Why would he be average in a top team? He would currently walk into any side in the competition. Leeds have 1 centre in Senior, Saints have 1 in Gidley. I think we now have the best centre partnership in the league but we all know our problem isnt in the backs.

All I'm getting at is why keep any OLD players, the team is in a state of rebuild, yes you need some experienced players, Carmont not the most experienced as Pemps has stated...

because, in Carmonts case, hes a f*****g good player who should be kept as he isnt keeping anyone of similar/better ability out the team (i.e. Goulding)

Goulding isnt fit to lace Carmonts boots, harsh but fair, theyre absolutley miles apart. Age doesnt come in to this 1 ability does.

He's got one, possbly two seasons leave in him, before he starts doing a Senior, were hits and tackles start hurting, not healing from twists in the tackle the same and general fitness will go...

The one-two seasons, we'll still be re-building the team and I then when we decid to challenge for the title, he'll be to old and retire

Problem there is that Carmont is naturally a left sided centre, Gleeson is a naturally right sided centre, and as far as im concerned the best overall pairing in the league. Neither are as good as gidley but saints don't have two gidleys (thankgod)

As for saying that carmont will leave after the transitional period, having to replace 1 player out of a whole back line is ideal surely? 1 player turnover a year is surely the ideal plan for both the salary cap and age/skill.

He's not in Gidleys league but nobody else in Superleague is. After Gidley Carmont is in the next bracket of centres that are all quality players in their own right like Gleeson, Senior, Mogg etc.

If it were that easy playing outside Hock how come Vaealiki was pants? he didn't have rafts of assists to his name and not many trys either.

If Carmont moved to Saints and played left centre Meli would be walking trys in for fun. He have quality service from Pryce, Long and Cunningham and would look even better then he does for us.

As an individual Gidley is in a different class but as a pair they're the best in the league.

We need an old school coach who knows the game inside out, someone who saw the Wigan glory days and knows exactly what the club is all about. A coach that demands respect and will take no cr@p from players who fall short.

If Thornely is a s good as people say he'll still be a couple of years of being a fully fedged superleague player. He'll get his opportunities in pre season games, cup games and when players are injured in the next couple of seasons and then hopefully will be ready to take over from Carmont in the 2012 season when he'll still only be about 19 i believe.

Thats surely what the club should be aiming at instead of saying bin Carmont off and throw an unproven player in.

I would imagine that the clubs ideal target is Pryce to replace Carmont and then Thornley to replace Gleeson or move to the second row.
