Regards Pryce on what grounds can you say he is not going to bother trying?'"
the fact that when hes playing he looks lost on the field, he doesnt talk to anyone and never celebrates a try, yeah sounds like he really wants to play for wigan,
phelps on the other hand celabrates every try as if its won the league, he gets behind the players and looks like he wants to play for wigan, but lets play the yorkshireman who wants to play for wigan not the aussie, yeah right

I wouldn't actually be suprised if they took a punt on keeping him ahead of Carmont due to their ages although that would be a risky move.'"
In truth if we could sign a Hodges, Lyon etc to play centre would not mind sacrificing both, although i do not think it will happen I hasten to add.

I do not give a rats ass if he celebrates tries and some of Wigan's finest players of all time came from Yorkshire.
Phelps is not in my opinion starting first team quality in the backs, he cannot be spelled like a forward in the backs and we have Roberts Richards and Ainscough to cover the wings, he is not as good a centre as Carmont, or is yet to prove it, but if he does then Carmont can go. As i said above if we could sign a World Class centre i would sacrifice both. I do not believe the cap or the quota can accomodate an overseas "utility" player.
Phelps is a victim in my opinion of poor planning by the club, who by signing Roberts on a 4 year deal made him straight away expendable.

Agree mate but we should be looking at shelling out the big money on a prop imo and sticking with Carmont at centre for at least another 12months until Fielden is off contract.
When Fielden comes off contract dependant on how the prop signed for 2010 went we could just sign a run of the mill prop and go all out for our marquee centre then.
What is for sure is that with all these high earners coming off contract in the next 2 off season we should be seeing some ready made star signings and not taking punts on Mathers/Carmont types(Carmonts been sensational i may add) unless the coaching staff are 100% sure they'll be a success.

Prop is clearly a priority. As is a half. was just musing on what we could do. If Bailey, Coley, Phelps, Carmont, Smith's wages could fund a top class Prop, half and centre i would be happy to sacrifce 5 players for 3 given the youth we have coming through the ranks...Pryce.

Realistically he has had 3 months, the club signed him injured.
Signing Pryce is a much better bit of planning than offering Phelps a new deal then taking Roberts on board in a world where the cap is king.
Would be interested to hear your view on how much Pryce is on as well?!

If you think within the next 18 months we can release-
Phelps(possibly keep)
Pryce(as above)
Carmont(as above)
Smith
Coley
Fielden
Bailey
that is going to free up a big wedge of cash. I'd bring back Goulding as back up and then be looking at signing-
2 Props
Halfback
Centre
that could be 7 out with 4 coming in and the excess 3 players wages used to upgrade youngsters deals with the likes of Thronley, Mossop, Farrell, Davies really starting to push through with any luck.

Given my contacts from his previous club i beg to differ on the size of Pryces Wigan deal.
He has been injured for 2 years! Played 3 first team games. I think you may be underestimating just what it takes to be a SL player.

He took a significant wage drop to join Wigan thats all i am saying, you can doubt me all you want on this, but if you care to look back, i predicted his signing about 2/3 months prior to it happening and long before it was ever mentioned on here or in the press.

In 2011 he should be ready. I will hold off judgement till then, but in truth i think him and Ainscough will make a fantastic wing centre partnership. I will back the fact he has a strike rate of a try a game and an international call up at the age of 19 over 3 first team games at Wigan, after 2 years injured.

People were writing off Cameron Phelps a few weeks ago and look how quickily he's turned it around. Karl Pryce deserves the opportunity and time to prove himself, only then can he be disregarded.'" That's what Karl see's himself as.

| Personally I think he is a big duck egg.
He is seemingly injury prone too, it happens to a few players , sad, but that's the way it is.

To test 17 and 18 year olds, never mind 22 year olds with a fair amount of SL experience.

It can be.
Pryce is excelling at reserve level anyway, which probably proves that point. But it still doesn't take away the fact Pryce has potential.

| Karl Pryce is rubbish, always has been, always will be. He did okay in a very good Bradford team. He has a very poor skill set and isnt skillful enough for a centre because he can barely pass a ball. He is too soft and has no heart to play in the forwards and lacks the acceleration and agility to be a winger. If he wasnt 6'6" then no Super League club would even entertain the thought of playing him. Saying that seeing as he has been offered to every SL club on loan and no one wants him it would also seem that no one in SL, apart from Wigan, wants him either.
