Fact. He would have stayed if Wigan would have offered a similar deal to Salford. He should have been signed up earlier in the season instead of that stupid taking up the option just so he could be sold. Bad management, simple as that.

At the end of the HH was signed to a contract and thus the power was with Wigan. Regardless of what HH did or didn't want to do the club had to play ball with him. Why sell our best defensive player, a stalwart of the side and not replace him with like for like quality?

I said it earlier on in the week that our recruitment has been absolutely shocking this season and i was slated for it. Hopefully tonight will be the wake up call for the some of the fans that think we either recruited well or think it's acceptable to replace some of the best players in the league with either children or players with massive question marks against them.

So instead we decide to go with our current option of trying every man and his dog there - Hughes, Club and Bateman by my reckoning.

i wish people would stop making excuses at every turn. It's a poor decision by Wigan and we are now seeing the results of it with a leaky defence.

If the defence was like that from the go this would have been easy but for some reason it was crap 1st half.

I do wonder what the defensive tactics are, wether they are rush from outside in or to just slide. Goulding looked a different player when it was sliding in that 2nd half. Plenty of improvement in that 2nd half which was pleasing.

Much better second half and we'll be fine eventually but it'll take some time to get over the losses and get everyone bedded in. I stick to my opinion that Hansen is the biggest miss because I believe we could have avoided it (I say that because we didn't have to take a fee for him especially after losing so much experience).

We're a fully fit side and a solid right sided second rower off challenging for trophies again IMO. Both can be sorted as the season goes on with a bit of luck.

Fully redeemed ourselves 2nd half. We looked a bit nervous at times early on I thought. Keating (ginger 7) for Hull KR ran the show that first half.

2nd half they were pretty much shot!

That side of Charnley, Goulding, Smith and Hughes was absolutely embarrassed in defence tonight they need to work on that during the week. Schoolboy stuff.

A much better performance overall and result than last year's home match v HKR, even with the forum's favorite son HH playing in the game last season.

We are lacking some class in the side.

To me it looked like the line speed in defence was poor. They'd step up a few paces with no conviction and let the forwards run at them and kept losing the collision.

Close to the line this meant the defence was flat footed, not moving up to meet the attack and not sliding across causing the players to bunch up.

Rovers kept getting an extra man down their attacking side again and again and it seemed like someone down the middle wasn't moving across to account for this leaving the defence short time and time again. That's something that O'Loughlin and McIlorum do but it didn't seem to be happening tonight.

The music at the start of the game was very apt, it was a circus without a tent and the ring master had left leaving the clowns in charge.
We seemed to make life hard for ourselves all over the pitch through sloppy play and bad decisions, not just in defence.
On the plus side we didn't concede second half and came away with a win.

Whoever decided to play that music wants shooting. So dated.



The defence was disorganised and after the final HKR try (I think) the players were arguing with each other. The way both Goulding and Charnley shot out of the line was schoolboy RL. Overall though I think Goulding was to blame for most of the problems on that side and think he will be fortunate not to be dropped next week.

Whatever Wane said at half time, he needs to say it before the game kicks off!

I wouldn't worry.... you cant defend we cant attack. Thursdays game may not be a classic....!!

They play it ONCE a year to celebrate the heritage game, we are a club with a tremendous history, why shouldn't we remember our past every now and again?

Don't worry, out lack of ideas in attack and the fact we haven't played well yet this season is our worry at Wire.

If you want something to moan about, what about that stuff at half time!

I just ignored that stuff and read the programme. The half time "entertainment" was basically a ten minute long advert. The half time (and pre-match) stuff is never what attracts me to go to a game (Does it attract anyone to attend?) but to use an advert to masquerade as entertainment is pretty shoddy.

Regarding the game itself keeping them scoreless in the second half was definitely the big plus. Why we couldn't defend that well from the start (and hadn't been able to so far this season) is the annoying part.
