Worcs now favourites to win.....Bit of a balls-up by Lancs if they let this one slip away, and will surely see an end to their title hopes?

Proof again that Boycott's old "add 2 wickets for 10 runs" adage makes the game look completely different, gotta fancy Lancs again now.

Back in the balance now, since Keedy has removed Solanki, who was set to guide Worcs home.
Hope Lancs' tail wrapping up issues go away for at least one innings....

I'll be amazed if Worcs win this now. I'd give them about a 20/1 chance, if that. They've repeatedly collapsed from promising positions all season; they've got a poor tail, all their top order batsmen are out. I wouldn't have fancied them even before those late couple of wickets went down, and on a general point I think people underestimate how hard it is to chase down 300+ batting last.

| Nice to see England announce what amounts to a Lions squad for an irrelevant one dayer against Ireland that will remove players from their counties for an important round of fixtures.
Superb timing.

| Still raining at Taunton on Day 4, so hard to see Somerset getting anything and Hampshire fighting back to on Day 3 against Warwickshire - 113 runs ahead with 6 left, so with a bit of luck ......
As a Lancashire fan, maybe, just maybe .......

The worst thing is you play them again next time out, so I might be left in the same position.
The consequences don't bear thinking about.

Such a dichotomy.
Would ANY die-hard Yorkshire fan forsake a place in the top division to prevent Lancashire finally taking the title?

They were 21/5, that poor tail scrambled them up to 202 and made a contest of it in the end. Lancs won it by 98 though.
13 ahead of Durham with 3 games to go, Warwicks on the verge of losing at Hampshire, and Somerset have drawn (just 6 points too), and we play Worcs again next. Is it finally going to happen?

The pessimist in me thinks that weather might still have his say....We have been unusually fortunate this year.
However, with only one home game out of three, and one of the away games in the deepest, darkest, weather-friendlier south, could mean Lancs might yet stay lucky.

I don't buy the weather argument. Every year people point at the weather affecting results you can point at one or two games we threw away. Sussex at Liverpool in 2007 being a prime example. For one reason or another we've just not been good enough - although playing on a result pitch at Aigburth has helped, as opposed to some of the turgid wickets we've prepared at OT.
Hotel's booked for Taunton, but only because it jumped in price £41 in two days. I'm still expecting to have to cancel it, mind.

| Yesterday summed up Yorkshire's season - rolled for under 300 by Warwickshire's Second XI attack (no Woakes, Clarke or Rankin) on a flat pitch having won the toss and batted first. Absolutely gutless.
Hopefully we'll get relegated if it means showing the door to the likes of Moxon and McGrath.

If there's no result by close of play tomorrow, Friday could be a washout which is obviously just as good.
Either way, the home game for Lancs v Hants on Sept 7th is looking increasingly appealing so I've got my ticket for Day 3 in readiness!

| Page 1 of this thread is a fascinating read....
Classic example of not setting your sights too high....Yorkshire fans talking about a possible title challenge, with their classy bowling attack...Lancs fans aiming for 4 home wins n order to escape the drop.
Personally, I think Lancs have shown the wisdom of having a decent coach....That fella at Headingley (is it Moxon?) hasn't a clue.
