| Quote ="John_D"Margarito walked through the bombs early and Cintron froze, not knowing what else to do.'"
Reminded me a bit of Cotto vs. Mosley in that regard. Cintron, although more confident than in his first meeting with Margarito, couldn't hack the pressure and amount of punches the Mexican throws...again. He doesn't seem to like the trench battles. Still reckon there's a decent future for him though.
Quote ="John_D"Woods - disappointing. I thought he could get at Tarver, but Tarver fought a good fight, keeping Woods on the outer.'"
I wonder whether Woods was either purely outclassed or froze on the night. The latter is a concern for Calzaghe next week. Can he perform at this best, outside of his back yard?

| Quote ="Derek Acorah"how the bookmakers made Dolan the favourite against Rogan i'll never know,he looked like the winner early on.'"
Amateur reputation - Dolan was probably the most skilled fighter of the bunch, but 3x3 in the pro ranks isn't about being cute and working behind the jab waiting for your chance.
Over 8 or 10 rounds I'd back Dolan to beat anybody in that competition, including Rogan.

| That Prize fighter thing was entertaining, although I’m not sure of the idea of it being Boxings answer to 20-20 cricket.
The fights were fights and there was little boxing involved within them. looking a little brutal at times. Some of the punches they were walking onto even I could feel right down to my toes.
Were the fighters paid to keep their hands down? I don’t think I saw anyone show any defence at all!

To be fair, I'm not sure how many (if any) were ranked in the top 10 heavyweights in Britain prior to the event. They were mainly undercard fighters who like a tear-up but lack a great deal in skills, ideal fodder for that kind of event.
You were never going to get people with a career to develop and reputation to protect putting it on the line in that kind of "bear baiting" environment, which is why it surprised me that Dolan got involved.

Saw the trails for it and decided to give a body swerve as soon as Scott Gammer came on the screen. If it's that level, I'm not interested.

Before the event, Barry Hearn was hinting that the premise ran along the lines of The Contender meets UFC. It could only work as a money spinner in Britain, purely because we love an underdog.

| So whats the script going to be for the big fight on Saturday? Alot of people I talk to think that Joe doesn't have the hands to knock out Hopkins, and that he's going to need to be about 5 rounds up on the card to win on points.

If it goes the distance he is going to need to win seven rounds at least .
If Calzaghe is smart about it he will pick Hopkins off no problems, if Hopkins makes Calzaghe brawl for it then there could be some trouble for Calzaghe.
I can’t see this fight being interesting, let alone a classic.

Starts on Setanta at 10.30pm but the fight will be more like 2am or so.

| Think Joe is technically the better boxer but it will take some punch off him to knock out Hopkins, and he deserves alot of credit to be fair, the guy is what 43? that must take some effort to box top class fighters at that age but I am still definetly rooting for Calzaghe. Go on Joe!

I imagine it will be around 4am Sunday morning unfortunatly.
Has anyone seen the undercard for this fight yet? It is quite possibly one of the worst, ever.

| Just seen the weigh in and thought Joe handled it very well. Hopkins tried to poke fun at him, but Calzaghe just laughed at him, took the applause from the crowd and walked off. Hopkins didn't look too happy.

| Great performance from Ryan Rhodes tonight, just a matter of time before he cleaned out Woolcome.Fantastic body shots softened him up but what a punch to finish it,just hope Woolcome is okay now though.

| I don't think Calzaghe will get the praise he deserves either way.
If he beats Hopkins people will say 'He's beat an old man. A has-been.'
And if he loses people will say 'We told you so. He's been a protected fighter.'

Agreed. He's arguably been one the UK's greatest ever boxers and he's definitely up there as best P4P in the World today. His work rate is superb, he throws lots of punches, he's super fit, he's fast, he's intelligent and throws punches from lots of different angles.
He'll still be undefeated this time tomorrow, I've no doubts about it.
