Managed to play 80 minutes despite the tackle that could have ended his career. I am absolutely suggesting he was making it up because of the field position. Again, what's wrong which tacking at the knee in the direction it bends? You see it week in week out, or is it because it's Wigan that you have a problem?
Cas fans have some temerity too after having a player banned for elbowing a player and having someone sin binned last night for headbutting...
It's like a pantomime with you lot. The banter page tried drumming up some anti Wigan stuff with it and the majority of responses were that there was nothing in it.

| Glad I’m not the only one who saw little wrong with that. “Could have ended his career” but plays the full game? I have to agree with a previous poster that it’s in a rather convenient location for a penalty and no other player, nor the referee, even picked up on it.
Attacks the knee where it bends and I saw that literally happen multiple times last night during the Warrington/Saints game, some from the side.
Some people really ought to get over themselves.

I don’t have a problem with Wigan, I have problem when any team continually attack the knees with the third man in. If this was an isolated incident I’d agree with you but it went on all game. The Lyne one was a shocker. If you seriously think Fifita was acting that out to get a penalty you need a head test.

I havent seen any other challenge and if they're against the bend of the knee I will stand with you in condemning it. I'm 100% truthful (and if I had the inclination could find at least 10 examples from the two televised games) when I say this happens every single game across the country. A player gets stood up, a 3rd player tackles the knees to get him down and on his back. When I say he milked it for a penalty I don't say this as a slight on Fafita or Wakefield; every team show examples of milking penalties.

Wasting your breath on here bud, it's all bravado and red and white tinted glasses on this board.
Quality to the end. Although I think one of their faithful said that "it didn't look good", which is as close to an admission of guilt as your going to get. Classy.

I remember the Rangi one, on Ferres I think, but it did injure Ferres. I think they said Ferres was looking at a long spell out of the game so they gave Ranfi 7 matches. Ferres was back in 2 weeks!
If I had to criticise the tackle it would be for the excessive force the lad went in on the back of the knees, it wasn't needed.
Fifita looks as if he's held and is getting ready to play the ball.

Watch the video again Fafita was still moving forward if any thing the tackle was under his backside more than anything. He should be cited for posting that on twitter bringing the game in disrepute.

| From a Wakefield fan who's actually watched the game back.
Quote ="dboy"Having watched the game back now, it's hard to see anything wrong in Miller & Lyne's injuries.
Woody's looked accidental.
Pauli won't be summoned (the only punch thrown was by a Wigan player), and there was no attempted trip by Brough.
The attack on the knee of Fifita may well attract some attention though.'"
I think we're getting a little closer to a rationale point of view here.
I do think there may be something to look at I the fifita tackle, only seen it once but he does seem to tackle whilst not in control of his movement (I.e. he may have been off his feet when he made contact).
I wouldn't say it's the worst I've ever seen but it definitely should be checked and he may get a game or 2.
The rest, maaahhh.
PS
I think they may want to look at the borough trip.
Not 100% sure, but there's three to something not normal about it.

Now we are down to a trial by social media obviously this is the footage of Wakefields official video tape for the game not somebody who has taken it from a phone camera .

| The tackle looks completely unnecessary which is a bad start, and it only takes a players leg to be planted at a slight angle for that to do serious damage.
No need for it, shouldn’t happen and he should pick up a ban.
As a Saints fan I hope he doesn’t as he’s garbage IMO.
On the flip side I’d be utterly amazed if all the Wakey injuries were down to foul play. Sounds like a mixture of being unlucky/frustrated with injuries and there being a couple of naughty tackles in the game - without the two necessarily being linked.

I haven't seen the match video yet but according to a Wakefield fan who has, none of their injuries was even down to foul play. We could have just as easily bleated about Cas' foul play last week as a reason for our leg injuries, intimating it surely wasn't a coincidence that they were knee injuries. Of course it would have been utter nonsense too.
The problem here is they are playing to stereotyping. Wigan have a reputation based on the Maguire era (before it was banned btw) and so every leg injury is now due to Wigan's 'dirty tactics'. The truth is all clubs, including yours, employ the 'third man round the legs' tackle. There were many, many examples during all three televised games this week.
The simple fact is that Wigan's record in this department is no worse than any other team and, certainly in other areas of foul play, many are far worse. Of course, this doesn't fit the 'Big, bad Wigan' narrative that opposition fans like to play along with so conveniently gets swept under the carpet under the deluge of social media faux outrage.
The Powell one looks bad and if he picks up a ban then fair enough. He won't be the first and he certainly won't be the last. However, from the video doing the rounds he's clearly not doing anything against the directive on 3rd tackles as he is applying force in the direction the knee bends. For my own part, I still don't much like it because of the vigour he's doing it with but I could quite easily pick out another dozen of this type from the televised games alone. They may not look as bad but the net result (i.e. attacker brought to ground while stationary with no resulting injury) would be the same.
Let's see what the disciplinary say.

I saw those. There was a particularly reckless one in the first half from Catalans too but as you say, nothing said about it either during or after the game. Of course Catalans aren't 'known for it' so it didn't happen. Had they been feigning injury to waste time though... Just watch that twitter feed go! Tells you all you need to know really.
