I did actually; he looked effective at 7 for the NZW. But with Shaun Johnson in the team, they weren't reliant on him as a primary kicker.

Agree I though he was great last year. Frustratingly the best part of his game was being the controlling half whilst Johnson did his thing.
I appreciate TL hasn't been great but we also need to look at Williams contribution. The dummy step go or grubbed to the winger aren't the only attributes a half should have.

I've been saying for a while - on occasion to some derision - that I think George Williams is the other part of our halfback problem
It's not that he's not a potentially good player, but he's still got a lot to do to prove himself. And yet, thanks to what sounds like a couple of ridiculous offers from other clubs over the last close season, everyone's suddenly treating him like Andy Gregory Mk. II. Well, he's a long way from that. He's a physical presence on the field, for sure, but a lot of his decision-making is very green. I'm also starting to wonder if the 'lob to the corner', which maybe works 1 time in 10, is the only real string to his bow.
Prematurely or not, he is now one of our regular pivots, so we have to live with this. But we need a much improved George Williams next season if we are to catch up any lost ground.
That said, I still think Tommy is our main problem. Lots of respect for his previous stint at Wigan, but last season he was a disaster. He needs to be replaced ASAP.

| Watching the million pound game and Sam Moa and Anthony Maria both impressive props. I be quite content if we took a punt on Josh Drinkwater too! Looks like he could be a good player with a good kicking game.

| That's the best game I've ever seen Sam Moa play, outstanding. I'd take him and Bousquet if they became available.

| I like Drinkwater...although he only managed one try this year, he has 12 try assists and nearly 100 attacking kicks...can't help thinking Ben Reynolds would be a better "punt" for us at 7, certainly adds a kicking game and also cures the goalkicking situation.

| Heard Gregson wanted out, unhappy with the way Wane treats other players, they had a fall out. Radz spoke to Gregson and now he's going.
Bretherton has been told to expect to be on loan or find another club.
FPN removed himself from the other players group WhatsApp chat, he's all but gone.
Lockers was disgusted with the offer Wigan offered him, so he's pushing for Toronto.
Also heard Joel has been given another 2 year deal.

| Another two year deal for Joel? Didn't he sign for two years earlier in the year? Meaning 2018 & 2019?

| Josh Drinkwater is part of the reason Leigh have been relegated, he is nowhere near the standard required. Nowhere near good enough for the NRL or even SL.

I hope that's a joke about Joel?or it's a restructuring of his deal so he's on a lower wage.
Losing lockers would be a disaster too,yes he's missed a good chunk of the season (less than most this season though) but he's been brilliant when on the pitch and he should finish his playing career at Wigan, retire and go straight into our coaching staff.

IF any of this is true then it is a very worrying time for the club with a head coach who seems to be attempting to protect his position and surround himself with allies in what will ultimately be a futile attempt to retain in charge.
The only sensible move if the above it true is to see Bretherton go on loan.

Missed a good chunk of the season? He's played in 26 out of 34 games and we lost every game he missed. To miss 8 games at the age of 35 is more than reasonable and we should just give him whatever he wants!

I think we should let him have a swan song with Toronto and then get him on the coaching team for 2019. We can't keep relying on him and it's best to start next season minus lockers.

I don't think you understand what I'm getting at, I fully agree with you and I want lockers to stay on and finish his career at Wigan and join our coaching team.I'm just giving the only reason I see as to why the club (allegedly) have offered him a substandard contract. In the scheme of things last season he played more than most but he still missed a quarter of the season and has missed a hell of a lot of games the last few seasons.

Reynolds would certainly be worth a punt for me. He looks that type of young half who has a swagger about him and he'll come on leaps and bounds in the right environment (which probably is Wigan at the moment).

| I’m making the prediction now that if we lose Lockers as a player for next year, we will finish in the middle 8s.
I’d be sad to see Gregson leave as he has always looked a good player, quick for a back row forward, with good hands.

| I'd be interested in bringing Mortimer to Wigan. Plenty of craft that we need around the ruck.

| I believe a new signing to be announced tonigt. Suspect it will be an Aussie half.
FPN gone. If that's announced then players will be pleased.
Source is usually pretty sound.
