No singing Wire songs is part and parcel of the banter of the game, throwing things at them in retaliation isn't.

I'm not one to go in for all of this labelling the fans on one club the same, I know that its only a small minority of fans who are idiots but to try to justify throwing things because the fans don't like a song is wrong.

I saw 17 Wigan fans standing on the head of a 90 year old, helpless Wire fan who had done nothing but wave a little flag and shout "Up the Wire".

Shocking.

Not justified at all, but if I did it I'd expect something to happen or be said.

I wouldn't, I would expect a song sang back in retaliation not to have things thrown.

Fans should be able to wind each other up in banter without the risk of a physical/abusive response.

Lets face it, every team has the problem of fans that drink and look for trouble. No one blames there team for starting stuff its always someone else. Some games bring it out more than others in people.

We have fans that are no angels either, at the game I was embarassed at a few of our older fans. Section D a couple rows up in the North Stand, 2 men both bald and a woman who was mouthing off to everyone behind thinking she was some superstar trying to get the crowd goin and then joining in with the other 2 men who were wanting to start a fight with Wire fans thinking it was clever pointing "outside now" etc..

No need for that. If there was trouble its a small minority, i have been to plenty of games with wire supporters and not seen any trouble from them, some of the nicest fans i have met, dont tar all supporters of a club with the same brush.

Firstly I am not your chum,

Secondly I don't think jumping on them will sort anything out, whats the point of responding to violence with violence. If that would work there would have been a full scale riot yesterday in response to bottles and punches being thrown by wire fans.

Thirdly I am not a man, I am a woman who actually had 5 children in our party yesterday aged between 5 and 14 who have no need to witness what they saw.

And lastly I have no idea what a dickwad is so can you please enlighten me, nor do I have any idea who you are, but I imagine the term dickwad may be applicable to you and I have no intention of effing off anywhere. I dunno about me not being welcome, but at least I don't go around posting drivel and threats on your board.

With the response you have made to a genuine post, I have no suprises by what happened just before full time yesterday in the west stand.

I take it that formal complaints will be forwarded to RFL/Police?

Obviously stuff that is alledged to have gone on outside the ground would be harder to prove, but bottle throwing, and the other incidents that occured inside the ground should all be covered by CCTV (or even the BBC cameras?) so should be a lot easier to highlight who the trouble-makers were!!

As a Leigh fan - in recent years we have not had that many games against the Wolves, so not many experiences to go off. We drew them at home in the cup last year, and there were no problems at all. In SL (2005), at the HJ the Leythers had a fantastic time (and nearly a shock result!!), and we were treated with nothing less than courtesy from all the Wire fans we encountered.
In the reverse fixture, the fans who turned up (in very large numbers.....best away support that season IIRC) were impeccably behaved. A gang of about 7/8 'pi$$ed-up ninjas' - none of whom were in Warrington colours - got in at the Home end, and proceeded to start mouthing off/obscene chanting/etc - they were quickly removed from the stand by the stewards, and escorted to the Warrington end.
After the game there was some trouble in Leigh town centre (windows put through in one pub IIRC - and eye-witness accounts claimed it was the same bunch of tools who had caused the bother at the ground. IMHO these were not Warrington Wolves fans - just gob$hytes - who saw the opportunity of a well attended game to cause bother!!

Strangely went to the game with my wife and kids and didn't see one single incident of abusive behaviour either verbal or physical.

Minor incidents involving a minority of supporters springs to mind.

Didn't you lot attack Leeds fans after losing the GF?

They were sat on the front row on about the 30 metre line, both bald and in their forties.

As a Wigan fan I was ashamed of them. They spent half the game trying to "offer out" the Wire fans.

Idiots.

I run the Bowling Club next to the stadium and would just like to thank both sets of fans for the way they behaved in and around our club yesterday.

Both sets of fans mingling together without any problems, plenty of good natured banter and singing going on.

I would like to thank any of you that used our club for your patience while waiting to be served, as you can imagine we dont normally have that volume of customers, people had to wait ages for a pint yet nobody complained or kicked up a fuss.

A big thank you to the group of postmen from Wigan who stayed til around 7ish playing doms and singing, hope you enjoyed your day , apart from the result.

Thought I would mention it just to help counteract any mud-slinging going on.
