Probably one of the worst individual performances I have ever seen last night - SWP was awful last night. Very poor.'"
I remember after your first game (was it Spurs?) people were saying Silva will be too lightweight and the rest of the stereotypes, but it was clear as day you weren't playing to his strengths. He's very aware tactically, he can play both on the counter-attack or the possession game, he can't play long balls or classic flying wingplay, but he's probably at his best in the middle playing the counter-attacking game, if there is space for him to move into or carry the ball into, he will generally exploit it, whilst any form of space behind defenders will be exploited with his vision. I feel he's one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, if he scored more, I'd put him on a par with the likes of Iniesta and Kaka, but, for now, I feel he's still developing the complete game. Probably Citeh's best signing this summer, him or Balotelli anyway, IMO.

Quote ="Ordsall Quays Red"Death threats?! I think someone is taking the words of sensationalist journalists a little too seriously.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ma ... r-11604098
Protesters gathered outside Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's Cheshire home, following an announcement he wants to leave the club.
Police were called to the footballer's £4.5m mansion in Prestbury at 2030 BST on Wednesday, after reports up to 30 people were outside.
The group dispersed and no offences were committed, a spokesman said.'"
I loved the newspapers this morning. Such idiots.
I only hope that Rooney doesn't play for United again. He's made his position clear, and that's fine. What I'd ask Wayne Rooney is what usually happens to "marquee" signings at United? They either flop or take a while to bed in. He is in the minority of a top billed player who came in a delivered immdiatley. The other one I can think of is Rio. Other than that they usually struggle. Veron and Berbatov are two that spring to mind straight away. What United usually do is make superstars rather than buy the finished article. I admit that United pay over the odds for the raw talent but that's what works for us. Look at RVN, Ronaldo, Evra and Vidic. None were household names before they came over but developed in to (arguably) world class talents.

I'd agree with that, and what City need to do now is build the team around him. They don't need 11 world beater. They need to surround the world clas talent the have (Silva and Tevez IMHO) with good players. When you look at players just under that "elite" level, City have plenty. Johnson, Yaya, De Jong, Kompany, Balotelli etc. They'll have to pay more than other clubs to get that level of player, but does that matter? Does it f**k.

In the end, it all calmed down but I wouldn't have fancied the walk back to town with them later.
Before the game, it's certainly the biggest police operation I have ever seen and every bouncer in town must have been on overtime. That said, I didn't see any bother but there were a few tales of the odd bit of fisticuffs here and there.
In the end there were probably about 2,500 from Poznan itself, who had the traditional away end, then the East Stand third tier was given to the Polish community in Britain. There were a good 4,000 of them who basically gave the feel that they were just on a nice family day out and were right at the opposite end of the scale to the true Poznan support. Then, judging by the reactions when they scored, there was probably a good 1,000 more littered around the ground, especially in the Family Stand.
All in all, I reckon they brought about 7,500, which is pretty darned impressive and the atmosphere from them is one that will live in the memory. If only English games could get the atmopshere you get in parts of Europe.'"
I was sat up in the Colin Bell and agree with what you say. I did notice a huge hole at one point in the away end as their nutters forced their way to the sides.

| What would be funny (as a Nited fan) would be for "Blooney" to make a huge apology to Ferguson/Nited/the fans/the rest of the squad etc, say he would love to stay and sign a new long-term contract on the pitch ahead of the Spuds game next weekend. Then get himself fit just in time for the Derby and score a late, late winner before revealing some kind of "humerous" and/or insulting slogan on his t-shirt towards City/Citeh/lickle Siddy* (*delete as appropriate) and see the kind of reaction he would get.
[size=85PS I doubt massively that most, if not all, of the above will happen but it would be most entertaining. I also don't like it when any player displays any kind of slogan/message etc on their shirt when they score, that was meant purely tongue in cheek.[/size

From my fairly safe seat I thought they were extremely entertaining apart from the 5 mins after City's second goal when there seemed to be an instantaneous reaction of " Game over, lets have a fight". All very 1970/80's.
They were certainly the noisiest supporters I've heard. The routine they did when they en masse simulated a mass brawl was particularly impressive. Beautifully choreographed, they would do well on Strictly Come Dancing".

Napoli are rumoured to be bring 7,000 over for the home game, don't know if thats true or involves UK based fans.
Interesting article here on how police go too far.

Infer that City are hovering with lots of cash, and bag yourself a 220k per week contract.
Clever work by Stretford.

Clever work by Stretford? How do you work that out. Rooney has a lot of bridges to build with the fans of United (the true fans, not the ones who will forget all about it now he's put pen to paper). This could be his United career ruined. He would've been paid the same regardless of this carry on.
I personally think this is to make the last 7 months at the club bearable before he leaves in the summer. He forced his own hand!
