Late, stiff arm to the head with the player not looking...
They don't happen by accident.
Very naughty.

| I spoke to someone after the game who said that if the refereeing doesn’t improve they would seriously consider whether or not to renew their season ticket for next year, he said it seems that Wigan players are being single out for rough justice. I don’t think he was just speaking about last night’s game, but the season as a whole. He does have a point though; there have been some baffling incongruities in some refereeing decisions , when one player (MM. Bradford) gets a straight red for one so called punch, and another Paul wood gets to stay on, he does have a bit of a point. I have said earlier on in this thread what about Perry’s action on Lima in the second half? Not even a yellow. A bad refereeing decision can ruin a spectacle for an awful lot of people. I’m not saying the red last night was wrong, but on seeing it again it may have been harsh in comparison to other incidents. Why are there no yellow cards for Wigan anymore? They always seem to be RED!

Alright then, us losing the game had nothing to do with having 12 men for 60 minutes, it was because we missed some 1 on 1 tackles. Give me a break!

Agree with most of that, I couldn't have argued against Perry picking up a yellow as the contact was a bit dodgy.

The attempts by some people to paint this as some kind of witch-hunt against Wigan is pathetic.

| Quote ="DaveO"I am basing my comments on what I [usaw[/u at the game which since that is all I have seen seems fair enough to me. Lockers as I have often said on here is far too shy compared to Sinfield or Briers so to see him blow a gasket is way out of character.
I find it interesting though that you ignore the points I made about sending offs in general. You know that all those saying "It was definitely a sending off" have never disagreed with such a decision themselves in the face of others saying it was. From [iwhat I saw at the game[/i it was one of those that might get a red a yellow or nothing. It's yet another incident that makes the case for video refs at all games or at none because I am convinced it was Ganson watching it in slow motion (as no doubt you did on the replays) who made the decision.'"
Child saw it and was giving the penalty from the second it happened.
Once play had stopped it was Ganson who advised him it was a red.
For the last 4 months I've been telling the lad I sit next to that MM's nhits on the player off loading the ball were going to come back and haunt us.
The difference with those and what happened last night was that usually he hits them with the shoulder or pushes with the hands, last night he hit him with a swinging arm.
The second it happened I said Red Card
Watching it again I've not changed my mind as it was reckless
Only Tiny bit of mitigation IMO is that he did swing and it defelcted off the shoulder although that's still reckless in my book.

I remember someone saying we had no chance at Saints Good Friday and would get beat by 18+
Write your teams chances off and if it happens you can say I told you so, if it doesnt no-one remembers? Good Tactic
I don't remember there being much concern about Wane's coaching from April through to begining of July?

Really??? I havent posted on here all season and yes, I have been concerned, since day one. I never thought he was the man the job.
The fact is, he's been outcoached twice this year by Tony Smith, and will be again if we meet in the play offs. Dont read anything into finishing top, I here all this "the league doesnt lie" sorry but thats a myth, in Super League the league does sometimes lie, in my opnion Warrington are a better team and better coached than Wigan this year, the fact that in more games this season they have rested players than us is the reason why they finished second. Being the smarter coach, Smith has prepared his squad perfectly for the play offs after learning the hard way last season. The amount of points we have shipped in the last few weeks is also a worry, 20+ at Hull KR, 26 last night, 30+ at Warrington. Our defence doesnt get off the line lately, its one step forward and plant your feet. Now that is coaching, they are obviously being told to defend in this way, and it isn't working, Lomax took on our line time after time last night and no wonder, nobody moved up and closed him down, same with LMS. In big games this year when we have gone behind, Wane doesnt seem to know how to change it, Wire away was a classic example, we were getting 2 men in the tackle, they were hitting the floor at immediate impact and killing us with fast play the balls, everybody could see what was happening and yet we came out for the second half and continued to not get 3 men in the tackle and slow them down, low and behold, we shipped 30+ points. The semi final, again, we never recovered from an early onslaught and nothing seemed to change second half. IMO we looked far, far better drilled under Maguire, maybe he should have stuck to what Madge taught them rather than being "his own man" and all this "il do it my way" b0llocks he keeps coming out with.
He'll be in the job for another 5 years though dont worry..............."he's a Wiganer" the fans choice.

