| Quote ="Renegade"It's pretty obvious that Wigan are not the only side to walk early from a game but I'm not sure if any other clubs have fans leaving early when we are WINNING (sometimes only by two points or so) - I can never fathom out why somebody would ever do that? Taking a tonking I can understand but winning? Nah.'"
There's a couple just in front of me that always leave 5 minutes early, irrespective of the score. Never understood that.
They even did it in the Leeds playoff game last year, when the score was still 26 all.

Anyone see Motd then? Showed the tics fans off home at 2-0 down... crossing the bridge just outside the south stand

| Quote ="Phil-P"Indeed - new grounds can be good and bad for a club. In the long term Saints new ground will secure the future of the club. A new ground brings with it the prospects of more corporate revenue and hopefully affordable tickets at a top class rugby league ground. It also allows the club to do something that they were unable to do at Knowsley Rd - attract new fans and familys. Better players will also be attracted to the club as a result of playing at a better stadium with better facilities.
After the honey moon period is over at the new ground I don't see crowds reaching over 10,000 for most matches sucess or not. Luckily though the new ground will be the main achievement in what will be a very lean spell on the field for the club.
In the short term however things will be bad. Only the real die hards will trek to Widnes. Personally i'm too dissolusioned with rugby league as a sport to even contemplate going to Widnes. I have been for the past 5 years and have very rarely watched any games either live or on TV (partly due to living abroad for the past two years). A poor excuse however I'd much rather watch some of the vintage Youtube rugby league clips that are available than Super League right now.'"
I share that sense of disillusionment Phil. Although I try to get to as Wigan many games as I can with family and work commitments and living in Yorkshire to overcome, I find it increasingly difficult to be enthusiastic about pro RL in general. Take today, with a massively overhyped RU Eng v France game featuring a Wiganer who is a household name, with a RL game on Sky at roughly the same time watched by what looked like only a couple of thousand fans, with only a few hundred if that travelling from W Yorks to N Wales and almost nil media profile for the game or any of the players (other than ex-RU Thomas, who is not known as a RL player by the general public). What a depressing day.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game but the long term future of the sport at professional level looks bleak.

We have the same thing.
But to be fair they do it to beat the traffic, win or lose.
To be honest it doesn't bother me, as long as my mate gets down to the SS bar with two minutes to go to order the beer.

Of course they're entitled to do it, I just don't understand why. Missing the traffic..yeah ok, and if the game's over, win or lose, I can sort of understand it in a way.
In the example I mentioned about the Leeds game, though, I just find that completely bizarre.

It depresses me more that we have a dearth of coaching talent in the UK - John Kear and Richard Agar FFS - and yet the likes of Edwards, Ford and Farrell are giving RU the benefit of their experience.

| Quote ="Fatbelly"Never again can any Saints fan mention the Wigan walk.
Tonight on 55 minutes when Louis Anderson scored his try to make it 24 - 0 a small but noticeable number of Saints fans were heading for the exits.
At about 72 mins when Lee Briers put over his drop goal then it was a seizable section of the Saints fans in the stand that runs along the pitch left.
I was there and saw it.'"
I'll tell you that i also witnessed another wigan walk tonight,i saw it,the ground had about 50 st george fans in it when they lifted the trophy, that was some mass exodus even by your high standards

What a total load of balls you talk. there was more people left in that ground than you get for a home game . I'm surprised you can see anything with them balls hanging in front of your face *but that does explain your view* .. Do the maths on that one numb nuts .

| I didnt leave the game when it finished today, although if i did i certainly wouldnt be losing any sleep over it!
Its good when other fans cant criticise wigan for anything else, other than leaving after a game has finished

| The 'bridge' was a nightmare tonight.
Hope they build another one soon!
Actually felt sorry for some people, there was an elderly couple in front of me that were really struggling to stay on their feet in the mud and with people pushing in front of them.

| I can't believe other fans expect wigan fans to stay for 15 mins after the game to watch the other team lift the trophy, nobody else does, but because its wigan....
I did but I can see why others wouldn't.
There was no Wigan walk tonight....

Who? Danny McGuire? He's out already isn't he, courtesy of the Rugby Gods?
Or did you mean Maguire, the Wigan coach?
Mind you, even Sky Sports managed to get his name wrong on one of those pre-game captions, so maybe we can let you off!

But surely RG, we all go to the game to watch our team play RL , not to beat the traffic.
If they want to beat the traffic then get up at 6am on a Sunday morning and they can then drive around Wigan for an hour in traffic free bliss.
No RL club gets Soccer type attendances so leaving early to beat the traffic is a pretty poor excuse. Most RL fans support the team of the town they live in (apart from Saints fans of whom a notable number live and work in Warrington) so getting home for anybody is not a real problem.
