as has been said, once again demonstrated great natural ability but could definitely benefit from more game time, positional coaching and more confidence. doesnt back himself when hed inevitably win most collisions.

There is still a lot of work to do with him in most aspects of his game. He loses the ball far too often for my liking and is far too lazy in his carries going into contact.

No its not. He has a very lazy one handed carry and lost the ball a few times today, as he did against Fev which led to a try, and has he has done in every game so far. It is a fault that he needs to work on.

however he is the morst enthusiastic and one of the stronger runners of our backline bringing it back in to play and taking it to the defence 1st tackle, he pushed a number of saints players back again in the tackle

Tatally agree with this. He looked hungry and worked very hard. The technical faults can all be worked on but the lads got potential coming out of his ears!

He has potential but his positional play today was woeful.

Hock gave him a real earbender in the second half.

don't see much wrong with him apart from a few positional mistakes but then again he is playing out of position as for his lazy one handed carries, i see Sam quite often uses one hand but then again Sam is the second coming so nothing bad must be said about him, as for losing the ball, i would say the sainted Pat richards would lose just as many when players are fiddling in the tackle, i would like to see him play one or two games at centre to see how he go's, one thing is for sure, when he is the finished article he is going to be a beast

which is funny as i saw Hock being given a couple of those by at least 2 different players

Came up with a couple of errors but i thought generally he was good today. Came up with big meters again down the middle, not easy yards on kick returns for example but carting up mixing it in the middle.

He was safe in defence off the kicks, took the attacking high balls very well.

As for Hock giving him an earbender he needed to have a word with himself. Excellent in defence but poor in attack today. He stifled and messed up several clear cut chances by unforced errors trying to do too much with the ball.

Not a classic game by any means but think Gelling went well again.

Positionally he isn't great, understandably seeing as he isn't a winger. He did well catching the bombs but could have done better with his passing and his offloads. Every game he has played hr could have scored/created 5 tries or so...

Positioning is much easier to learn for a winger than it is for a centre. I really can't see him being moved from the wing any time soon, hence the signing of Thornley. He is excellent at taking it in from his own half, has super work rate and is very competent with the high ball. His finishing, positioning and decision making needs working on and that should improve week-on-week outside George.

When I first saw him I called him lethargic but I have to say lately he has been very lively. I have been very impressed with him in the last few matches.

Got a good frame and is very athletic, with the potential to be an excellent player,with time on his side.

However, he needs some serious work. As the season progresses, more players will just attack the ball, rather than try and tackle him, as his carry is so poor. Not just the thumb-glued-to-the-finger technique but also the permanent right hand carry. In both the Fev and KR games he bombed a few opportunities because his right hand carry left him unable to fend in try scoring situations.

All very basic stuff but it's the kind of thing that is hard to make instinctive in an adult, hence learning good core skills being so important at a junior level.

Error after error after error today and you know what.....he was brilliant I thought. He caused no end of problems and his errors came in the right areas forcing offloads in their 20 which is understandable.

He's loads to learn but his raw materials are awesome. His enthusiasm is great to see.

On another day with a bit of luck we could have scored a few more thanks to his ability to take the high bomb. Hopefully with experience he'll be able to create his own luck and turn those chances into points.

Looks a great prospect but still alot of work to be done, he's a decent sized lad & runs pretty hard but for me when he gets the ball out on the wing in abit of space he looks to lack the confidence to really have a go at taking a player on & trying to go around them but he looks a much better player when he's taking a drive in down the middle of the park with the defensive line to run at. As for the prospect of him been the natural successor to George in the centres from the few games I've seen him play he's still a longway off, I'm struggling to really remember him throwing a ball that actually found another Wigan players hands & he has looked abit exposed in defence (altough that assesment maybe abit unfair seen as he has been on the wing). IMO he'd probably be best played in the second row but with the amount of talent we already have in that department he's got no chance there so needs to get his head down & put the work in to become a real option in the backs.

Thought he did well today. Positionally he wasn't great, In particular when Carmont broke away he was miles away. But he ran in the ball really hard and made some good yards, Did well to catch some difficult bomb's which on another day could have led to points. He still has a long way to go yet, but It's clear to see that he has the raw talent and ability to possibly become a great player. Promising performance.
