Started well enough with Vicky Pendleton finishing third to Anna Mears and Simona Kuperkaite in the 500m time trial - beating Sandie Clair and the crack Cuban rider in the process. Not bad for an event she doesn't specialise in but Kuperkaite was different class - shattered the world record by 0.3 secons (which had just been broken by Mears).

Chris Newton failed to win the Men's Points race.

Big event tommorow for me, Pendleton and Speedy in the Womens Team Sprint

this would not even be on the bbc if we didnt have a such a good team. its a shame 1 of the terrestrials cant show extended highlight of the tour de france

There were decent highlights on ITV2 last year. Not terrestrial but most people now have access to it I'd have thought?

Mark Cavendish in the 15KM scratch race this evening should be entertaining...he's got definite issues to resolve following Beijing.
The GB Women in the Team Pursuit should be good too, Lizzie Armistead is hugely, hugely talented and hopefully won't falter in the big races as Wendy Houvenaghel has a sad history of doing.

GB Women qualify fastest in the Team Pursuit and will face New Zealand in the final this evening.

None of the 3 British sprinters qualified directly in the Mens Keirin and are racing in the repechage to try and get through to the 2nd round.
