| Trout gave it to Cotto good, although I don't think the margin was as wide as the judges made out. In our section everyone was saying Trout by a couple. Cotto started to fade at the mid point of the fight too and Trout was the aggressor for the rest then. I suppose, knowing what American judges go for, that's where the bigger margin came from. There were a lot of upset Cotto fans in MSG after the fight anyway, that's for sure. I was happy with the result anyway. I was cheering for Trout and he is the deserved champ.

Yeah, that's Cotto's wife and kids, and those women!! We got to meet them in a bar near the arena the night before while they were selling raffle tickets for a chance to win ringside seats. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe them
American girls love the English accent too

| Interesting that since Mayweather highlighted Pacquiao's 'training regime', Manny's performances have become a little more human....
Definite end of an era, it now looks like there is a vacuum at the top end of World Boxing.....Anybody got any ideas on who is going to step up and become the next big superstar??

| kessler beats magee easy, magee please retire, sick of seeing his name!
dagale looked very good against a seasoned pro like zuniga..
eubank jr stoppage was laughable even though he was going to win..
pacman...what a KO!! thought he was just about winning the fight but no one would of got up from that shot...the mayweather fight wont be happening now i dont think, if it did it wouldnt be on the 45-55 terms he was on about before the fight.
prob be a rematch with marquez again, everyone would want to see it!

Broner will be the next big thing in boxing IMO. Shame because he's just Mayweather mk II IMO, albeit with a bit more pop.

I actually meant a younger fighter......Once Froch has fought those two fights, he will probably retire.
I think Ward is likely to become the p4p champion, the problem is, he seems head and shoulders above his rivals, which, coupled with his style, makes his fights relatively dull.
I'd personally love to see the heavyweight division grab the spotlight again....If only Haye would take the sport seriously, David Price fulfil his potential and the US produce a decent contender, then along with Wladimir (Vitali will be gone soon), there might just be the chance of a few half decent bouts in the next few years.

maybe kell brook then if he beats alexander and khan... might be a longshot that though
current heavyweights all just waiting for klitchkos to retire then they can get the belt easy and call themselves champs.
how come povetkin hasnt got in with the ukraine brothers yet? hes the only unbeaten champ that holds one of the 4 belts at the moment

| Well after 4 fights some justice was finally done. Marquez should have at least 2 more wins over Pac IMO, and I'm so glad he managed to get the win in such emphatic fashion. Its clear Pac has been on the decline for a while, probably since the Hatton fight as his punch output has reduceded and he has become more involved in politics. It also seems clear to me that any chance of a fight between Pacman and Mayweather is just about dead in the water, although I've never been that bothered about seeing it because I've always been convinced Mayweather would be just too good for Pac. In many ways it could prove good for boxing as it gives the likes of Bronner, Gamboa, Rigondaux, Gary Russell Jnr, Golovkin, and Donaire the chance to really step up and become boxing's next big star.
On the subject of steroid use in boxing, there was an interesting article posted by a top boxing journo about Mayweather's steroid use. I'll try to find it and post a link on here.

| The Brook-Alexander fight is off because Brook has an ankle injury. Hearn hopes the fight will still takes place in February or March at the latest. Its a shame because I fancied Brook to KO Alexander.
Looking forward to a good weekend of boxing:
Khan-Molina (apprantly Angel Garcia will be one of Molina's assistant trainers and will oversee Khan's hands being wrapped)
Donaire-Arce.
Groves-Johnson.

| Alvarez looks to be being groomed as the next big Mexican star, and he's looked good so far although, he needs to step his competition.
I reckon Groves will stop Johnson, Johnson is now so far over the hill its sad.

| Looks like Price is fighting Tony Thompson next in Liverpool in Feb. It will be the 3rd fight in a row Price has fought someone over 40.
On a better note, Fury-Price has now gone to a purse bid.

Yes, but he can learn to protect it in a much wiser way - Look at Lennox Lewis. It could easily be argued he had a dodgy chin, but he learnt to protect it and box to his own strengths.
Khan needs to learn he has to use his speed of hand and foot and to simply box, rather than get engaged in Tyson-style brawls which, while entertaining, are suicidal for Khan's long term future.
Personally, I'm not sure he has the brain or the patience to become a 12 Round points win- type boxer.....I would expect a win tomorrow night and maybe a few more impressive wins in the near future, but he is an accident waiting to happen - Makes for good viewing though...

if khan loses this one he running out of people to blame!
fully expect him to win but i expected him to win the last two and he didnt, if he loses its back down to european level.
would of got more respect if he had gone and revenged his losses, prescott etc but instead just picked other easier fights..unlike froch, marquez, pacman
or even get the fight of 2011 back on with maidana!!!! look at pacman and marquez they have rematches... every body wanted to see a rematch but he didnt want to know, thats why people dont respect him like the other true warriors.
the talk of fighting mayweather was laughable.
think he will go for garcia next if he wins but this would be a massive danger with garcias punch power, wouldnt surprise me if he dodges him

....Its obvious from the tone of your posts that you don't rate Khan, but you do make me laugh with this assumption that once he gets hit by a big puncher then he will get knocked out?
The fact is, he has only been knocked out twice, both times against fighters he could be accused of under-rating....The biggest puncher he has ever faced, Marcos Maidana, he outboxed and, despite some scares which were only to be expected, he looked very good and very well prepared.
It seems to me that Khan's biggest enemy is over confidence - The more people expect him to get ko'd, the less its likely to happen, and vice versa when he faces a seemingly easier opponent.
Boxing wise, Khan is a class act....He has fast hands and hits accurately, he just needs to be more clever when he steps up to the top level.

nope dont rate khan, only gets credit for beating maidana in my book, showed great heart but that fight so easily could of been stopped by the ref at stages, fight of the year!!! loved it, why not get it on again? oh hang on....
once he gets caught he does his bambi leg wobbles, even fighters like limond and gomez but him on his backside (getting a longer than 10 count for the limond drop )
at world level he will get caught out again.
lightning hand speed though.

I'm not sure what Khan gains by having a rematch with Maidana....The only time he will need that fight is if he loses again and needs to make cash by getting involved in title-less fights that appeal to US audiences, in a similar way to the Gatti-Ward series.
While the first fight was a great one and Maidana certainly had his moments, the fact is, Khan was a class above him - On my card, he won it clearly by 4 or 5 points, and the suggestion that the ref could have stopped Khan is a bizarre one...Yes, he was wobbled and was on unsteady legs, but if he had been stopped, it would have been a scandal as Khan had similarly had Maidana in big trouble at various points in the bout.
