| Money is the only reason for the CL group stages. The TV companies aren't going to risk tens of millions of Euros if their clubs are only going to play two games. The guaranteed group games means TV companies are prepared to back the CL to the extent they do.

Westerveld
Cavalieri really isn't that bad, he's obviously not a world beater but he's a decent enough back up. Much like Kusczak.

Was that when they had the French/African guy? Trying to remember his name but keep thinking Lama and I know it wasn't him (that was West Ham).

Well I can't wait for Robbie to trawl through Google all afternoon so it was Pegguy Arphexad (points for you there) and Jorgen Nielsen.

I remember Arphexad but for some reason the other name escapes me. When you say it, I'll probably slap myself silly for forgetting it.

Well done Robbie
Now that Pegguy was craap. The other lad wasn't so bad, but never seemed to get a chance. You'll know better than me (probably ) but wasn't Nielsen at Anfield for a good few years?

I don't remember Nielsen at all. I was only young then so I never watched and remembered things as much. Only reason I remember Taibi is because of that clanger vs Le Tissier.

Wenger shocked by Hughes's stance over the Adebayor stamp. "You ask 100 people, 99 will say it's very bad and the hundredth will be Mark Hughes." Disgusting behaviour isn't it Arsene? I'm just glad you've never done anything like that in your career.

| Only reason i remember Jorgen Nielsen is because of E.A's football manager game from back then. He was in his 30s wasn't he?
Sander was a quality keeper, wish we kept him, but his replacement was just as good.
I think Liverpool have always had good 1st choice keepers, but lacked in the back up department as have a few other top teams. Man Utd are an exception now with Ben Foster not being bothered about being 2nd choice to Edwin, other good up and coming keepers like Chris Kirkland, Scott Carson have been.

I'm just surprised Wenger saw anything. He's the master at looking the other way, so it's a shock that he actually saw the incident.

Its cos it happened to an Arsenal player. If it was his player doing the same he would've been looking t'other way.

| I don't know what is more ridiculous, Wenger saying he doesn't see incidents, or people whining on about it all the time when it is quite obvious why he says it - he even spelt it out in an interview with The Times a few weeks ago.

But he still comes out and slags off another manager for doing the same thing. And he'll receive next to no response from the journos about his hypocrisy.

I agree. So why on earth is Wenger 'attacking' another manager over doing what he does?
That would be like Rafa slating Fergie for moaning about fixtures

He's not though is he? From the linked story it appears Hughes is appealing for Adebayor to be "cut a bit of slack" for stamping on someone, laughably I read somewhere earlier when he stated that Adebayor had "been through a lot".

Well what if Tony Mowbray came out after the CL tie and said "99/100 people would say he dove, the other person would be Arsene Wenger saying he didn't". Wenger is moaning at Hughes for defending the indefensible. Hughes was wrong to say 'cut him some slack', because what Adebayor done was very wrong, but for Wenger to come out and have a rant at Hughes for defending his player is laughable.

| Well no appeal from City over the stamping incident then.
So the strikers rota for Sunday equals:-
OUT
Adebayor
Tevez
Robinho
Santa Cruz
Benjani
IN
Bellamy
Stevie Ireland very doubtful too.
I might as well rip my ticket up.
