-Over decades with no success, have 999/1000 times clapped and supported the team off without leaving and NOT being fickle enough to only sing when winning.
-A fanbase which has increased recently due to a financial input in the same way in which Wigan, Saints, Bradford and Leeds have benefitted from.
-Fans which create the best atmopshere at home (generally acknowledged), due to passion and support throughout the game, even if were not winning and
the team needs some backup.
-World record attendance at Odsal with an attendance and occasion you will never get close to surpassing-not bad for 'a little club'.

We might not have the same number of trophies historically, but our fans are proper fans who get behind the team and don't sit there statuesque, spoilt with past success.

I've made a few posts recently on this, Wire and Saints' board trying to be fairly balanced and have given you credit this season where it has been rightly due. But all this
deluded, envious anti- wire rubbish really increases my feeling of dislike for Wigan RL and it's fans and makes me really want Wire to come up against you and absolutely
batter you.

Most years i go to the HJ, i get some idiot in the towncentre either goading me or throwing some insulting gesture. Im sure Warrington have lots of genuine fans who would be great to have a chat with they just seem to have an unusually large hooligan element akin to football. Take the wigan vs crusaders away game when they had a gang of fans in the corner of our end who had turned up for nothing more than to cause trouble signing anti-wigan fans through the whole game.

I think its something to do with them building on a small foundation of core fans in the last decade now alot of Warrington fans have only been watching the game for 4,5,6 years as evidenced by the growing crowds year on year, theyve probably been brought up on football where this sort of hooliganism is the norm.

*yes we have had some trouble makers this season but they appear to be one-offs whereas it happens EVERY year at the HJ (sometimes even though we aren't playing Wire) and I also believe some wire fans were fighting on the retail park last week

I've been following wire since 1988 and have never, ever seen any wire male fans attacking any female fans. I'd be as disgusted as you if this was the case but
there are plenty of myths flying around.

Some Wire fans are bad some Wigan fans are bad, yet Wire fans will close their eyes to all the scummy element and rip in to other teams.
Wigan are also in the same boat yet will always deflect it with Wire are the only ones with scummy fans.

I don't get why people need to go beyond banter and turn it in to something it needn't be.

I don't hate Wigan, i don't want them to win games but i don't hate them, i walked back from the recent game with a wigan fan and enjoyed the banter.

It's understandable that Wigan fans would want Saints to win

1) Saints win practically gives Wigan the league leaders shield
2) Saints more illustrious history helps to back up any arrogant comment a Saints fan might come out with plus the better recent history (to a Saints fan) trumps Wigans bigger haul of trophies.

If i was in Wigans position i would want whoever was in 3rd to win, it's just common sense.

shambawamby and Conroy both replied to you. In any case I'm not sure why you're going on about some game at Odsal, rugby league didn't exist then remember. What doesn't help your reputation is when players like Richie Myler and agent Mathers start making gestures to our fans, but your fans certainly didn't help your reputation with their defence of the indefensible behaviour after the game at the HJ. Look mate, all fans have idiots and I actually find this quite pathetic really but when stuff happens you're best just sticking to the fact you think its disgusting and leaving it at that. Way too many of your fans go down the route of denial, they must have been provoked, didn't see it so its just Wigan fans stirring things etc. And it becomes a pattern after a while. Incidentally I went to Wilderspool with my dad when I was about 9 or 10 and had the shirt ripped off my back by a middle aged bloke. I'm 29 now and I've been to Warrington once since then, and there was fighting that time so I don't bother anymore. So frankly if any regular fans deny a problem they're either blind, lying or have really strange standards of acceptable behaviour themselves.

As for Wire_Yed's post he's pretty much spot on and I've mentioned it before but when we played Bradford in the GF a good few years back I left after about 30 mins because it was my sister in laws first game and Wigan fans around me were ripping seats up jumping over rows of seats and smacking each other, one bloke who had 2 kids with him used me as a prop so he could punch a random bloke in front of me and the stewards did nothing. There were literally 3 or 400 people involved and I never heard it mentioned anywhere so we clearly have idiots but having been watching Wigan since I was 3 this was the only time I've seen people in Wigan shirts involved in trouble and at Grand Finals you just know that the vast majority only bother going when its a final, even so I wrote on forums how disgusted and ashamed I was. Now it may be that your idiots regard Wigan games as a final and there's no trouble at your other games but it might go some way to explaining some of the Wigan fans feelings towards you.

Im going to have my two pennies worth in this.

Firstly I think every team you would take over 35000 fans to Wembley when you only get there once every 937 years.

As for the 2nd point you must of only started supporting Wire since Smith has been in charge as you clearly missed Cullen's last season in charge, to make a statement like.

Are you happy to class that as winning a trophy? I wouldn't be. I'd want one of the big three. Although I think you will win the Grand final, your defence is too strong and attack too clasy not to. Leeds are your biggest fear.

Not a myth pal! Was there with around 30 other Wiganers who were outnumbered and set upon by Wire fans!! Now I would possibly go with the notion that they arent real Wire fans but Im pretty sure this imaginary 35thou that went to Wembley contained a few of these!!

Like you said it's not a myth, but i also can't see you being outnumbered when 30 odd of you are there, but the HJ does not help warrington because it is located right next to the town centre so all the drunken chavs hanging around the centre come to the ground when the game finishes, i think what annoys Wire fans is that when are "fans" do something it's all over the forums, what's that going to achieve nothing!!, when i was at wigan about 4 - 5 years ago i had similar incident happen to me, like what happened to the Wigan lady what was punched and a friend with his family his car was smashed up on are last visit, but i didn't come spouting it on here calling Wigan fans "scum" of rugby league and tarnishing everyone with the same brush, i rang the police and try to get it sorted the proper routes which was pointless because the police are a tad useless.

to be honest it doesnt bother me, i'll still always support the wire , coz deep down i know that in every club there is bad fans and good fans, there are fans that leave early and fans that stay to the end no matter what, it can't be helped.
seriously, you've had bad experiences at warrington, well every club has had bad experiences at some places. I, personally have only seen trouble once and that was at home to hull. i dont make a big deal of it though and go as far to say as i hate hull fc ! because thats just a small minority of idioitic fans, and why should the club have a bad name because of these mindless idiots.

it seems like your judging a club because of some fans. judge us by the club, not the fans. we are only a few miles apart, us , wigan and saints. surely we, as people aren't that different

Here's my take on things.

I don't hate any particular team or spectators. 99% of all RL speccies I have met are decent people who want their team to win.

Here's a bit of advice, for all fans particularly at away games. If you go for a beer or a cup of tea pre match go and say hello to the opposing fans. Have a bit of a chat with them. It's amazing, they actually talk to you, and you learn things. A player you may not rate (or know) will crop up in the conversation and they will say "he does this or that for the team" and when you watch you may hmmm I was wrong. And I'll tell you what else happens the next time you play that team, that person will come over and have RL discussion with you and your mates.

Try it some time, you'll see it works. There are more good people than bad people in this world and it's about time it was recognised.
