Yeah pretty similar situation to denver aswell IMO what with new coaches although they have more weapons to get them there atm

And yet, they'll have seen with Matt Ryan the impact a rookie QB can have on a franchise...

| Cutler is 100% correct on this issue. Firstly he is 10x better than Cassell is, and secondly why would you want to stay at a team who clearly don't want you and have attempted to trade you and would prefer a one season wonder player who has played about 15 games total since high school. I also don't buy that Denver weren't offering him, they claimed that they were approached. I really don't believe that. As Cutler has said, nobody has made/attempted trades for Eli or Peyton or Brady or any elite QB. There must have been some indication from Denver, people don't just offer you ridiculous trades, especially not numerous teams. McDaniels has refused to apologise also.
I'd definately want out of that situation. He'll end up in Tampa for me. As stated, the number one pick is too much of an economical hit to take. I'd rather take 19 (Tampa's pick i think?) and other picks than number one overall.

My point was he was a first round pick and has been earning a lot of money for doing nothing and just because he was a number 1 pick

For the amount of money hes pocketed and the fact hes still there i think the 49ers are thinking on the same lines but surely he should be the permanent starter by now

| There is apparantly talk of a 3 way trade for Cutler.
Cutler -> Detroit
Matt Leinart/Brady Quinn -> Denver
Picks -> Arizona/Cleveland

| The logical choice for the Broncos would be Quinn as he has played in the style of offence McDaniels uses when he played under Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame.

| Either is a bad trade really. They will be getting an inferior QB and he is still in the AFC.
Dark horses are Houston and Buffalo Imo. Tampa/Detroit are most likely though being in the NFC.
McIdiot has managed to single handedly set his franchise back about 5 years.

Maybe so but Cutler is a great player. He's knocking on the door of the elite players (Manning's, Brady, Big Ben). You never trade, or even entertain trades for you franchise QB. They are such an irreplacable quantity.
They now have to find a QB and build him up to a pro-bowl standard. That is 3-5 years.

| We've strengthend in areas of need, we'll still need to upgrade in the draft. We aren't that far off considering we won in both Pittsburgh and Arizona last season.

Chris Carr to the Ravens
Mark Jones to the Titans
Levi Jones may be leaving Cincinatti.

I agree Mr Conroy, Houston and Buffalo are both good young teams on the rise and have weapons at all 3 offensive positions and good defences, where do you think Green Bay will end up? In a weakish division and the scary thing is that Ridgers will probably improve some more also.

To be honest Green Bay wise i'm not too sure.
Rodgers was one of our better players last year, and definately wasn't the reason for our poor results.
Frankly a hell of alot depends on how we transfer to a 3-4 defence which is a relative unkown as of now. Will Kampman play well as a linebacker? Will Pickett be Ok at NT? We are definately going defensive in the draft so alot depends on who we get. Frankly i expect an average season defensively.
On offence we are pretty much set. We could do with some OT's for the future as our are ageing. WR is set, we just need to give Jennings an extension. Grant needs to be more productive early on in the season but he's ok.
I'd be happy with anything around 8-8 to 10-6.
Potentially, as you say with the weak division, we could make the play-offs with that. Division could be blown wide open though if either Chicago or the Vikes manage to get a good QB in the draft or somehow get Cutler.

Very boring last few days free agency wise IMO to say that Tory Holt is still out there amongst others

Great pick up for the Raiders. Very under-rated centre and will be great in the Zone Blocking Scheme. Only rumoured to be a sixth round pick.
Rumours around that Detroit are working on contracts with potentially first pick players. Stafford, Smith, Monroe and Curry. Apparently also it has been leaked that Smith (Tackle from Baylor whose first name eludes me) is the guy who Detroit are going to take at number one. That means, if true, they will go Josh Freeman at QB with the 20th pick assuming both Sanchez and Stafford are gone or make a trade for Cutler.
