i have a theory that the over 20s concentrate on keeping warm at early season games and dont join i the fun ( im one) as much as in summer when its warmer.
watch the singing and atmosphere improve with the weather

I'd like something more 'laid back', a Matt Monro/Tony Bennett type song please.

Now this thread's getting interesting.
Matt Monro is a quality crooner and I've been fortunate enough to hear Tony sing live a few times, what an amazing singer, he's a great jazz singer as well as an easy listening crooner.
I'd prefer something more up tempo though at a rugby game - maybe a tune made famous by the King.... Hound Dog would be a good tune for a game against the Wolfs and (I hope ) Heartbreak Hotel will be appropriate (for them) at the end of the game....

You don't realise what a big mistake you've made saying that!

Ive had a hand in many songs that we sing, or did until we had to have a wooow wow or dadadada in, ask 21-12. Im all for the atmosphere creating but i think people have stopped joining in because of too many new songs too soon and too much wowing and drumming. Stick to the Dale Cavese and cherry and white with greatest club in the world by far the greatest team and the simple ones clod in every now and then. The brigante thing was meant to try and make the DW feel like home with the decoration because most of the time it doesnt but it feels more like Poland or something at the mo.

| Quote ="TVC15"With regard to your comment of 'Any chance you can tell me who has been creating atmosphere at Wigan games for the last 30 years?'
Obviously I can't give you names and addresses, but I presume that the fans you refer to have been creating an atmosphere by making noise rather than standing/sitting in silence - which seems to me is just what the Brigantes are encouraging everyone to do.
As far as I'm aware, from the appearance of the people you are talking about, I would take a stab at them not all being a 'bunch of 12 year olds'. But you could be right - there some bl**dy big 12 year olds knocking about these days.
You also appear to want me to tell fans who sing to shut up. I'm sorry but I won't be able to help you there. If you want them to be quiet - I suggest that you do that yourself at the next home match.
I see you also think that the Brigantes 'aren't helping'. In what way are fans who sing not helping? Not helping with what? Putting the players off with all that noise?
And thanks for letting the fans who sing know that you don't want them to represent you. I'm sure it will be duly noted by all concerned and a real weight off their shoulders.'"
Thanks for that, very informative.
Now then, let's put all that to one side, and talk about the awesome performance from the 12 year olds on Friday.
I presume the self-styled "Atmosphere makers" only turn up for the big games, where there is plenty of atmosphere anyway?

| Why does Jack Kerley make no other contribution to this forum other than to criticise those who are working hard to bring noise and colour to Wigan RL games.

We sat back waiting for those who have been doing it 'for the past 30 years' to step forward thinking 'ey up, we might spot Jack here'. Nothing. Oh Jack, look out for this weeks match programme. We get a mention for improving the atmosphere and making the DW more like home. The clubs words not ours.

Got to love people like this, if we beat Wire, you'll be stood up clapping and singing along with the Brigantes.
12 year olds? You have obviously never met any of the group have you? Do you think a "12 year old" would be able to afford the amount of money that has been pumped into flags and displays out of people's own pockets?? Jesus, they must have a good paper round.
As for the 3rd paragraph, EVERY away game last season was 10x better than it ever has been, not just Wire and Saints, EVERY GAME. Anyway, your in a very small minority that dissapproves of everything the group does, il stick with listening to the 80% + of Wigan fans that love everything the group has done and how the atmosphere has improved ten fold.

I was lucky enough to go to Memphis in 2002 to watch Lewis v Tyson and paid homage to the memory of the King at Graceland while we were there. Didn't spot your message though!
It was quite a moving experience to be honest, his early death was such a waste of talent. Had he freed himself from the influence of the Colonel and been able to work with more contemporary songwriters you can only imagine the difference Elvis would have made to music in the 70s and 80s. The world was robbed of what could have been decades of brilliant music and fantastic performances from the greatest entertainer who ever lived. When you think that Tony Bennett who was born almost a decade earlier than Elvis is still performing (I hope he manages to tour the UK again) it brings home what we lost - Elvis could still be performing today...

It is a big wall to be honest !!!!
If Elvis had freed himself from the Colonel around 68 after the 'come back' special, I believe he would have gone on to tour overseas and most definitely visited the UK, I've just finished reading the 'Memphis Mafia' book and this is strongly hinted at by Lamar Fike and Marty Lacker, imagine the queues for those tickets !!!!!!.

If Elvis was still alive today it is unlikely that he would have toured Europe at any stage in the last 20 years as he would have been too fat to leave his house without the aid of a crane.
