little OTT!) because he is going forward, he can't beat a man, his crossing is awful and he's never scored

because it's become the fashion that as a FB now you must be able to attack, it's crazy. But we have Seamus Coleman coming through, he is our next FB and believe me the lad is pure class. Now he is a complete FB.

He played in 32 of 56 games. I'd say he actually started less than half of the 56. Also, I said "about" 50%. Of total minutes played by Liverpool last season I'd bet Torres didn't even do 50%

Edit - He played 1713 minutes in the PL. Without injury time 38 x 90 is 3420. Including injury time he played less than 50% of time for Liverpool.

Football is all about opinions. ATEOTD Hibbert has never had a sniff of England recognition and no teams seem to have ever come in for him. Young has had both, in abundace. I know he isn't top drawer but I'd rather have him over Hibbert. You wouldn't, fair enough.

Seen a bit of Coleman and he looks excellent.

Always liked it, since the days of Hyppia and Henchoz.

The thing with Cole is he has never livec up to the hype surrounding him as a young player. Maybe an extended run in his favourite position may bring that out in him but I'm not convinced he'll ever be the player he was expected to be.

I can understand people's reservations but even last season when he wasn't playing much, he still looked dangerous when he came on. Forgetting his goal, he was the bestplayer on the field at OT in the title decider for mine. Again, maybe I'm being too optimistic but we are desperate for some direction in the middle of the field and to take the pressure off Gerrard. For me, Cole is a great acquisition as he is hungry to prove himself. As Rooney said, he's the closest thing england has to a brazilian, and unless he was talking about his back, crack and sack, I'd take it as a complement!

Everytime?He's had the better of him twice. In 2007/2008 he was in the back pocket. We'll put an extra ball on for Gerrard next time so he can have a touch, either that or if he asks nicely Fletch he may let him tackle him.

In the last 2 years he's had 3 red cards against us and Torres has made him look fairly daft. Surely you can accept that?

We've won two out the last 4 and Gerrard didn't even play in one of them so Fletcher's done well to nail him. I always thought it was Anderson's pocket Gerrard had to get out of.
