| The reason we lost tonight imo, was a combination of poor execution, bad luck, and excellent defence from KR.
But first I would like to comment on a terrible display from the man in the middle. As a starter, I am not moaning that he lost anyone the game, because he was shocking both ways. Both teams should have been flagged up for offside far more than they were, I think KR slightly more but they did defend more off the line so it is "acceptable" to think they infringed more. The constant messing around with the scrums also annoyed me - they dont actually do anything, both teams were jumping out early in defence, no need to spend an extra 8mins wasting time on it. Also the arrogance to ignore all other officials at all times, I can remeber one instant where a kick had gone out on the 20m line, the touch judge stood there pointing his flag, and Silverwood marched the players past him to the 10, and the touch judge just stood there with his flag out and nothing was done, shocking. Also, the amount of players flooding every kicker after the ball had gone was shocking, especially the Wigan pack on Dobson, which was a bit pointless as he couldn't even run due to injury. The hooter try was shocking, I don't care who decides the timing but if the ball is dead and the hooter has gone, how can you expect the players to know whether they should carry on? Also, I believe there was enough professionl fouls today for some sort of retribution at some point.
However, credit must go to Morgan for excellent second half tactics, using Dobson's kicking game to maximum effect by kicking early in the set, and if our wingers had gone back occasionally trying to push it wide. Also, both KR wingers hanging around their 20m line after about 3 drives was smart, and the game was begging for Wigan to give it to Roberts the instant Fox moved back, I dont think either of our wiingers got a single proper pass. The defence from both sides was awsome, especially McIlorum, who is the second name on the sheet next week for me, behind O'Loughlin who also had an amazing game running fantastic lines all night and showing up in defence.
Wigan's tactics however were poor. Despite many Wigan fans calling for us to play deeper, moving the ball 20m backwards is far too deep when the KR defence is so mobile, we killed ourselves, we needed quick PTBs and enough runners to suck that incredibly dense defence inwards, before Smith putting it out. Also the lovely support play decided to go missing tonight, with tommy offering multiple chances.
Overall a disapointing ending to what could have been a real spectacle of a game, if the man in the middle wasn't so much of an arrogant .

| Quote ="rlgear"I was at the game last night and whilst Dobsons try was controversial, I thought the ref was abysmal for both sides. hils acknowledging that somedecisons went our way, your lot were offside all the time, not standing square ( I counted 3 occasions when the Wigan player interfered with the Rovers player playing the ball and he gave a knock on with your feed). cheap shots on Dobson also went unpunished, so before people start blaming Silverwood, take off the rose tinted specs and look at the game from both teams point of view. There were over 8 minutes injury time played at the end, we timed it, and withthis theory, perhaps Dobsons try was allowed as it was scored during 1st half injury time.'"
No such thing as 8 minutes injury time - the stadium clock always continues despite the referee's stoppages, so is inevitably wrong, hence why it is taken off the scoreboard four minutes before the end of each half. This issue has no relationship to the Dobson score after the half time hooter, which was a horrendous decision by the referee who should be punished.
Silverwood was terrible for both sides with baffling decisions - Hull KR were as guilty as Wigan for offsides / not standing square / holding down, but he seems to be selective in his decision making and wildly inconsistent making both teams unsure of where the boundaries are at any stage of the match.
In my view there was barely anything between the teams, Wigan the better side in the first half, Hull KR in the second. Its a shame that the difference in the end was nearly the same amount of points that were gifted after the hooter in the first half and that the discussion is whether that decision was a decisive factor in the outcome of the game, rather than some of the brutal defence on show from both sides.

| The ref had a bit of a shocker last night, but it went both ways. Towards the end there were some shocking decisions that kept giving wigan repeat sets to get out of there own 20. One shocker which should have been a drop out and he gave a wigan scrum. All in all great game in awful conditions, brutal all the same. Think we edged it with slightly better attacking especially from acting half.
Love coming to jjb, always a great atmos and made welcome. Best of luck fir the rest of the season.

But it wasn't so it has no bearing on it, We'd have won if you chalked that try off.
Maybe you just need a louder hooter
