Why? other than it been abit cold and a little icy i should think the pitch will have been kept in superb condition as always.

I would have thought the answer to that question would be fairly obvious given that the game got called off about an hour before your post.

| How on earth did we manage to win today? Omar Daley was absolute crap and other than his pace he offered nothing today and i lost count of how many times he lost the ball,Thorne and Ndungu looked a threat upfront but as ever they were playing too far away from each other.
The thing that annoyed me about todays performance is that very few of our players actually jumped to try win a header,i think i only saw Wetherall try to win a header but noone else, sort it out quickly McCall.
Stuart made a bold sub with about 10 minutes left when he brought Conlan on for Thorne but thankfully it worked out as Conlon got the winning goal, round of applause must go to McCall for that one.
Overall it was a poor performance and if we had been playing a side with even a little bit of class today we would have lost and perhaps should have lost today to be honest.

| City can't afford to try 'win pretty' every week. They can play like that every week as long as there's 3 points at the end of it.

I agree, however some of our play today was very poor indeed especially where half our players refuse to challenge for headers.

Judging by todays [url=http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportbcfc/sportbcfcmatch/display.var.1933086.0.citys_playoff_hopes_vanish.phpT&A article[/url SM now seems to have realised that we need to have a more physical approach in this division, we'll just have to wait until next season before it can happen.

| City sign Lee Bullock on loan, the midfielder we desperately need. No idea if he's any good mind. But as long as he's more than 5ft 5 and has a bit of balls then he can't be any worse than what we already have.

| Well after today we are halfway through the season, we [ishould[/i be safe from a relegation scrap while there's too much to do for us to make the play-offs, though hopefully we'll go on a decent run between now and the end of the season to give us a little hope ahead of next term.
I was expecting an upper mid table finish and we should still be on course for that, I was hopeful that we might have had a crack at the play-offs but that run of 5 defeats in a row in September/October put paid to that, I do think we are improving though as SM learns about management (and the division) and we're not on that bad a run of recent form - we only seem to be getting beat by the top teams at the moment.
It was always going to take more than just SM's return and big crowds to arrest 7 years of decline and the effect of 2 admin's and I think the biggest mistake the club made over the summer was talking themselves up (ie SM saying he'd consider it a failure if we didn't go up) but I guess they had to do that to get bums on seats, hopefully everyone can learn from what's gone on so far this year and we'll be in a position to challenge next term.

It would have been 1 more if it wasn't for dodgy misinformation from our ticket office (not that I'm surprised).
I called yesterday but was informed all tickets had been sold, and there would be no pay on the day - a friend didn't know this and just turned up today and got in no problems.
Seems there were a few of our fans in the home ends too, Accrington staff were apparently telling people with kids that if they went into the main (home) stand their kids would get in free - but they'd have to pay to stand on the designated away terrace, which was nice of them!

Makes a nice change, especially as you'd have thought Accrington would be looking to make as much money as possible out of the day. Bit like an FA Cup tie for them in terms of away support.

| Decent enough return over the festive season (first half against Hereford apart). Bit of a shame we haven't been able to sort out a fixture for the weekend to keep some of the momentum going.
Anyone who went yesterday care to comment on Colbeck - has the time out on loan done him some good or is he still all effort and no product?

Seems to have done him the world of good! I thought he was our MOM to be honest. Scared them to death when he ran at them and helped out a lot more when they had possession especially after they made a triple substitution and it looked like the fresh legs might tell. Some of the City fans have more faces than the Town Hall clock though. They were singing 'There's only one Joe Colbeck' at the end. Plenty of these will be the same idiots who were spitting bile at him at the Chesterfield game at the end of last season.

| I'd love to see him do well. He's got pace to burn and he's not short of a trick or too either. But that final ball is unbelievably frustrating. The second half v Hereford was a fine example. But as Stuart has said himself, he frustrates himself more than anything, so at least he's working on it. Good luck to him, always good to see a youth player go well.

| Hope Rotherham can reel them in, and Franchise FC have a total wobble and somehow miss out on promotion altogether, not going to happen though!!
Those who had silly thoughts about us going on a storming run and making the play-offs surely must see sense after us only drawing with Wrexham today!
I can't for the life of me understand why Eddie Johnson was brought back into the midfield, he's totally anonymous every time I see him and Paul Evans, although not playing brilliantly, has assisted a few goals from set-pieces in recent weeks.

Don't follow city that much myself, but like to see them do well, and I go to the odd game now and again. What I don't understand Is why SM changed an unbeaten team around?, unless there was injuries? then I understand. Most of my mates support Bradford City, some of them at the start of the season where being very un-realistic saying they are going to get automatic. However the more realistic ones thought that a push for the play-offs would be the best they would get this year out of the team.
Not following city that much myself, but i really do think that they should be fighting for a play-off spot next year. And if they recruit well then they will get this, if luck is on there side now and again. The thing about city is that they need a good unbeaten run behind them, and they look a decent team.

Peter Thorne was injured, so there had to be a little re-jig, I don't understand leaving Evans out though - certainly not for Johnson.

I think SM has come to grips more with this division as the season went on, so we have to be looking at challenging near the top this season, I agree it was unrealistic to expect too much this season, given what has gone on over the last few years, it's been a while since we lost to anyone other than teams in the top 6 and I do think the signs are encouraging, keeping up the current unbeaten run, and looking strong towards the end of the season, are essential IMO if crowd levels, and enough income to allow a challenge, are to remain strong next season.
