| Quote ="Robbie Rotten"'Having a pop'? You see, you intentionally 'minimize' Rooney's offence to having a pop. It was a full-scaled verbal assault. Babel was guilty of foolishness or re-tweeting a picture suggested many things, one of those being cheating, but I think it was simple 'banter', that's not LFC bias, it was stupid for a professional to involve himself in such childish banter, but I believe that's all it was. Whereas with Rooney, I feel it exceeded the proverbial line, there's challenging a ref, there's getting your point across, then there's that. Foul, abusive and needlessly aggressive, but nothing has been said of it, that's what I don't get. I'm not saying clamp down on everything (although we should eventually follow RL), but there are some cases, like Ashley Cole's a few years back, like Mascherano's and like Rooney's on the weekend, that are simply 'too far', to the point where the FA have to step in and act on the player's behaviour.
Getting into a widge measuring contest about what was worse bores me, but the fact one has been acted on, whilst the other has been completely ignored, speaks volumes about the FA and how farcical their dictatorship of English football is.'"
Carragher, Torres, Reina, Terry, and co do it most weeks.Funny how you've never mentioned anything before. It isn't a widge measuring contest. One was worthy of action, one wasn't. The FA tend to agree. It's that simple. The fact that not many of the media have picked up on it suggests it ain't that big a deal also. Unless you're a bitter, jealous LFC fan riddled with ABU syndrome of course. Let's agree to disagree and move on.

| The fact that a -poor player like him has made enough money out of the game to be able to forget about a Porsche he owns just about says it all about the way football has gone.

hearing on Talksport from Martin Allen (QPR,WHU,Pompey etc) who was at the Spurs training ground last week reported that a black Smart Car pulled up at the car park amid the Porsches,BMWs,Jags,Mercs etc who appeared from it,none other than Benoit Assou Ekotto ! Thinking the car was just for fun the presenters
ie Allen & Danter etc took the p**s something rotten saying that it must have been a courtesy car cos' the Porsche was in for repair etc anyway, the player phoned in to say it was his actual car,the one he used daily as it was easy & practical to drive around busy London etc
Sensible young man or a tight git ?

sensible.
I did some business with a company who used to supply a lot of cars to players back in the late 90s, if they had something new and fancy, they literally just had to drive to a training ground, and the players would come scampering over like kids to the ice cream van, trying to get their first and buy it. I heard conversations where player x would be saying, 'no tell player y to f£ck off, I want it', the players must lose stupid amounts on the depreciation, and the fact they certainly used to get them pimped up like dogs dinners making them virtually unsellable, when the X5 first came out JFH had one that was the frankenstein of the car world, freakish with all sorts of nonsense on it, not to anyone elses in the worlds taste.
to do something sensible is commendable, and he probably gets hammered by his team mates.

couldn't agree more - bet he doesn't give a monkeys about the comments - I recall when Norwich City first went into the big time ie the old 1st Division in the early 70s one of their stalwarts Dave Stringer, who went on to manage the club who lived just around the corner from us in the village stuck with his Hillman Imp whilst all his team mates who were then earning a decent wedge went for the Ford Granadas,Jags etc He had /still has a swish house but the memory of the rusty old Imp in the driveway will never leave me.

| Everton are either leaving it very late or in a worse financial mess than I thought. To go into a transfer window stating you need to strengthen and then sell 3 players who could be considered first teamers and not signing anyone is a tad silly.

| Saw an interview with him about a year ago where he said he had very little time for the circus that follows modern day football. Seemed like he had his feet firmly on the ground and his head screwed on with comments like football isn't a real job and players get paid far too much.

According to Sid Lowe on Twitter (Guardian football journalist who lives & works in Spain)
"Pennant, the truth: he left car for 3 wks, then from UK phoned a co. that collected it for him and left at garage at his Zarag house."
He then posted this link [urlhttp://www.aragon2.com/n-1403-407-verdad_coche_Pennant[/url (article in Spanish)
But when faced with truth or legend - always print the legend

| Does anyone speak Portugese:
From the Sporting Lisbon website:
"Eric Dier, defesa central dos juniores do Sporting, foi cedido por empréstimo, até ao dia 30 de Junho de 2011, ao Everton. Esta é uma oportunidade para o atleta crescer numa conjuntura competitiva mais exigente.
O jogador tem contrato com o Sporting até 2013."

You need to calm down a little....
Yes, we haven't signed anybody yet, but in reality we have actually lost 1 player, Pienaar, and that made financial sense.
Yakubu, rightly or wrongly, wasn't in Moyes' plans and as for Vaughan, he hasn't been in the manager's plans since about 3 years ago....Moyes has been trying to offload him for ages, but the lad kept getting injuries, so he was burdened with him.
I don't quite get this supposed need for a big squad....When we almost did the treble in '85, we used about 15 or 16 players all season.
All big squads do is produce unsettled players. Small squads produce unity.....I've never understood why clubs waste millions in wages on guys who spend most of the year warming a bench?...

Well you keep thinking that whilst your club scrap for mid-table and probably won't win a single thing, whilst those with big squads will forever try and compete on all fronts. I am highly disturbed if you can't fathom why clubs have deep squads.

Oh, I listen to all the guff that the managers come out with when their sides are struggling....Tired squads and all that...
Just makes me laugh, that when Liverpool were dominating European football in the 70's and 80's and playing upto 70 games a year, you could practically name their first team, week in, week out....In fact, I still can now.
Same goes for other successful sides of that era, like Villa, Forest, Ipswich, Everton, etc.....All this 25 man squad thing is a complete cover-up for under performing managers....
