| Quote ="Roddy B"He was good at taking them for Ajax. It will probably be Gerrard or Adam from now on, but he's a confident lad and won't shy away from taking another. He generally played well, faded in the second half as his first touch started to desert him. Considering he's only been back training this week, 70 mins and a goal is good going. I reckon he'll get 20 in the league this year and set up over 10. Fantasy footy must-have, if I played it.'"
He's leading the line in my fantasy team
Was it a mistake to start him, bearing in mind he's had a busy summer and has only been back in training this week? You can't predict what the table will look like at the end of May based on the opening game of the season. Come the end of the season Liverpool will be there or there abouts. =#FFFFFF(FOR FOURTH PLACE)

I dunno. Can't say it was a mistake because he scored and earned us a penalty early on. However, with hindsight, you would have loved seeing him coming on against a tired Sunderland side, as we lost our way when Suarez started to tire.
Based on today's game, we're still a couple of signings short of making a proper go at it. We need a centre half and we could do with a better impact player than Dirk Kuyt.

| I can't believe people actually take the Scouse serious as potential title contenders. The delusion is almost scary. You would think they had missed out on the league by a few points here and there but they didnt even qualify for Europe FFS. The additions to the squad by "King" Kenny would hardly inspire confidence in most right minded people, Suarez aside, but still you hear many people claiming it may be their year this time. it is staggering, almost like cult. It makes you wonder who will take the brunt of the blame when it inevitably goes breasts up cos there is no Gillett and Hicks and no Roy Hodgson to blame.
Still whatever happens there will always be next year.

| Quote ="Roddy B"That was a true game of two halves. The first half we were rampant, we ran them off the park and created enough chances to win it there and then. Yes, Richardson should have been off, but a decision in the 5th minute shouldn't have stopped us from winning.
The second half, well, I'm bemused. Our midfield suddenly became invisible, our first touch was appalling and our plan was to lump it up to Carroll, give him little support and look lost. If we play like the first half all season, we'll make the top 4. If our plan B is what we done in the second half, we won't improve at all. If I were Dalglish, I'd consider bringing Carroll off when we're chasing games, as he becomes such a point of focus for hoof merchants that we lose all direction and threat. We become predictable and hopeless.
We've much to improve on and much to be happy about. We needed the win to get momentum going today, but we just fell short.'"
Good summary Rob. That's mainly how I saw it.
There were lots of posistives to take out of todays result though. I thought Enrique had a good game, did everything what was asked of him, passed some great balls and linked up well with Downing. Downing had a decent game and gave some good crosses into the penalty area, he almost scored an early contender for goal of the season with a superb run followed by a thunderous shot which hit the bar. Henderson was quiet on the right. We deifnitley need to remove him from outwide, he looks lost, either play him in the centre of the park or not at all. I'd rather see Maxi on that right hand side at least he gives us something out there. Don't get me wrong, I like Hendo and thinks he's got lots of potential but you're wasting him by putting him on the right.

| Not looking good for Blackburn this season, outplayed at home by Wolves is not the way to start a season, thank god we've got QPR in the prem this year that will keep us off the bottom of the league. It won't stop us getting relegated though. At least the chicken people will get rid of us if we do go down as they only bought us as a marketing tool for the Venky company.

You're lucky as you've got Swansea, Norwich, QPR and Latics in the same division. I'd cut the PL to sixteen teams in a heartbeat.

The only thing that will save Rovers is getting rid of Kean and bringing an experienced manager in but as Kean is just a yes man for the owners I can't see that happening.

| Watching Match of the Day now. Someone has to get Joey Barton out of the game as he's clearly got some mental health issues going on.
How the referee pulls that decision out of the bag is beyond me. Firstly under modern rules it's a clear penalty, he leaves his foot in and he falls over it. Secondly how Barton isn't sent off for causing the incident by pulling him up is beyond me. Gervinho was stupid and although it was handbags he deserved his red. But Barton HAS to be sent off for pulling Gervinho up, grabbing him by the throat and causing the whole mess. If the ref gives the right call for the penalty, it doesn't happen.
Song should also have gone. The standard of officiating in football is no better than SL on that evidence, they missed more than they saw.

| They say Leopards never change their spots and this phrase certainly fits for Luis Suarez.
Firstly, he charges down Richardson's attempted clearance with both elbows then has the audacity to somehow fall over a none existent tripwire after a minor nudge to his right shoulder. Tom Daley would be proud of that one Luis.
In the lead up to the Liverpool goal, he quite clearly doesn't attempt to contest the ball which leads to a free kick, from which he subsequently scores.
In the second half, he makes a cross that strikes Wes Brown, who is evidently trying to keep his arms close to his body and despite hitting the ball straight at Wes, bemoans the fact that he hasn't won a penalty.
If he had Barton on the back of his shirt, he'd be heading to the gallows first thing tomorrow.

I don't think I've ever read so much drivel in one post. Firstly, I suggest you watch the replay of the build up to the penalty again. Suarez does raise his elbows but the ball quite cleary hits his forehead.
Secondly, he was quite cleary touched by Richardson on his foot. There was contact so Luis went down as will any other good striker, I can't believe you're suggesting there was no contact with his legs.
I hope for your sake you're not a United fan, critisizing somebody for appealing for a penalty when you have the likes of Giggs, Rooney and Ferdinand in your team, none stop moaners. Of course he's going to appeal if the ball hits the arm. Yes it wasn't a penalty but of course you have to appeal especially when your team is in need of a goal.
