Memory may be playing tricks, but I can't remember it being a big issue when he broke into the team in the halves. At least he has two strong defenders either side of him in Gelling and Bateman

many folk saying that even now there are still a few unsettled players in the sqaud, Currie being one of them. I've even heard a far fetched rumour than Wigan have already made an offer to him but it will not be dealt with until after the WC, presumably when Wire could potentially have more reason to haggle.
don't shoot the messenger, not sure what the Wigan stance is now we have brought in Hamlin to be fair. certainly a good centre in the vein of Gells, i.e. specialised second rower moved to centres. currie could be a potential future 13 to replace lockers too!

What happens to MM/Powell? Who both are clearly among Wane’s favourites.

It won't be any issue whatsoever. He was fine defending in the line last time and he's bigger and stronger now.

More likely for me would be for TL to start to make the move into coaching which means the start of his gradual retraction from playing in a ‘squad player’ type role rather than starting position. That gives us versatility in the halves and hooking position if needed.
Touching on the Currie rumour I’d be astounded if Warrington let arguably their best player go to a huge rival in Wigan, even with a substantial transfer fee. I’d be delighted to have him in our squad but it means displacing Faz/Bateman/SOL. Notwithstanding that Currie has the potential to be better than Faz/Bateman, who do you drop to accommodate him? A player like Currie signed for a huge fee and on an equally huge wage doesn’t just sit on the bench.
I don’t think we could reasonably sign Currie without letting Bateman/Faz go or unless SOL retires. It’s a very very tough call to make.

Lockers to prop giving him a breather mid game Currie to Loose or Bateman?
All four would give us a bit of edge

I'd be very surprised to see Currie go anywhere except Australia and let's not forget, he's still recovering from a major injury. Hopefully for his sake it won't reoccur and he can kick on but spending big could be risky.

| There is zero chance...us taking Currie off Warrington would be the equivalent of last year with the GW to Wire rumours, the fee would immense (probably to much for IL to warrant) and the only way they would even consider it is if the player himself is so unhappy that staying put is a no go. I cannot see with brand new management throughout that a young man like Ben Currie would be kicking up such a fuss.

| Gregson has signed for Leigh. Slightly disappointing, Thought he had a future here. I suppose when you fall out with Wane and Radlinski it's game over though. Not one of the boys. Good luck Greggo

| Pauli Pauli is on the market. 6'4" just this side of 20 stone. Had his problems over the last few years and very raw, but worth a punt for the right price in my opinion, especially if FPN is confirmed as gone.

I was literally looking him up the other day actually. Would be a great signing but has too many off field issues which will probably put the club/Wane off.

I always thought Gregson would have been one of the ones to make it at Wigan. He’s fairly big, quick for his size, versatile, good hands and can even kick a bit.

From a playing point of view my only issue with his would be his loose carry. He is prone to the odd unforced error which to fair has been the plight of our squad over the last couple of years.
His impact is massive though and for such a unit he has a half decent engine.
I expect he will sign for a traditionally weaker SL team have a great season then have all the bigger clubs chasing him when his contract is up much like David Fafita.

Melbourne have a solution to loose carries and sloppy play the ball, they fine the players $100 for every error. Maybe Wane should fine the player £100 for every unforced error and give it to a charity.

Having all 4 would be fantastic and we would have a back row to be envied. As I’ve said though I’d be absolutely astounded if Warrington would let him go to another SL club. Personally I think he’ll end up in the NRL one day rather than be snapped up by another SL club.

he may demand a large transfer fee but I don't think he has the right to command an equally large salary just yet. like I said earlier, with the signing of Hamlin this sheds more doubt on the loose rumour I heard. can't name the source. but FYI, Sean Long practically blurted out that GW had signed for Wire just before he signed his Marquee contract with us. there must have been some truth in the rumour if a player still with heavy ties to the game believes a player has signed a contract. they all chat to each other outside the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if Wigan HAVE made an offer to Wire for Ben.
but with FPN looking like returning and Hamlin in, I can't see much room anywhere unless he is being touted as a utility player. i'd have him in a heartbeat however. faz, bateman, Tomkins etc all need a little kick to spur them on after a disappointing year (on the whole).
