I think that's the main problem with it.
If a team wins it then doesn't get the Gf they feel hard done by, and rightly so. Wire were the best team last year and have very little to show for it. If we do the same this year it will be the same. If you look around the world this is the way a lot of sport is done its just that it's weird for us as the main sport in this country is football and RL hasn't always has playoffs.

For what it's worth I like the playoffs that feeling at old Trafford in 2010 was unbeatable.

Feel free. Just as long as you appreciate that it's not what the season is all about. In fact it's largely incidental.

Finishing top of the pile should mean much more than it should. I have no doubt that it means a lot to the fans. It did to me last year, and congratulations to you for what looks like success this year.

The biggest problem is that the RFL dont view it as an important acheivement. This leads to coaches managing their teams in a way that doesn't view the it as an important acheivement. Both Wigan and Warrington would like to finish top, but both at some point have taken risks with their teams which show they dont NEED to finish top.

I love the play off system but wish the powers that be gave the league equal prestige. I would have loved to finish top again this year, and well done to you for doing so, just a shame it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme

I think the record goes back way beyond 2010 if you feel like a little homework.

Sadly finishing top means nothing any more, as long as you finish in the top 2 it's fine, the play-offs is where it's at nowadays

I was there, till the end, none of our fans gave two poops, in fact i saw one old man giving it 'you're gutless wire' and that was it, party atmosphere the whole game, surreal actually, so no there wasn't any fighting, it was just weird, the players just didn't look interested and didn't want to get physical, they looked like they were saving themselves for Wembley, irony being a couple probably played themselves OUT of a shirt.
We were always going to finish 2nd, so i'm ambivalent to the score, if the league was worth winning, we'd have put a better side out and won, truth is tonight was a game no one seemed to have been wanting to picked for, almost like a reserve grade game for a regular first teamer who's peed the boss off.

Its a worrying trend this, if the games don't matter then people will stop going. It could end up being the death knell for RL.

Yesterday it was a nailed-on treble, now it's “we’re not bothered about that one” it was three silver objects waiting to be engraved; now one is just a hubcap, and it was never part of the master plan. Give me a break! I’ve seen one post along the lines of, every wire that went was happy after the game, couldn’t care less, it’s next week that counts. He picked a side he thought was good enough to win (so did I) but it wasn’t good enough. We have had to eat some at times this season, and might have to eat some more before it’s all over, but today it’s your turn now. So take a big fat bite of HUMBLE PIE, and choke on it!

The team selection the attitude of the players was clear to everyone that last nights game meant nothing and every Wire player was looking at next week.
