I dont think its lack of passion, its inhibition caused by years of facing medium paced seamers on soft green wickets.

Just seen the result on the BBC. That's a very, very big total to chase down in the women's game, even at Taunton. Given we were 43-2 as well, that's even more of an accomplishment.

| Well that was a cracking match in the 2nd woman's semi final between England v Australia
Australia made 163 - 5 in there 20 overs
England made it for the lose of 2 wickets with 3 balls to spare mainly thanks to a partnership of 122 from 75 balls Claire Taylor 76no and Beth Morgan 46no
Which now brings a repeat of the woman's ODI world cup final with New Zealand

| I nearly switched off after 10 overs of England's innings, thought we were well out of it. Great knock by Taylor.

To be fair mate, GT's opinions on this competition (and the domestic version) have been clear from the start.
The fact that England didn't play well has absolutley no relation to the Ashes.
The truth is though, this version of the game can make players very, very rich, so some players may see performing well in T20 more importantly than some England followers.
Well done to the ladies. The fact that my sister has the same name as the best female cricketer in the world never fails to amuse me. The, now customary, "Good knock 'r kid" text has been sent. She hates cricket, in fact she hates all sports, so does not see the funny side.

Agreed.
We didn't lack effort or passion, we lacked runs and big hitters in the middle-lower order.
Our whole tournament was summed up from about over 11 until we had batted 19.4 overs against the West Indies in the Super Eights when we hadn't hit one boundary in that period!
Simply not good enough in this form of the game.

| While I find it hard to get too worked up about T20, win or lose, I do think the overwhelming focus on The Ashes we have in England may well be to the detriment of the team.
It's almost as if nothing else matters, as soon as we lost the last series comment seemed to turn to this series, with everything in between as an afterthought. Yes the Ashes are prized by the Ockers too, but they don't make it the be all and end all, and seem to have a more focused, professional attitude to all their series' and opponents.

Thats been a problem since 2005 when we won it over here.
Since then the players seem to have struggled to get themselves up for any other test series and have paid the price. They'll be bang up for this series coming up but that doesn't mean they'll get the win because they're up against a side that'll be determined to prove a few people wrong who've wrote them off.
I think KP is the prime example of this. He's the best batsman in the world quite easily imo but he just doesn't seem to be able to get pumped up 95% of the time and looks to have been waiting for this Ashes series to some round for about 2 years now.
He'll hit mountains of runs imo.

The best batsmen in the world don't just perform when they want to, they do it all the time...ie Ponting, Jayawardene, Tendulkar, Chanderpaul to name but 4...KP has almost all the attributes to be the best batsman in the world but his concentration/decision-making at times stop him getting to the very top spot...in my opinion of course.

| Did Sri Lanka do well to pull their innings around, or did Pakistan just remember their instructions from the bookies?
Looked bleak for SL early doors but I think they'll do it now.

| Well, Pakistan knock the runs off with an over and a bit to spare.
It's about time Shahid Afridi turned his potential ability into something, and he's definitely turned it on for the semi and the final, when it really matters I guess.
Fairly entertaining tournament all in all.

Strange how they could look quite that bad against England then go on to win the whole thing - if you're of a suspicious nature, that is...

Actually, it would have been. Much in the same way that I couldn't give a flying one about Lancashire winning the domestic competition or not.
Twenty20 is OK for a quick blast of entertainment, but it certainly is not cricket, it's not important and people shouldn't forget it's place compared to First Class cricket.

I'm glad someone's been paying attention.

Broad should have never played for England again after that.
