That famous home of anti-Wigan RL feeling, TotalRL, is thus far the forum least impressed by these signings. The complaints range from "the incoming being no improvement on the outgoing" (no, really!) to, somewhat predictably, "Wigan are using loopholes to yet again sideline their youth system".

Seems it doesn't matter how much evidence you offer to the contrary, or how little other clubs actually do to bring any kids through, the old chestnut of Wigan neglecting their youth crops up again and again and again.

And the few Aussies on there who are trying to put people right re the qualiy of these new players are being shot down mercilessly.

I'm so glad I don't bother with that forum any more. On the basis that you can't really argue with someone who's thick, you could waste all day on there achieving nothing at all.

Not if other clubs are prepared to offer them that money. Good luck to them at St Helens. Wigan have been down that route and it all went wrong.

In an ideal world, you want British players, but there are far too few British lads of real quality around at the moment.

When you think of the era in which the likes of Hanley, Lydon, Gregory etc played, some of the best players in the world were British. You can't really say that now. Those few who do qualify as contenders are firmly settled at other clubs, so they won't have been approached.

I'd be fascinated to learn what the likes of Shenton and LMS (I'm guessing that's who IL was actually talking about) were asking, though no doubt, wherever they do end up, fans of that club will hurry on here to tell us they signed for a packet of butties and a can of pop - it was the allure of the club that was the main thing.

I agree with ideally wanting british however i believe complimenting them with good quality imports, the right side of 30 is beneficial to any team. Super leagues problem was the sheer number of imports combined with a fair precentage being the wrong side of 30. I'd guess LMS was asking more than Lima
