Cutler's just a big cry baby and needs to grow up .There are rumours that he asked for a trade after Shanahan and his QB coach were let go so he's not a innocent as people think.
What's McDaniels supposed to do when he's got a chance to get a QB he mentored for the last year who knows his system,the only problems with the whole thing was the Patriots let Cassell go to the Cheifs and it all got leaked out.
If it was a Brady or a peyton Manning he was letting go I could understand all the furore but this is a QB who I admit had good numbers last year but still when the team needed just 1 win in their last 4 games to get his team in the playoffs he couldn't get the win needed.A top class QB would have.

This is entirely McDaniels' fault.

Firstly you never ever trade or talk about trading your franchise QB (although as a Bears fan i don't expect you to understand the concept of a franchise QB

). Certainly not when the player you are trading is arguably elite or on the verge of being elite. Added to the fact that the player he wanted has started 15 games since high school and is an average player (Cassell is no better than Thigpen).

Not only that. McDaniels then denied he had entertained trade talks, then back tracked and said people approached him and they considered it. McDaniels had a meeting with Cutler and effectively said yes your our QB (by default) but i'm not ruling out the possibility of a trade in the future. Cutler was willing to go back but didn't get the answers/assurances he wanted.

Frankly i think Cutler is well within his rights to demand a trade. He has all the leverage. If he doesn't want to play, and i understand why with a head coach like that, then he doesn't play. He will get his trade and it is entirely the fault of McDaniels who has set the franchise back 5 years.

I disagree. Thigpen is equally as good as Cassell if not better and already knows the sytem. Cutler is a relatively poor passer and was helped massively by the fact he just threw short passes to Moss and/or Welker.

Cutler is only counting just over $1million on the Broncos cap this season so he ain't going anywhere.How can you say he's a franchise QB when he's never lead the team to the playoffs and he has a losing record as a starter.He's a slightly better than average QB who has an over inflated view of himself shown last season when he said he had a better arm than Elway,he's not good enough to lace Elways boots.

He is way more than average. He is a fantastic QB. As for the comments about Elway he [umay[/u have a stronger arm than him but that is not to say he is a better player, and he has never claimed he is.

A franchise QB is somebody you can build a team around for years to come. Cutler is one of those players.

I think they obviously see a franchise QB as someone who can lead a team for years to come and have a winning record but with the amount of coaching changes that happen nowadays its hard.

i.e shanahan saw a lot in cutler and a few more years together im sure it would have come together for them, but now youve got a coach come in who IMO will be very good in the long term but needs his own players to do so. He just chose the wrong way of doing things and if he does lose Cutler which looks likely he will regret it but every coach makes mistakes.

Its easy for people to say the obvious ones like Brady, Manning e.t.c the proven ones but the franchise qbs are the up and coming qbs with massive potential like Matt Ryan say but again he could be a one season wonder.

Another thing you said was McDaniels set the Broncos back 5 years with this but if they drafted the right QB Flacco and Ryan showed last year you can turn a Franchise round in 1 year not 5.

I'm sure many people agree with me. Including most NFL coaches, Cutler top 10 pick. Cassell who knows where and even after his break out season only worth a 2nd round pick. McDaniels only prefers Cassell because A) he's an idiot B) he has coached him previously. If he was/is that in love with Cassell then he should offer Cutler to Kansas City for Cassell.

Your either extremely high on Cassell or extremely down on Cutler. I'm sure you'll change your mind if, as some rumours suggest, the Bears are interested in Cutler.

They will need the number one pick to get Stafford. Will Detroit go for Cassell and give that up. Will they want the number one pick with all the financial implications. I doubt it.

Sanchez is unproven and Freeman has split opinions on him.

If they get one of those three can they be expected to play straight away. Ideally you want them to sit for a few seasons ala Rodgers to get up to NFL speed. You don't want a Joey Harrington/David Carr situation where they are beaten up/ not up to it and then bottle it.

Even if they are expected to play straight away then they still need to learn the system.

Realistically it will be one full season until they are upto speed with the system and the NFL.

5 years may be excessive, more likely 3 years until they are playing consistently at the same level as Cutler.



Cutler is higher in virtually all statistics than Cassell was last year.

I've seen the rumours and I will admit he would be an upgrade on Orton but Marino would struggle to impress in our offence with the group of recievers we've got
