With the legendary "Open" commencing tomorrow - i'm shocked that there isn't already a thread.

Any predictions?

I hope Padraig Harrington can win a sensational 3rd consecutive Open, but recent form isn't too encouraging.

Also expect Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood to figure well.

Think it could be a year where a fairly low key American comes good as happened with Crane and Hamilton, not sure who perhaps Chad Campbell will be the man.

I can't get into golf as a TV sport because of this. It's alll so random and inconsistent that any of the field could win. This means there are no real rivalries and little edge to it all. Far too gentlemanly for me.

Got my Ben's mixed up it was Curtis that won the open in 2004 not Crane....sorry

I would love to see Harrington win again, I can't see it happening though TBH. I'll go for Jim Furyk or Lee Westwood...

Westwood's started well. Let's hope he keeps it going. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Poulter win

That's the best thing about it, the unpredictablility of the sport. No-one is guaranteed to win, or be up in the main places.

Still a quality player I love watching him play still and he always does well at the Open or senior open

Played very well today and his bunker shot mid round was pure class.

Firstly... why isnt it being broadcast in HD? BBC really are crap.

Anyway as far as the golf, you will see a lot of good scores today with the "perfect" conditions but as the weekend rolls in the longer hitters will be more suited.

Harrington has changed his swing over the winter and is really struggling to come to grips (pardon the pun) with it so far this year. Tiger seems to have started solidly enough without really doing anything spectacular so you can never rule him out.

I think Sergio might just break his duck this week though and actually watching him today has give me confidence. He has been so poor with his tee shots yet seems to be rescuing the holes. If he can put 2 good rounds together he will be in a great position.
