| I'm actually looking forward to the Amir Khan fight tomorrow. Including his last fight, he's finally fought a couple of decent fighters. This'll be tough for him.

| End of Round 5 and Thaxton is all done, massive cuts and he's been pulled out. Not in Romanov's class.

He looked outclassed after 30 seconds imo, brave as they come but he didnt look as conditioned as normal for some reason.Romanov looks like a valid world title challenger to me.Deceptivley powerfull right hand and wastes few punches.Lee Purdy looks like one to follow, early days though.

Gilder's theory - which I thought was true anyway - proved correct.

I don't think Matthews could have fought that fight more wrong if he'd tried. He's not a big puncher, he's weak at the weight yet he wanted to stand and trade with a little nugget of a fella who can bang as hard as anyone else in the division.
Very impressed with Khan on Saturday. Got caught a couple of times with the overhand right again but other than that looked very comfortable and was deadly when the chance came to force a finish. Warren wants to give him another fight before a world title challenge, and it'll be interesting to see whether he puts him in with another live one who could throw a spanner in the works, or feeds him a stiff to practice on.
Thaxton's done now IMO, stick a fork in him. There's nowhere for him to go, the battering against Romanov gives Khan an excuse not to touch him with a bargepole and unless he wants to plod along at domestic level earning peanuts he may as well hang up his gloves. He's brave, he's got fairly heavy hands but ultimately he's not got the skill set to challenge the best in Europe, never mind the world.

| Khan's needs to dump his trainers and go for world class corner men.
His defence is there to be had. He's getting tagged way too often on the counter. If his chin is rubber, as suggested, he needs to be tight shut. All the time. Go for Mayweather Snr., or even Manny Stewart.
And HTF did Khan manage to get to number 3 on the WBO list (above Cassamayor and Romanov)? And Kristjansen at 4?! Oh, I forgot. Warren's got their nads in a vice.
Khan needs to slow down. Fight some high-quality pros. Get extra experience. THEN go for a belt. Right now I'm not sure he could beat Cherry, Raheem or even Chad Brisson let alone the Cassamayors of this world.
Besides, he's almost outgrown this weight. Won't be long before he's up to SLW or Welter. The kid is HUGE.
A lot of talent, for sure. Power. Speed. Accuracy. I love those wicked slashing uppercuts. They'll open up a few cuts in the future.
As for Thaxton. He looked like he was punch-drunk. Miles off the pace. Definitely one of the most one-sides fights I've seen in years. Romanov was practically hitting him at will.

I'd back him against Campbell or even the elder Diaz, and once you have a belt you're in a position to dictate terms over who and where you fight.
If he takes that step up and loses, what's the damage? He's young enough to go away and rebuild again. He wants to be able to call himself a world champion, and I reckon they may as well take a shot at it this year and see how he goes.

Why say that? There are similaries in their fighting style and Kahn is certainly very confident in his ability as all boxers are. However I think he's always come across as being pretty down to earth and as though he is eager to learn when I have heard him in interviews and such.

Provided he could get near enough, then the natural light welter would probably beat the smaller man, yes. He'd have to catch him first though, and we all saw the problems Ricky has with fighters who don't move in straight lines against PBF.

Tarver was a class above, he did a really good job on Clinton.
I only gave Woods two rounds!
Over to Joe Calzaghe now

| Watched the Cotto fight this morning,as big a mismatch as you'll see,the Kermit v Margareta fight was much better,Kermit is a lot better than he showed last night imo but Margareta got some cracking body punches in.I was a bit wary of the prize fighter on friday night but it turned out to be great viewing, how the bookmakers made Dolan the favourite against Rogan i'll never know,he looked like the winner early on.

Just seen bits myself and it could've been stopped earlier. Cotto dominated and is getting better and better with every fight. His defence is a little worrying at times, but I reckon he's Floyd Mayweather's best fight at the moment. Hopefully it'll be made within the next couple of years.

| Cotto - different gravy. Gomez was outclassed from the first bell and it was just a case of when Cotto wanted to finish it. He seemed more concerned about potentially seriously hurting Gomez and it was a relief when the doctor stepped in.
Surprised by Cintron's defeat. We all know how wily Margarito is, but I fancied Cintron to blast him out of there. Margarito walked through the bombs early and Cintron froze, not knowing what else to do. From then on it was a question of time.
Woods - disappointing. I thought he could get at Tarver, but Tarver fought a good fight, keeping Woods on the outer. A bit like Hatton against Mayweather, Woods took too many trying to get on the inside. Did a bit of damage once there, but had to soak up a lot in between times.
It's been a good career for Woods. A real trier, he's made the most of what he's got, but I reckon that's it now.
