He was distinctly 2nd best in the parts of the fight I saw. He just pulled a shot out of nowhere to send Sprott into next week

| Harrison.
The guy's not a boxer. He might have the physical attributes, and maybe even ability, but he's scared of being hit.
That said, brilliant knock out punch. Stupid from Sprott though. He shouldn't have gone looking for it in the last round, and he certainly shouldn't have been leaning on the ropes for the 10 seconds prior to the KO; he should have got out of there and eased his way to a points victory.
Given his injury, Harrison did show alot more heart than he has in the past, as he says because his career was on the line, but regardless of one good punch, Harrison needs to retire.

| Some ridiculous comments on here, I'm afraid.....Whatever history Harrison has, and I wholeheartedly agree that he has been THE most frustrating boxer of his generation, last night's victory was a brave one.
There was absolutely no question that Harrison had a bad injury to his right arm from very early on in that fight. No boxer chooses to fight one handed!!....What was most ridiculous was that the so called expert, Jim Watt, was still talking about it being some sort of ploy right upto the end. Thankfully, Nicky Piper had the brains to realise the truth.
To be honest, I thought that Harrison should have retired with his injury at around the midway point, as it was looking like he had little to give, and if he had got through the 12 rounds with his injury and then started giving the reason for his performance, most detractors, given Harrison's history, would have tore him apart and refused to acknowledge the truth.
Certainly, Harrison got lucky, but he surely deserved it, based on the fact that it took some balls to put himself through what must have been a painful night, both physically and mentally, as he must have realised that his career was slipping slowly away....I only hope that last night can be some sort of turning point for him, not just in his own career, but in the eyes of fight fans who have rightly questioned his heart and desire.

I'm not questioning Harrison's heart; no denying it was a guttsy performance given his injury.
But he's scared of mixing it, and as such, should be no where near a world title fight.

I agree he is a million miles away from World Title level, but some of the comments on here were silly.
Comments like 'he was second best throughout the fight' are ridiculous...Try throwing combinations 1 handed in the comfort of your own home, never mind when a 17 stone bloke is throwing leather at you, its impossible.
Last night took a lot of bottle for Harrison....Basically, the whole thing was a no-win situation for him to start off with, but then to pick up what was obviously a bad injury early on, must have been a massive psychological blow for him. To actually hold it together and dredge that punch up from somewhere took some doing. He deserves a little respect after that.

| The problem I have with Harrison is to me he doesn't punch properly, and he's petrified of being tagged. In the Olympics, he looked very good, he had good power (he still does), and was a good technitian but since becoming a pro he just seems to try and do the bare minimum to win and he doesn't throw with any conviction, and his workrate isn't good enough, I don't know where Sky got the 370+ punches he threw from. Fare play to him for KOing Sprott, it took some bottle to carry on.
Anyone see the Berto-Quintana fight? Berto has all the physical attributes, but his defence inparticular is very poor. Mosley would've battered him IMO, but if he can tighten up technically he'll go far. Although he needs to sort out his ring entrance. Souja boy has no business in boxing.

| Heaven help Harrison if he ever faced Haye, first round knockout or stoppage would be my bet.
Congrats to Holyfield too on winning the WBF title at the weekend.

If you're crediting Holyfield with winning that particular belt then you have to call Audley Harrison a world champion too. He won the very same WBF title in 2004.

Jamie Moore retires from boxing after medical advice: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8616589.stm
A real shame because he looked on the verge of a world title fight before defeat to Ryan Rhodes. However, he didn't look right in that fight, and in his last fight a couple of weeks back he looked shot.
Herbie Hide is also the latest name to enter Prizefighter. Although he has long fallen from the public gaze, the WBC rate him as their no.3 cruiserweight. This guy could be a real class above the rest.

| Big shame about Moore but glad to see him take the sensible option. Certainly didn't look the same fighter as he was when he boxed the other week.

Quite a record I agree, not sure who he fought that was any good. Besides, he wasn't licensed to fight in the USA (apart from Texas maybe?) due to 'irregular' brain scans after a motorbike accident.
Was a lot of stuff going on with him, he had been done for assaulting his wife recently.
He leaves 2 children behind.

Froch or Kessler tonight then? And how? I'd like to see a mid-late KO for Froch.

Can't wait for the Froch fight now, I can see Carl stopping him in about 7.

Thought Froch was marginally the better man but it was a close fight. Judges scores were dodgy though, especially the guy who gave it to Kessler by 6 rounds, who incidentally, was the same bloke that refereed Sven Ottke vs. Robin Reid.
