Played Voy Pur Estedes, expected Punchestown to beat Kasbah Bliss, it did but Big Bucks spoiled that party.

Then to top it off, forget to back Widnes to cover the handicap tonight. That'll teach me to go to the pub at 7 o'clock for a quick drink.

My Petra - been layed out for this race, game little mare bidding to go one better than last year. She has the able assistance of Barry Gerraghty tommorow and at 10/1 or so she's worth a few quid.

Sky Hall - I fancy this one strongly, he was tanking along in the Ladbroke at Ascot when coming down three from home. The handicapper's not put him up for that fall and he has the same 7lb claimer on board again. Would advise a decent bet at 20/1 first 5 places with 365.

Cape Tribulation - was a useful horse on the flat and he's transforming that form to hurdles, this 3m trip will be right up his street and with a false favourite the 7/2 has to be taken about this fellow.

I've had a fair bit on Sky Hall now, c'mon Carney lad, don't let me down.

Yet another nearly day, Buena Vista, Voy Por Ustedes and Ping Pong Sivola all close but no cigar.

Just can't get away from the feeling that Denman can't win and that Kauto Star is rank bad value. Neptune Collonges (another from the Nicholls stable) each-way might be the play.

Cape Tribulation (Malcolm Jefferson) has a fine chance in the 3 mile Novice Hurdle.

I've backed Sesenta in the race too (2nd to Quevega last time out). Currently 33's with Hills.

I really can't make my mind up about Denman.

On one hand, is he fully recovered and back to anywhere near his best ?

On the other, if you took out Madison Du Burlais from his last run then he beat a lot of good horses by a distance on his first run for 11 months. You would expect him to have improved for that run.

At his current price of 6/1 he could well turn out to be the bargain bet of the century.

But.......

Got £50 on Kauto today, it must be his race this year...
