Two years ago I backed Forpadytheplasterer in the Arkle as part of my Lucky15, but last year made Captain Cee Bee my first day banker. And today, Captain Chris at the same price as Forpady (8s), was in my Lucky15 as well.

Note to self, look for something at a decent price next year and then make it the days banker bet.

No bet on this race but Great Endeavour should go well if his trainer hopes him to be a future Gold Cup horse.

I tipped up Bensalem to win and Reve De Sivola EW this morning, to family members...

...and it is the first race of the day i didnt have a bet on.

Cracking run from Hurricane Fly i had it at 8s

First winner of the festival for me. Had Bygones of Brid E/W at 200s, was getting a tad excited half way through

F*CKING GET IN HURRICANE!!!

Thousand Stars putting in a decent effort finishing 4th for Mullins as well.

Top trainer could get very interesting with Nicholls also having one winner already and Henderson 4 placed efforts so far.

20p/ 3 quid overall lucky15.

Fair play to Walsh for putting two rides together in such close quarters. Why couldn't Johnson do that, git.

Don't think whatever Johnson done would've seen his horse win, Hurricane Fly was on the bridle for nearly all of the race, when Walsh gave him a bit of leeway the race was over. Its a shame Peddlers will seemingly be going over fences, he ran a terrific race.

He was beaten by a very special horse.

Between 5/2 and 5/1 to repeat his win next year so total respect for him from those bookies.

I've got Garde Champetre and Quevega still to go on the placepot, surely it'll be a case of just being let down by Great Endevour, who would've surely been placed had he stayed upright. Bugger. Could've been an even better day.



TBH I thought it was an omen he was getting to the festival in racing condition after missing the last two years due to setbacks. Just I don't do antepost, I'd rather wait til the day and have a good read of the papers and internet.

I got 11/2 last Wednesday, and 5/1 Friday, both before Binocular was withdrawn.

It's Cheltenham....would be no great shock if a kid like Sam Twiston Davies ruined Ruby's treble by getting Quevega beat.


Agree especially at those sort of ante post prices, taking a chance at 33/1 is one thing but taking similar odds to this year on him being fit and firing this time next year is a very risky business.

And if Quevega is unplaced, I'll forgive Great Endeavour!

Bet it woulda been a nice dividend too, with Cue Card and Medermit unplaced favourites, not to mention Sunnyhillboy and the fancied Menorah.