So I got a score prediction wrong, whats your point? That was also the last time I posted anything.
I wasn't responding to your Saints Good Friday comment, hence why I didnt quote it, I was replying to your "nobody moaned about Wane April to July" comment, the bit that was quoted, to which I explained why I didnt want him to get the job from day one, I think he'll take us backwards over the next couple of seasons.

| Scenario 1 with Tommy at 9 please. Thanks
You want to go to Saints or Leeds away after playing 2 home games one after the other? Are you mad? Rather than play 2 home games with a week off inbetween?
Dont worry if its scenario 2, Micky Mac will probably get sent off, he's already done it 3 times this year.

If the U20's win today and their next two games, then McIlorums ban (if it's two games) wil only effectively be one first team game as the U20 game would count.

| He got what he deserved simple sending off, he is a thug and always has been. If it had been ryan bailey there
would be people on this forum calling for a lifetime ban. As for Mr Childs I dont rate him and this is not the game I would have selected him to ref. However, I think it was the best performance of refereeing I have seen from him since his debut at Hull KR several years ago. Thought he was exellent and as a neutral fan overall reffed the game very well. 3 reds for MM this year says it all............simples.
As for Shaun Wane he should keep it shut, Tony Smith would have diverted the question when asked and stated 'have have not had chance to see the replay' As for Wane he is a passionate Wiganer but on many occasions this year some of his comments have been disrespectful at times to other teams and 'arrogant' it
will all come back to haunt him trust me it always does.
As for Wigans style of play some posters are correct on here, Tony Smith will always out coach Wigan because he is a better Coach at this time compared to Shaun Wane. Wigan are too predictible in attack with dummy runners and Sam on the loop every time. Theres no plan B. And a lot of teams are now taking advantage of Sams weakness under the high ball.
I thinK Tommy to hooker is a better option for Wigan in the play off so you wont miss MM when he gets a 3 match ban.
Best off luck in the play offs though all the same and I look forward to seeing you all DWD for the eliminator against Leeds.

| Who was refereeing last night > Child or Ganson? It was poor, Child always tries to make a name for himself, he's even worse when he's a linesman- hes always runs on the pitch waving his flag against Wigan - he cant wait to do it. Watching Silverwood now in the catalan game now and his performance is even worse. What has happened to the refereeing standard? I'm shocked at Silverwood but I expect it from Child & Ganson

| The video ref was reffing the game , absolutely no doubt, also agree re Silverwood , said on radio the other week , standard of refs and touchies is at an all time low, no competition for places, and rely on video ref all the time, so get lazy and are not in position.
Needs a change at the top, i.e. Mr Cummins

| Quote ="crackfox"not read all of this thread so forgive me if i repeat someone else but i think it probably was a red but ive also seen certain players let off with exactly the same, i mean players like morley do at least 1 high tackle every week and never get sent off or suspended thats the difference. i'd like to see the differential between penalties conceded for high tackles and those sent off and its the same for those that throw punches because every time ive seen a wigan player in a fight or punch up he's been sent off or suspended but thats not the case for other players in other teams WHY?.
1 more thing how come a swinging arm is a red card but elbowing ur opponent in the head while he is on the floor isn't.'"
Not scrutinised the incident frame by frame but from watching it on the telly, but the ball had long gone so maybe thats why it was red in comparison to Perry's (which was wrong) and some of the tackles Morley is famous for. Also there are some calls on here for a yellow, Can someone clarify when a yellow can be given? I seem to recall that it can't be used for deliberate foul play (which in the officials opinion, and for what its worth mine, it was).
