Yeah, I heard whisperings about NASN being rebranded into part of the ESPN franchise.

Can't believe they have not yet looked at renewing the CBC contract, it form quite a lot of NASN's current hockey output, with other matches broadcast on NBC, FOX and Versus.

Looking at the schedules on NASN.com the HNIC games are being shown on delay next sun and the week after its on live on NASN 2.I'm thinking it's the baseball playoffs that are messing up the HNIC schedules at the moment.

Sounds about right, thats normally how its gone over the years.

Let's hope so although at the moment I am not putting too much faith in their schedule. Up until Saturday the leafs and habs game was advertised as going to be on NASN 2 but they changed it to the red wings @ sens game, but used a US feed.

Not too fused that I missed the leafs game this week

but really hope that we have not seen the last of HNIC on NASN.

Boston Bruins have traded defenseman Andrew Alberts to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Ned Lukacevic and a fourth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The 2009 fourth round pick becomes a 2009 third round pick if the Flyers resign Alberts at the end of his contract which expires on June 30, 2009.

Rangers prospect Alexi Cherepanovhas sadly passed away at the age of 19. Apprently he caught Jaromir Jagr's ( who he had grown up idolising) elbow in the chest during a game and his heart stopped.

The arena did not have a defibrillator which is common practice in the NHL and saved Jiri Fishers life last season when a similar thing happened to him. Also the ambulance at the arena had been sent away and had to be recalled. He died in hospital after the game.

Apparently Jagr was heard shouting "wake up Alexi" with tears in his eyes. Pretty shoddy from the Russian league not to have the equipment that could have saved him when they are spending millions on players to keep them from the NHL.

He was drafted 17th overall in 2007.

I was only reading up on him last night aswell, wondering if he would ever be seen playing for the Rangers.

Leafs lose in a shootout to the Blues, after being 3-0 up at the end of the first

The Hawks get their first point of the season with a SO loss at home to the Preds.
Good times are hopefully not too far away and the homes fans have come back in their numbers since Rocky Wirtz has taken charge at the top. The home opener was a 21K sell out and season pass sales are up from just over 3K to 14K.

Just need that first win now to get themselves rolling.

He had 12 point in 14 KHL games this season and was delighted when the Rangers drafted him so i assume he would have played for them. He was ranked as their top prospect

Shocking news about Cherepanov,the only reason he got drafted 17 was the problem in getting Russian players over to the NHL these days.He was ranked in the top 5 all year leading up to the draft.

Really is tragic news and even worse for the fact had they had the medical equipment that all sporting venues should have his life, could have been saved.

Speaking to friend of mine in the states he reckons this guy was more than likely going to be one of the future NHL stars and reach his full potential and was very much a part of the Rangers future plans.

Enjoyed last nights game between Philly and Pittsburgh. Great toe to toe action in the 1st period between Goddard & Cote with Goddard shading it in the end with a belting haymaker. Pens snatched the game with 10 secs left in overtime.

Just watched that now was a tight contest in the 1st period.

Bad news for HNIC fans as NASN have changed schedules again and they will not now be showing the games originally scheduled for the next 2 weeks.It's now looking less and less likely that it will be back .It's another bad move by ESPN since they took over the channel as HNIC was one of the best things on it.With them dropping the CFL this year aswell it looks like it should now be called the USAN not NASN.

The scary thing is that the Raptors are actually the best team in Toronto right now in terms of ability to get to the playoffs.

The Hawks get their first win of the season against the Coyotes who went in to the game unbeaten. Hawks took the game 4-1 on home ice.

The win didn't help Denis Savard as the Hawks fired him today and replaced him with Joel Quenneville.That's a strange decision at this stage in the season.

For me I think it may be a good move. Quenneville is a great coach and doesnt take any messing which I think was maybe part of Savards problem as he was too nice to the players. Even when he kicked off big style lastseason he then kind of back tracked.

The Hawks have started flat with no real intestity and poor goaltending cost them the first 2 games of the season. Suprised they did this now though after the Hawks best performance of the season.

Rocky Wirtz and the new regime TBF have invested heavily in the club allround and are obviously keen to see some results. Think Scotty Bowman will have had I imagine a valued input into the firing on Savvy and appointment of Quennville with what he had seen since he agreed to join the Hawks in the advisory role.

The other thing this will do is send a message to the whole organisation that if you don't perform your out.

Time will tell if the management will be proved right.

Hawks blow a 3-1 lead against the Blues and go down 4-3 in the S/O. Quennville got his first win in as Hawks coach in the next game downing the Canucks 4-2.
