| Quote ="NickyKiss"I don't know much about him or Stefan Marsh(think thats his name) but both seem to be regular scorers for the u21's and both are quite highly rated from what i read.
Thornley i've only seen a couple of times but he is a big lad. He must be 6ft 4 but theres not much weight on him by the looks of it.
The plan must be for one of these 2 to take Carmonts place eventually but saying that i presume the club must think K Pryce has a chance of doing that aswell but he would look to have a whole heap of soul searching before he's ready to do that.'"
I'm struggling to see why we keep him on. IMHO he is a waste of cap space (albeit not very much cap-space) better spent/invested elsewhere.
I just can't understand this mon - 6foot odd and 20 odd stone and quite pacy? He should be ramming through SL defensive lines. He just looks scared.
I'd be glad to be proved wrong - quite happy to be proved wrong but IMO he should be released at the end of the season.

He has bags of potential but he must stay at Wigan for another season or so before Wigan could even consider loaning him out or promoting him to the first team on a full-time basis.'"
Maybe so but I can't see any advantage in keeping him in the reserves for another 12 months. Scores like yesterday's 66-6 have been a regular occurance for the reserves over the last 12 months. What the hell has he learned from that??? How should he be developed over the next year? Playing in a reserve team winning by 40-50 points each week isn't the answer. The answer is for our top 4-5 players from the reserves play in the National Leagues (preferably a team near the top), then the Academy promote to fill the void in the reserves...and so on!
As IL stated, maybe the odd 1-2 players to get vital coaching experience for our NRL partnership Club. Benefits Wigan as we would also get a young Aussie lad or two on short term contracts (as was also stated by IL at the Forum).

I think the reason they kept him on was because they're fearful they'll let him go and then the penny will drop with the lad whilst at a club like Leigh(or somebody similar) and he'll start to pull his finger out. If he did that a big club would go in for him and maybe they could get the best from him. If a team could only get his attitude to imporve they'd be onto a monster of a player.
We have to hope we're the team that can get something from him. It's going to take something abit different to get that from him and it might be that a change of coach(if it happens) or a loan move to the National leagues will help him.
Like you say how a 6ft 5, nearly stone beast of a bloke can run around like he's scared of his own shadow is beyond me.
Imagine him with Sam Tomkins faerless attitude

I understand and in part agree with what your saying about development but if he were to go out on loan - for arguments sake - to Widnes, would he really push Varkulis/Kohe-Love out of their positions? Not really IMO.
Which is why I think he should be kept at Wigan for another season, play him in a few pre-season friendlies and then send him out on loan.
IF the NRL partnership club thing does happen, he should be sent over there - he'd come back pure quality IMO.

Exactly, it's frightening isn't it?
Maybe a new coach would change his attitude - maybe it wouldn't who knows? It annoys me that he has huge potential but for one reason or another doesn't show it much.
I seriously seriously hope I am proved wrong with Pryce.

Thats the worry.
The only hope for Pryce is that something will kick him into gear. The worry in hoping for that though is that nealry 2 years out through injury if anything made him looks less interested.
A proper waste of a talent.

Trying to compare him to someone from the past and the only player that comes to mind is Simon Haughton. Even then SH had some absolute belting games early in his career after which he just seem to give up.

Kris Rads said in his book that Haughton was such a fantastic natural talent but just didn't care much for playing rugby league.
Your right in that Pryce looks to be cut from the same cloth.

After watching 22-year-old Simon Haughton run through the entire Australian pack to score in a test match at Elland Road (in addition to all the other teams he routinely ran through, including the likes of Saints, Leeds, Canterbury etc), I remember thinking that we possibly had one of the hottest properites and greatest second rowers on Earth.
Less than two years later, he'd viritually disappeared as a professional RL player. Truly one of the game's great mysteries.

He terrorised the Aussies that day at Elland Road(shame the rest of the team didn't).
He wasted his talent and we have one or 2 in this squad that look like they could do the same.
Kris Rads should get into them and tell them all about his mate Simon Haughton.

I'm beginning to wonder if the only reason Wigan haven't announced anything yet is because Noble hasn't made his mind up where he's going.

I agree. If he is in such a position of power at the negotiating table over IFL we really are in trouble.
I do not think this is the case though, i am optimistic BN has known his future lies elsewhere for some time.

It may just be that they don't want to publicly tell the guy he isn't wanted before this campaign has finished. It's no skin of Wigan's nose if they've already got something sorted, and it would spare Noble a bit of embarrassment.
Of course, they won't be able to wait forever for him to announce that he's going somewhere else.
On the other hand, if Noble was staying for another year, I see nothing to be gained whatosever by withholding it.

Quite surprised at this from what i was told it he was all but signed a couple of months ago for Wigan, his inclusion in the semi team though perhaps was an indication relationships had been improved upon.
Would have liked him with us in 2010 think he could have given us so much needed consistent go forward.
I am now really concerned that we have missed out on another target and starting to think we really will not be making any additions to the frontrow, really hope i am wrong on this.

The way he was celebrating at FT in the semi had me hopeful he'd signed a new deal. He started poorly this season, had a fall out with Browny and got dropped for 'disciplinary reasons' for two weeks but since then has improved consistently. I'm glad we've kept him as it looks like Jacko is off to Cas and we don't want wholesale changes to our pack. We could use one more top prop to replace Jacko though. Seems Korky will be off to Wakey and I don't think Scully is the answer.

The way its going we may be in a bidding war for Scully with you as the options in the frontrow market seem to be very limited now to say the least.
