Soward would be pulverised in Origin. The NSW halves had no room to move tonight, so that would take out Soward's running game. His kicking game would've been of little value tonight as well, which leaves him with his passing game, which is very poor.
NSW have to stick with Campo and Wallace now, they'll be better for it.
EDIT: No, Wing is not on mega at Souths. He took a significant pay-cut after moving from the Roosters, to the point where he told the media he was on chicken feed, or something to that tune.

Looking at the NSW side i think they have to get some more threat on the outside of Lyon.
McManus looked a little off the pace to me.
Who's there to pick though?
Obviously aswell they need to get Wing into the game earlier in future and have both him and Farah running out of dummy half to try and get Queensland on the back foot.

If you want to get rid of McManus, then there's Monaghan or either of the Morris brothers to pick from.
You do wonder what Hayne might be able to do from fullback though. He had a big influence from the wing (although him and Jennings swapped positions at least once).
I think Bailey has to come from the bench, he's not big enough to be up against Price and Civo in the opening exchanges. Some people are calling for Poore and Weyman to start, not the worst idea. NSW need more ascendency in the forwards, especially early on. Our halves had no room or time for a lot of the game, with most of our inroads coming from dummy-half through Farah and Wing.
Pretty sure NSW will get the win in Sydney, but Brisbane is another matter.

| NSW performances in recent origins reflects the poor state of Sydney Rugby League in my opinion. All the Queensland backs are big recognisable names. Not the case for NSW.

It's abit of a worry for English rugby league though when NSW have one of their poorest teams in years yet still have talent like Gidley, Hayne, Jennings,Lyon in their backline that would walk into our test team and be ledgends
Anthony Watmough was their 18th man ffs

| First time watching an origin game for me, it's worrying how good both teams are. I reckon NSW would still have easily beaten a full strength England today.

If you thought that was good then you should wait for a real origin classic.
Thought the game today was abit average compared to the usual standards.
I'd love to see them bring a game over here NFL style and play it at Old Trafford. They'd get a huge crowd on imo because theres so many British fans that dream of attending one of these games but don't get the chance added to all the Australians that live over here that would go.

| Quality game.
NSW inexperience showed but they will learn a lot from that and if their halves decide to show up next time around I reckon they will level the series.
On a side note, didn't someone on the signings thread the other day that Brent Kite wouldn't go well in super league because of his running style? He was brilliant and I can't remember him losing the collision once and that is in Origin!

Mate you are one grade A plonker. I think Soward is a stumpy little bugger and i think he has been poor for much of his career to date but he is a different player under Bennett, and although he is not the best looking player in his tight shirt what does that have to do with his ability and performances this year. Are you last son and S. Long in some kind of love triangle?
It seems you and last son are carrying a torch for me (sorry i do not want to make it a square) but i take it as a complement. Il add you to the list xx

| I didn't think Hayne's try was a try. I think his foot JUST touched the line.
NSW can take heart from that performance. At 18-6 they were beaten and it could have been a cricket score. Can't see them winning two back to back though.
Oh and we need to bring that rule in regs the scrum. Whoever packs the scrum to call time off should have to stay in it.

I am really rather bemused now. You did compare yourself with Wayne Bennet in a previous post so I will take it you are suffering from some sort of delusional episode.
Your response to my comment vis-a-vis Greg Inglis and Jamie Lyon make little, if any, logical sense.

| Did anyone watch that wondering how the hell are we ever going to be able to give the Aussies a game in the future?
a) They have enough players to put out about 4 Australia teams, b) they're playing under two refs and the amount of lying on that they do at the play the ball is still unbelievalble. c) They also didn't seem to have both feet behind the ref when defending. If we're not playing under the same rules, then what chance do we have?

But there will be one ref in the 4 nations and they'll be playing under 'our' rules. Let's just hope that they adhere to the rule book unlike in the world cup.
