| Quote ="Lord God Jose Mourinho"Pretty much all the results went the way to make the scousers motivation even lower for tomorrow.
Everton drew, which means they can't catch Liverpool for 7th spot. Spurs won and the Citeh-Villa game ended up with a winner, which means their chances of getting fourth are pretty much gone.'"
There's still one...
If Fulham win the Europa League, they get back in at the expense of 7th, so t'lot over t'park will want to finish 6th, to anchor down a Europa spot.
But, watch them roll over and die to give your lot a chance to blow the title on the final day ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| I know the scousers wanted to use winning the Europa League as a way to salvage something from a dreadful season, but is qualifying for the EL really something that they want?
If they don't have the EL next season, they can concentrate fully on the league and the FA Cup. While I thought their position last season of second was higher than their true position, there's no way on earth they are the 6th or 7th best side in England. A season of purely domestic football will enable them to regain their place among the top sides.
The EL is bloody brilliant for sides like Foolham. For Citeh it'll be a good stepping stone for their eventual appearance in the CL, but I just don't see what the EL holds for Liverpool. They are better off out of it.

Good point and I tend to agree. It could be looked at being in EL is at least a european competition but suppose as you say it doesn't really offer the red anything. They say the league table doesn't lie and you finish where you deserve after 38 league games so I have to disagree and this year Liverpool have been the 6th/7th best team this season.
Is it right that if Fulham win the EL Liverpool don't get into and europe?
On MOTD just mentioned something about if Fulham do win Burnley will be in the qualifying rounds?

Both scenarios
For Liverpool, they could finish 7th but not qualify for Europe, same as anyone else who finished 7th, if Fulham win the Europa
As for Burnley, currently the Premier League has a UEFA Fair Play spot, of all the clubs currently not in automatic CL/EL spots, and Fulham, Burnley are the highest team in the Fair Play League, meaning they'd get a place in the first qualifying round of the Europa, regardless of the fact they're relegated.
If Fulham lose in Hamburg, I think they'd get that instead of Burnley, but will have to play 6/8 games extra than if they win the tournament and go back in as holders.
I think anyway ![Confused icon_confused.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_confused.gif)

| Are you sure Fulham take the place of 7th if they win the trophy?
Not that, just I read it mentioned on one of the Liverpool forums that we're definitely in European competition next year, no mention of Fulham was made.

| if fulham win the EL then they will not be able to defend the trophy next season. the premier league stated a while back that if either liverpool or fulham won the EL they would not automatically qualify for next seasons competition, which in my mind is disgraceful.

Liverpool football club need to have some serious thought on the future if They are to get back amongst the european elite, At the moment They are some way off that position.

It won't have been the PL's decision, would it? It's down to the FA how they allocate the European qualification places.
Given that the FA will have played a strong part in getting Liverpool into the CL when they didn't qualify, it's ridiculous that they've gone against that principle a few years later.

| Based upon how this season has gone, Chelsea will lose today to Liverpool.
Then Man United will win at Sunderland.
United will draw at home against Stoke. Chelsea will be beating Wigan until injury time, but then concede an equaliser to make United champions.
I had a nasty dream (nightmare really) yesterday that Chelsea took a 2-0 lead against the scousers, only to draw 2-2.
Normally I get to watch most Chelsea games live as they are featured on Fox Soccer Channel quite a lot. But if Chelsea aren't on I watch on a dodgy feed from anywhere I can. But with today being a special day I'm not going to risk the the dropped feeds and am going to pay to watch an authorised feed on Fox Soccer Online. But knowing my luck the torrential rain and thunder/lightning storms will knock out my leccy. ![Evil or Very Mad icon_evil.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_evil.gif)

It's nothing to do with either the PL or the FA.
The winners of the Europa League gain automatic entry to the group stages of the competition for the next season, it's also now the same for the Champions League.

| Quote Rafa Benitez says he is delighted with the versatility of £20million signing Alberto Aquilani, and with good reason. AA is just as effective in the stands as he is on the subs' bench.
The Liverpool boss has been criticised for getting a player who looks so unsuited to English football but this was a step-up - several of his previous buys were unsuited to football.
Aquilani wears the permanent look of a terror-struck female babysitter in an 80s slasher movie, a look shared by Kopites whenever they see him warming up.'"

Just realised you can have alternative commentary. Much better. Getting score updates from other games as well.

Its what I heard anyway, similar to the situation where if the Champions League winner finishes outside the CL places, they get in.
I'm not totally sure though. UEFA don't tend to make these things that clear.

| I'm sure the Mancs will start with their suspicions after that
Can't believe how poor Chelsea have been, they've had absolutely no pace or energy in midfield without Essien. Probably the 'luckiest' or 'poorest' goal Chelsea will score this year and it could so happen to win them the title.

He's terrible, there isn't anyone on terrestrial TV worth listening to when it comes to football commentary though.
Like most football supporters I don't need someone telling me what is happening on a football pitch (I can get my fix of ill-informed idiocy on here), oh for a "crowd noise only" option.
