Completely disagree and I'm with McManus on this one.

The whole Hicks thing was an obvious PR stunt imo and everyone bought it. It was nauseating hearing that 'brave' Hicks met the guy who gave it the big one on Twitter. Let's face it, nothing was ever going to happen and Hicks milked the spot light for his own benefit.

Saints have every right to be aggrieved, because either Hicks is incompetent by not going to the VR or there's something shady going on. Either way his season should be over.

As for the claim that poor referring is driving fans away, get real. Fans might chose not to go to the match due a perceived lack of quality players, expensive ticket prices and maybe even crap weather. Surely nobody says ‘I’m not going any more because those referees are rubbish’?

Exactly, he was spot on Carney good on him for making a firm stand on it at after the game. The pressure is mounting obviously and cracks are starting to appear, McManus shouldn’t be making such embarrassing comments talk about sour grapes. To claim a ‘death threat’ as a publicity stunt is beyond idiotic, seriously hope the RFL take stern and decisive actions again him for bringing the game into disrepute.

I think saints were better last year than this year not taking away from the season they have had because they’ve done well

Refs have always been blamed for all manner of ills in the game, for as long as the game has existed. If anyone has stopped following the game because of refereeing, they're a moron, but I doubt anyone has.

People get upset with ‘trolls’ on these forums. Most of which is someone with a different opinion or someone on a wind up.

Twitter is a different level, threatening to kill someone is a criminal offence and should certainly not be ignored.

The ‘adult’ thing to do is to deal with the issue which is what was done.

Yeah the Saints page on here is dead mate, completely dried up. I post on redvee regularly still and then have a nosey on here and other teams pages now and then. Only posted as I’d been mentioned, I come in peace!

In truth redvee is no different to here really. On both forums there’s some really good posters, some really bad ones, some weirdos, some bias, some impartiality and some attention seeking idiots. I’m sure this forum has given Saints fans reason for a chuckle in the past and vice verca, that comes with the territory. I use redvee to share opinions and feelings on all things Saints and there’s some good discussions on there but also our fair share of fools.

I’ve always spoken honestly and say things as I see it. Some people don’t like that but I’m older and wiser now and don’t waste any time worrying about it. I don’t intend hanging round here much because eventually someone will want to pick an argument unfortunately.

Haha as I’ve said in another post, I’m glad you’re entertained by it, as I have been over the years with stuff on here. Even as recently as earlier this season when people were calling for Lam’s head for example. It’s the nature of these forums, they all have people who will react in a certain way and opposition fans will always find humour in that.

As for my comments to old Rogues, we have a love hate relationship and he knows my comments mean no harm.

Give over! I know you're far from being one of the worst on there but to suggest it's like an open forum is utterly ridiculous. Your page on here is dead because your fans couldn't stand being 'trolled' (read: someone posting an opinion that doesn't fit the Saints mantra) and so retreated to a pretty much closed shop so you could stroke each other off (metaphorically speaking of course.). I've said in the past that any opposition fan wandering on to Redvee is akin to the pub scene in American Werewolf in London!

That said, I'd much rather you joined in the wider rugby community. FearTheVee and others have been on occasionally and has contributed some reasonable opinions and it would be good to see yourself and others. Gives us someone to argue with, if nothing else.

To be fair the whole reason I stopped posting on here was because it was turning into the exact same scenario that you’ve described redvee as.
I admit not everyone gets a warm welcome but that’s when they’re so blatantly there only to wind people up and get a reaction. If opposition fans go into other forums (here or redvee) and contribute properly that’s fine. They don’t have to agree with everyone but as long as they aren’t trolling then they should be welcome. I was hounded off here by an existing mod purely for offering opinions that went against the majority and if that happened on redvee too I’d be the first to admit its wrong.

I know what your saying and you shouldn't be hounded for offering a different opinion but I genuinely don't think it's the same on RedVee as it is on an open forum. There are too few dissenting voices for that and a mob mentality ensues. I read it whenever there's something of interest (derby week or the recent cup final for example) and, as an occasional user, it's quite plain to see. I remember last time I was reading it Ralph Fridge appeared to be a voice of reason. I went on this week and he seems to have grown an extra finger and got a turned up nose, even going as far as asking for Rogues to be banned for expressing a view widely held by the greater rugby community. It seems to be "a local forum for local people" (sic) these days.

I mean, do you seriously think 'I f*cking hate Wigan' is the acceptable face of rugby league, let alone welcoming?

I think the problem is we’ve had a lot of bad trolls in the past and so now when any opposition fan turns up they’re met with suspicion straight away haha. Like I said if people just want to discuss rugby like a grown up then it shouldn’t matter who they support.

Widnes fan here who misses the SL greatly. To this end I've taken in a few live games down at the HJ and also the vape dome this season (they are both reasonably local to me) I have enjoyed the HJ experience and I must say that the Wire fans have been quite welcoming and jovial and are more than tolerant of my occasional uncontrollable outbursts of anti Warrington banter. Indeed I've become friendly with a few of them. However I found it just the opposite at Saints and found the whole experience much less friendly. Now I know there's good and bad in all sets of support but there is something about Saints from the top (as we've seen this last week) down to the grass roots which reeks of arrogance and self importance. It would appear that the Redvee thing backs this up!

I go on there occasionally and have a read.
And a little bit like our other forum but about 10x worse I find Redvee very insular and as others have said a "Mob Mentality".
Basically anyone from another club who comments is immediately treated as a "Troll" and whilst I do think that Rogues puts some Tongue in Cheek comments on there I very rarely see anything that is OTT, whilst in comparison some of the abuse he receives is ridiculous relative to the posts he's made.
It's almost like people just see a Username and immediately take a Reactionary Polar opposite stance and go on the attack and in a lot of instance get very personal.

The other site also doesn't get many opposition fans and as such doesn't get contributions from outside of Wigan as much as here (But it doesn't need them as they do more than a good enough job of criticising the Club, management and certain players without other fans needing to) . IMO this creates a Very insular attitude with people only posting in the main whatever gets them the most Back Slaps.

I do Miss the days when the traffic on here was greater, the number of contributors was greater and as importantly the contributions from a variety of fans from other clubs was greater.
Whilst not always everything may be want you want to hear the more diversified opinions and points of view given the greater level of debate.

People often talk on other boards about being banned off here, having posts deleted etc. and whilst not obviously knowing if that is true I would argue that caution should be taken when restricting differing points of view and I personally wouldn't want people being banned/posts deleted just because the opinions didn't fit with what we as Wigan fans may want to hear.

But also as the saying goes "Pot calling Kettle" the ones who cry about being banned/having posts removed also tend to be the ones wanting other peoples views deleted etc. when their views don't align with the Status Quo.
