| Quote ="Live Wired"don't you just love these hype-horses? Nice profit on the race, could have been more if I took Planteur on...But the horse has been on the go for months, he needs a rest, and yet o' Brien is thinking about the Eclipse. MADNESS. Regarding the winner, personally, I'd aim him straight at the Arc, he will take months to recover, and alongside St Nicholas Abbey, is lay material in KG back at Ascot.
Regarding Frankel, he's being aimed at the International at York. NO,NO,NO, he does not settle well enough, even more lay material...'"
You seem to like going after the well backed horses, its an interesting system but very risky against top class horses
Well played today though I wouldn't be backing So You Think at the odds thats why it went in a treble.
Going off your stakes yesterday though against Canford and Goldi an today there wouldn't be much difference between back or laying the selections

| Quote ="Live Wired"Plenty of trainers do just that, especially o'Brien, don't forget Coolmore are all about breeding, it would have been 1 hell of a stud fee for SYT if he had won. Regarding "hype", take Frankel; Since Mister Baileys in 93, 10 horses have clocked faster times than Frankel in the Guineas, in the St James's Palace Stakes, 7 have clocked faster times than Frankel since Grand Lodge in 94, most of which will be run on good, fast ground, and yet, Frankel has been hyped up as the next Pegasus.
Imo, this year's 3yos are a poor bunch, with Frankel the best of the lot.'"
You think Frankel is overhyped because of his times?
Have a look at how quick he covers 3-4f nothing can live with it.

| Cant get onto betfair atm to show my results, but laying the front 2 in the place market in fields between 5-7 runners, has proved profitable for me, away from Ascot yesterday, results at sp were;
2.15 thirsk- 2 unplaced at 11/8 at 3/1
6.00 brighton- 2 unplaced at 11/8 and 9/4
6.30 brighton- 1 placed at 9/4, 1 placed at 9/4
7.35 newton abbot- 1 placed at 1/1, 1 unplaced at 3/1.
All place prices were odds on.

Thats why I would like to see him over 6f, but I dont think his racetimes deserve the ratings and the plaudits he's received. Just my opinion, that I will be happy to bet by in future. Regarding his next target, The Sussex stakes would suit him better than the Jacques le Marois, I'd even bet him to beat Canford Cliffs.

It'll never happen, that's why Cecil laughed at Rishi yesterday when he suggested it. Why run Frankel over 6? imagine how devastating he'd be if he was dropped in and let loose 4 out, he'd thrash any opposition. Luckily Cecil doesn't have the same thoughts.
Quote ="worthing wire"As for today, Dettori gets a nine day ban for thrashing the living poop out of Rewilding in winning by a neck. Not sure that this makes the result acceptable, myself.'"
Course it does, Dettori deserved his ban for hitting Rewilding 24 times in 2 furlongs and the stewards have done a good job but you can't say the horse doesn't deserve the win, that's unfair, he's battled with everything he has for 3f to catch and beat SYT and fully deserves the victory. He didn't just win because Dettori was excessive with his whip.

| 24 times in 2 furlongs?! Jesus. The press had a field day when the National Hunt boys were "guility" of lesser "crimes", I wonder if this will be brushed under the carpet in comparison because this is "Royal" Ascot and our hero Frankie?

The press where up in arms because horses died in the Grand National, there is a planned investigation into the use of the whip for October. The press will take no interest in Dettori's ban, just like the Grand National uproar went quiet on by the following Monday.

There was a piece on the BBC national news about the use of the whip on Monday or Tuesday evening (can't remember). Idiots like Dettori do no favours to the racing purist who understands the use of the whip.

| Hughes spoke a lot of sense about whip use in the RP the other week. He briefly outlined the rules in India (where he rides over the winter) and it did make a lot of sense. His column has been excellent reading - he does talk a lot of sense.
I think it was something along these lines...Horse only allowed to be hit certain amount of times in a certain distance or something, a breach sees the jockey fined and if they break their three strikes then they are banned from using a whip for a certain length of time (can be around a month) which, in effect, will probably see them having to stand down for the duration.
A lot of people just like to bash racing though because of the whip without knowing anything about it. Hughes said in the same column that it is the noise of the whip that gets the horse to switch on, it doesn't hurt them to be hit with it and he said he would stand with his pants down at Newmarket and have his backside whipped for half an hour to prove it doesn't hurt. Presumably by Emma Spencer or Suzi Perry and not Clare Balding.
Make no mistake, Rewilding will probably need a decent break now - he ran his heart out today.

Thats all he is any good for, I cringe every time the berk opens his mouth.
Pompous, smarmy prat.
My selections could change for tomorrow nearer to the off. Banimpire has had a lot of running so far this year, like the look of Rumh too. Holberg will probably be ground dependant. Might have a big lay on Fame.

Exactly, no matter what Dettori did with the whip it was rewilding that gave everything to wear down and get infront of SYT. Apparently you're allowed to hit a horse 13 times within two furlongs in Britain, obviously Dettori was way that.

I understand the use of the whip.
Put yourself in Dettori's position, he can see this 'superstar' horse infront of him, he knows he has plenty left in Rewilding and he can win a G1 race at Royal Ascot, he's got over excited and rightly been punished but it's easy to criticise from an armchair.

Yeah
As much as I'd hate to back another of O'Brien's runners this week after todays debacle, surely Await The Dawn is a question of 'how far, not if', on Saturday.

| He talks to everyone as if they're stupid too, and even when he hasn't got a clue what he is on about patronisingly tries to correct people.
Willie Carson is equally annoying, wish he'd take a bloody chill pill.

It's worse when he's the one leading the questions to someone like O'Brien after SYT race too, he asks some awful questions and as you say he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.
At least Carson is knowledgeable about racing, he does talks some sense eventhough he does get very excited over nothing.

| Gold Cup
Fame & Glory 3/1
Fame & Glory is following same path as Age of Aquarius and the mighty Yeats if he stays he wins its that simple.
Kasbah Bliss 18/1 EW and 5/1 Place
Stays all day and show at Meydan that at 9 he's still got plenty of speed when 4th in a Group 2 to Monterosso who then came 3rd in the Dubai World Cup, Doumen thinks having a good break is the key to him running well and he's been off since April the puzzle is what ground does he need as Doumen always moans about it not being his ground, he wants it good or fast according to him but said it was too sticky when beat on good ground last year yet when winning in April on good to soft he said it was perfect so who knows.

| Think Rumh has a lot more improvement to come, got 4 quid on her at 4s.
Banimpire looks the one to beat though, took Rumh as I thought she was better value and looks to have more to come too. Banimpire seems to have a preference for faster ground, but doesn't seem too soft for her.
Just put 20 on Fame & Glory. Agree with Wire, if he stays he wins. If Sea The Stars hadn't been around he would've probably been retired at the end of his 3 yo campaign as a Derby and multiple other group one race winner.
Holberg was the one I fancied but he loves fast ground. Fame will be at home on this ground and will be hard to beat if he stays. Duncan isn't a guaranteed stayer either so on that basis Fame is the bet for me.
Spencer has rode him a few times now and should hopefully get things spot on.

| Why is Spencer in the purple and white aboard F&G? He's ran in the pink & green colours of Fitri Hay both times this year.
Go on Jamie!
Shame I only got 6/4, the 7/4 I seen in the bookies before shortened in the blink of an eye.

| Marksmanship should be at home on this ground whereas a few may not, thats probably why its been backed from 11/2 to 100/30
Ran very greenly and got knocked about a bit in traffic, bit of a shock result Pisco Sour.
Probably stick a lucky 15 on tomorrow then go for Await The Dawn on Saturday.
