With 20,000+ on for Wire and a big crows expected for the Wire game our average gate should look quite healthy come the end of the season.

Fair play to the club for coming up with ideas like this one and the Quins game one.

The Leeds official site have got it wrong - the game is not all ticket as it states.

EDIT - Just e-mailed the Leeds club and they have corrected the error.

499 now for the South Stand, I've just bought one two minutes ago.

Was offered a ticket in a middle section, which I assumed was in the West Stand so do I take it that sales for the West have been pretty poor.

If we fill the South, East and most of the north, with a bit of a walk up to the West, the game should top 20k.

I hope Leeds bring huge numbers, it will make for a cracking atmosphere.

With them being able to move to the top of the table with a win as well as reduce prices, you would hope that they would.

The north will be less than half full. Leeds won't bring more than 2,500.

How many do walk up and pay on the gate nowadays at the jjb/dw ?

Easy way to work it out is we have approx 10,000 season ticket holders and they are counted at every game. Most away teams will bring between half a dozen (Catalan and Quins) and 5,000 (Saints & maybe Warrington if they're playing well).

...because it isn't The Big one....we all know who that is ....so we have to promote it as the Big One ....cos you've gotta have an angle.

No arguments about marketing, which it's a good example of....but if it were really a "Big One" then I'd guess we wouldn't have had to spend the last two months promoting it ......and offering cheap tickets .... would we ??

It's a marketing term to sell a lot of tickets for a particular game and appears to have worked.

Because leeds is the level we must get to if we ever want to win anything.So its the "Big one" in a Challenge way

Something that hopefully will be repeated. All that is needed now is a Wigan win.

The most obvious & attractive fixture to target in this way after Saints or Leeds is Wire. Not sure what the slogan could be for that though. If the club is intent on reaching a position where our average gate is 20,000 then it has to find a way first of turning the Leeds & Wire fixtures into 20K+ gates as a matter of course just like the Saints game is.

Not easy, I'm pretty sure that when the Bulls were in their pomp and we had a decent team, the fixture attracted 18 or 19K at the JJB. Crackin nights though, some of my best JJB memories are games against Bradford.

The JJB does generate a fantastic atmosphere whenever the crowd gets over the 17,000 mark. This should be a corker. Just hope Wigan put a shift in that keeps the crowd on its toes to the final hooter.

I don't think we need to be so cynical. This is the second very clever marketing ploy the club has utilised in the space of a month, and together they will have a marked effect on our attendance average. You're right, it's a pity we need to do it, but who's to say that those who come as a result won't come again, under their own steam, for the next home fixture? Also, it's something other clubs could think about. As a game, we need much bigger crowd figures than we're currently posting.

Our game would be in much better shape financially and in terms of profile if all clubs had attendances like Wigan and Leeds.

Anyway, I think "The Big One" is a fair enough description for a game between the two biggest clubs and we should be applauding the Wigan club for its marketing efforts. If only the rest of the club were so well run....

I dont see how the club can be faulted for this effort. We are already the second best supported club in the league and are pushing hard to better that position.

Its clubs like Salford and Quins that should be utterly embarrased by the effort we are putting into attracting crowds.

I take the point about the biggest 2 clubs.

Now if it mean't qualification to the playoffs or not then maybe.
